The boot runs small. I ordered a whole size bigger than usual, and they're great. I wore them a lot this past winter, and after 6 months the bottoms were wearing through. Zappos is an authorized Frye distributor, so I sent them back to Frye, with the receipt, and received back a brand new pair. This is great customer service, and makes these lovely, comfortable shoes worth the cost.

Amazing, buttery leather. I was surprised by how soft and light they were, given the relative stiffness and heaviness of Frye boots. I searched for black ankle boots for a very long time, and I am beyond pleased that I found these.

I've had these for a couple weeks now. And once I started wearing them I didn't want to take them off. They go with skinny pants or dresses. The Perfect fall boot. The leather is divine and broken in quickly around the ankles. Every day they look a little better. I've had no issues with the laces or tongue bunching or moving as another reviewer stated. The laces are easily adjusted and the zipper makes getting them off a breeze. I'm a full time nanny so I'm on my feet a lot. I also have lower back issues and usually such a hard sole will aggravate it but so far so good. I am usually a true 7 but went up a half size and they fit great. My foot is slightly on the wide side so I assume this is why. Keep that in mind. Such a gorgeous boot. I'm very happy I splurged.

Awful! I ordered 3 pairs of Frye boots in a lace up style. I was disappointed with all three, and none of them fit. I found this boot to fit true to size in length (maybe even a little long), narrow in the toebox, and loose in the arch and heel areas. They felt extremely uncomfortable, with no cushion and zero arch support. The soles were paper thin. Even if these would have fit my feet, I wouldn't have been able to wear them, due to the complete lack of support and cushion. And nothing about this boot looked like the quality I would expect for the price.

I was able to wear these boots with comfort straight from the box. I typically wear a 7 or 7.5, and ordered the 7.5. They fit well. I agree with previous reviewers though: there is no arch support in these shoes. I wear ballet flats all summer long with no arch support though, so I have not really noticed. The leather may be the softest I have ever owned, and they have conformed nicely to my feet over the past three weeks of wearing them. I bought these in tan, and swapped out the laces for a navy-blue, and have received countless compliments.

These booties are ridiculously cute and versatile. I read the reviews and ordered 1/2 size up from my normal (7.5 instead of 7) and they were too big! They'll have to go back, but I will definitely get another pair. They are the same quality you'd expect from Frye -- top notch. I know a lot of people complained about the zipper but I actually like it. I can't speak to the comfort because I'm sending them back, but just wearing them around the house they felt great.

Very stylish and extremely comfortable. Very good quality leather, too. I was getting tired of wearing long boots with tunics, so this adds variety to my winter outfits. I am very small built, so I also love the non-bulky, clean lines. Looks timelessly stylish, too, so I am thinking of buying another pair.

I've been looking for a lace up ankle boot like this for years! It is feminine and close fitting at the ankle so skinny pants can be worn over the boot. It even looks great with dresses. I wear an 8.5 or 9 in most boots and shoes and have a high instep and narrow feet. I bought these in a 9 and they are just the right size with thin socks. Thank you Frye and Zappos!

I should have paid attention to the reviews. The boot was at least a size smaller and more narrow than medium.

Absolutely Devine. I needed a boot for the winter that was not to the knee and I saw these come up and fell in love. A classic style. Wear them tightly lace for a more polished look or wear them loosely to be more carefree. The leather is a dream. I wear a 8 to a 7.5 and got these in an 8 and they fit wonderfully. Once they stretch out a bit I don't think I will be able to wear anything else!

This is my first pair of Fryes and I am in love. Its hard to find a pair of truly comfortable women's flats that look professional and will support me through long days and long commutes. These do the trick. I ordered them in dark brown and love the color - they also have a bit of a reddish tint to them. They are a narrow shoe, but I didn't find that I needed to order up. I am a true 8.5 and am happy with the fit.

These are lovely boots. I have many Frye boots, and they almost always run about a half size too big. Not these. They are true to size. I will have to exchange them.

Gorgeous boot, feels great on. The leather is supple and beautiful. Only complaint; the side zipper detracts from the look. However, the overall boot was so good that I decided it didn't matter for me.

I purchased this bootie in black last year and debating the brown for this year I liked them so well. Yes, I agree with other reviewers this boot runs on the small side, but I kept them and found the leather stretched just enough for me. They do have thin soles, but for me this is okay as well, I wanted a slim, nice looking boot, not chunky or heavy. The leather is amazingly soft. Zappos of course still rocks!

I found these true to size. The leather was wonderful. But overall the style was just too floppy and loose, I want something with more structure and support in both the shoe and the ankle. These buckled around my ankles and they felt more like a loose pair of hi-top sneakers than combat style boots. I will try the Frye Melissa instead.

These shoes are really cute and very high quality. However, there is almost zero arch support, making them less comfortable that what I'd like from pricey shoes. I'm keeping them, but I don't think I'd buy them again.

The boot is beautiful, leather is nice but the boot runs narrow and no arch support, the foot bed design is way too narrow and I felt as though the more I would wear these boots the less support I would have on the inside ankle area and heel. No support through this area, also the zipper runs on the inside, felt as though my ankles on the inside were caving in when walking...sorry Frye, you missed the mark on this boot!

I love Frye boots. I was hoping to love these too. For the price I was hoping they would be my winter boot. Unfortunately when designed they put a zipper up the entire inseam of the boot. It is an ankle boot and doesn't need it. I found it to be a huge eye sore. I had to return them. Just be warned.

Do not buy these boots. I ordered them because they were cute and the price seemed good for the supposed high quality of free boots. If they lasted three years it would be worth it. But after less than a month the zipper unraveled, I contacted frye and after paying shipping fees they replaced them. Now, a month later the same exact thing happened with the new pair. It's clearly a defect on their part and they are not replacing them. A huge, frustrating waste of money that left me without functioning boots for almost all winter. Buy boots from target, they will last longer.

I loved the boots. The leather is so soft and good quality. Unfortunately, after only having them about four months, the zipper busted loose from the leather on both shoes! They fit my ankle and calf too, so it was not like I was stretching it. Seems like such a waste to have such wonderful leather shoes but have a weak fabric at the zipper! I wish they would have been just lace up boots with no zipper. Oh well, that is what I will look for next time.

I love the look of these.... I ordered one size up as I wanted to wear a thin sock inside.. By the end of one wearing the zipper split and I had it repaired as I wanted to wear on a trip. Only wore one other time as the other zipper split.. They are going back!! Sad as I love them!

I love the "Whiskey" brown color and the soft leather of the boot; however, that is the only thing I liked about this boot. I ordered my typical size, which was way too short in the toe box, and much too narrow. As a result they were very uncomfortable. I may have order a half size up if I had liked any other quality of this boot, but I couldn't find any. The laces were a pain, the zipper bunched, the outsole was really thin, and the heel too small. Needless to say, I hated these boots and they went back quickly.

I own several pairs of Frye boots and they are all size 7. I ordered these in a sz 7 and could barely get my foot in the boot. They run very small.
