I like almost everything about this bag. Great materials and construction. Great organization. Nicely padded back and strap. But it's too small for my needs.I use it for international air travel so besides my notebook and iPad, I need room for a notebook, sunglasses, reading glasses, a light pullover and neck scarf, tickets, business cards, loyalty cards, wallet and passport. 9l just ain't enough for all that. I was disapointed because I really liked the bag and looked forward to carrying it.

I like this bag a lot. I wanted a small bag that can be carried cross body but large enough for a 13 inch laptop. This meets all my requirements and it is surprisings roomy although comfortably compact when it is being carried on the body. It is highly recommended if you are looking for a compact cross body laptop bag, this one will make you happy!

This is just big enough to fit my 13" laptop, iPad, cables, and a few other essentials. Yet small enough to easily fit under an airplane seat and leave me plenty of leg room. I was an instant fan of the sling style. It is so easy to access without having to take it off. And it is super comfortable.

This is a great medium sized sling that is very durable. My wife and I used it on a recent trip across Italy and found it more than adequate for keeping our day trip items handy. Very comfortable to use all day. Better than a bulky backpack. Recommended.

Absolutely fabulous backpack. One of my most favorite ever. Great size for a day pack. Enough room for a laptop and all other daily essentials.

I was looking for a bag to carry my laptop for my bike ride to work. This is perfect! It is small and low profile so it does not block view over my shoulder yet large enough to hold what you need. Is fits securely to my back--no shifting around. Like all patagonia gear -- this is a very well made. My only complaint is that I would love to have better/easier access to my cell phone (like a pocket on the shoulder strap), but it's not a deal breaker for me. It's a keeper.

I absolutely love this bag. I use it instead of a diaper bag. When my 1½ year old started following his older brother on the play structures at the park and I had to climb around after him to keep him safe, It was time to switch from my messenger bag to a new bag. Sometimes I would also bump into things/people in tight spaces in stores with my messenger bag. With the mass sling I can use the extra strap when I am at the park, etc. to cinch it down tight and secure when I am running after the kids. It is up and out of the way like a backpack when I am in stores, etc. When I need to get to my phone, wallet, diapers I can just swing it around to the front and access everything easily without taking off the bag. I tried the Atom Sling and it was way too small. Mass sling also has nice organization pockets. If you have a newborn this would not be big enough for all the stuff you have to drag along with you. I have 1½ year old and 4½ year old boys. Fits diapers, wipes, wallet, sunglasses, changing pad, phone, iPad, Kindle, pen, pencil, snacks, hand-sanitizer, tissues, lip balm. Can even fit one of my kids Camelbak Eddie bottles, but not both with all the other stuff in. So when I need to bring drinks along I just bring a lunch bag with drinks and snacks in it for the boys, which I can just leave on a park bench or in the car.

Great bag. Pocket for my ps vita, glasses case, eye beanie (for sleeping), ipad (not mini), and even a windbreaker if need be, along with other necessary items. The straps are highly adjustable. The only negative is that if you ever wanted to not use the support strap, there is no place to hide it, and therefore it hangs down. But that is only if you don't always use it. I have so much stuff in my bag that i need the support from the weight.

Solid bag, feels pretty well-made and seems to be waterproof-ish if my first foray out in the rain today is any indication. There's three main compartments: Biggest compartment: seems best made for something big but flat; my Surface Pro 3 fits in here nicely with about 3 inches of headroom but two inches of side room. Smallest front compartment: For small things like books or whatnot. I can fit a 3DS in here with a little room to spare, like headphones, cough drops or other knickknacks. Middle compartment: This is the one with all the little pockets and slots and whatnot. Compared to the other compartments this one is about 3 inches deep (if you need it to be) and you can pack all sorts of things into its little pockets. Pens, cellphone, a zippered compartment about the size of a large index card, some bigger pockets layered behind the above. You don't even have to use any of them, though. The bag has a kind of ribbed lining to promote a bit of airflow for those hot days, and the single cross-body sling strap goes from right shoulder to bottom-left waist; it's not adjustable. There is a secondary strap that you can either tuck into a special bottom pocket of the bag or pull out for a secure fit. If you're wearing the bag, it pulls out from your right-waist side and connects to the main strap, kind of forming an upside down Y across your body. Great when you need to move but don't want the bag swinging around too much. Loving the bag for its slim profile, great for days out and maybe even some light hiking (no water bottle pocket though). You can't pack too much into it though, like clothes or (more than one) textbook or etc., so keep that in mind.

I recently acquired a Surface Pro 3 to replace my laptop. Once I did, my backpack computer bag seems so empty. So naturally, I wanted to get something more appropriately sized. I stumbled upon the Patagonia Mass Sling. There was a informative video demo of the product, which helped sell me on the product. I have used the Sling for a week while at work overseas in Amsterdam. I must say that I am very impressed with the product. It hangs easily over the shoulder and is so comfortable. I was skip the public transit some days and would walk the 2 miles to the office. I had no shoulder pain at all, and the bag nicely positioned and evenly balanced on my back. My back also stayed pretty dry too because of the contoured back pad. I packed the Mass Sling with my Surface Pro 3, my iPad Air, associated power cords, and other items very easily. I would highly recommend the product.

Perfect! I got the Patagonia Atom Sling first which was a great pack but a bit too small for my tablet. I exchanged it for this one and it exceeded my already high expectations for a Patagonia pack. Zappos level of service and shipping speed was peerless as usual. Thanks again.

I am already in love with this bag. I am replacing my old Patagonia Half Mass, which has served me well, but I needed to downsize a bit and this was perfect. The real surprise happened when I was transferring stuff from the inner pockets of my Half Mass to the inner pockets of the Mass Sling. Only then, did I find that either Patagonia or Zappos apparently really knows me because as I was placing my emergency Band-Aid into the new bag, I found that there had already been two Band-Aids pre-stocked for me. I am either very impressed or super creeped.

As a connoisseur of small laptop bags, I highly recommend this bag if you're looking for something slim and portable. I have a closet full of laptop and camera bags that suit different purposes and this is my current daily bag. If you're looking for something small to carry around a 13" or smaller laptop with an assortment of accessories, this bag is perfect. If you're looking for a daypack type bag, you may find this bag a little short on storage space. The front pocket is big enough to carry something small/medium sized, but definitely not large enough to fit something like a sweater or jacket. The middle accessory pocket could fit something larger but you would lose out on a lot of space meant for the accessory pockets. The laptop sleeve currently fits my Dell e7240 12" ultrabook. It has room for something slightly bigger but anything larger than a 13" Macbook and you'll pushing it. If you wanted to carry around a camera in this, I wouldn't advise anything bigger than a micro 4/3 type camera with a handful of lenses and there's not much padding to protect it from being thrown around. Most of the padding is reserved for the back where the laptop goes. That being said, if you like to fill your backpack to capacity and throw it around, you may damage more delicate laptops from the lack of padding between the middle accessory pocket and the laptop sleeve. I took off one star for comfort because after using this bag for a few weeks, although it's not uncomfortable at all, the bag is still pretty stiff feeling and doesn't really conform to my body like a lot of my other backpacks do once they are broken in a bit and judging by how the material on the back feels, it probably never will. Not a deal breaker by any means, just something to note if comfort is a huge selling point for you. All in all, finding a sling bag in this size, quality and at this price is pretty difficult, if not impossible.

First, please note that I am a bag/edc/man bag/backpack and sling pack kind of guy. I've had (and have) several of them in all sizes from various manufacturers in my range including Maxpedition, Patagonia, Lowepro, Victorinox, Hazard 4, High Sierra, and Vanquest. I like bags for guys as much as many women like shoes. All of these manufacturers have nice products and each has pros and cons, frankly. It all comes down to personal preference and need for which bag is used the most, in my case its the Maxpedition Noatak and the Vanquest Javelin 2. That is changing though because of the Patagonia Mass Sling. I also have a Patagonia Atom Sling and that will be given away soon because the mass sling is so much better that I have no plan to every use the Atom Sling again. The Mass Sling I have is black with dark green straps for accents. Its a sharp looking bag that is very stealthy in look and in the way it wears. Its really light, comfortable, sits beautifully on and against the body and has some pretty good organization options. The front zipper opens to a large pocket that could hold a phone, wallet and keys but I find it best to just put my keys and loose change in there. I don't like too much in the front zipper of any bag, I guess, and like to keep it flat in appearance. In the second zipper, you'll find the organization with a couple velcro and a nice zipper pocket. Here is where I keep my wallets (I carry two for some odd reason: one I go to often and the other I go to when necessary about every 2 or 3 days), an iPhone 6 4.7", a multi tool, a folding knife and some doggie poop bags and a pepper spray. I sometimes put my iPad Mini in there, too. They all fit in there comfortably. There is also a third (largest) zipper that runs along the back, just inside the padding where you might find a CCW zipper in a Maxpedition Sitka or Noatak, for example. I don't think this is a great spot for a firearm in the Patagonia frankly but it is perfect for a tablet or small laptop. I believe they advertise it as holding a 13" and it probably does what they say but I don't own one so can't speak to that. I do know it easily holds my Macbook Air 11.6 (about 12" by 10" by 1" thick). All of these items are comfy and it still maintains its slim and low profile while sitting nicely against the body. When I first opened the box, I was a little concerned because the strap, though padded, didn't appear very wide or thick (like a Hazard 4 or Maxpedition). I really do like a thick and wide strap when carrying heavier loads but in this case, the Mass Sling strap is working just fine. It has no little extra zippers or places to store anything on the strap but its clean & attractive looking, does the job well, and sits very comfortably on the chest. Patagonia is also pretty generous on the strap length. I wear an L or XL shirt and there is plenty of extra strap and sternum strap material to fit a couple of sizes bigger of a person, too. You can also move the sternum connector to several points on the strap for a nice customized fit there. I don't normally even use that sternum supportive strap but if I'm on my bike or want it extra secure for some reason, I've used it and it works very well. A+ here overall and another A+ to the Zappos staff who helped me with this order and were excellent from beginning to end.

This bag is exactly what I was looking for. It fits my 13" laptop, iPad, cables, and still has room for a few other odds and ends yet it is very slim and streamlined. The hard back keeps my computer protected and prevents things inside the bag from poking me in the back. I love the sling style and the stabilizing strap is helpful for keeping the bag in place or if I just want to sling it over one shoulder quickly.

Excellent product, well constructed and very functional. I take it everywhere. It has an urban look but is not out of place on the trail. Everything is readily accessible: water bottles, power bars, maps, Android phone (with pedometer app!). It's great for my volunteer work meetings (I'm retired): all papers are stashed and easily retrieved. I highly recommend this sling.

This bag is wonderful. It's small and light, yet durable enough to last. It fits my 13' Macbook Pro perfectly and has the space to fit my charger, mouse, and my usual book or two. I really, really like and recommend this bag.

I got this bag because I wanted something smaller that was still capable of carrying a 13" laptop. It looks good and met all my requirements. If I'm not carrying a laptop I can fit a water bottle and waterproof shell into the main compartment. You can fit a Kindle or iPad in the main compartment if you do that. I'd recommend it to others looking for a bag in this category, but it isn't perfect: Laptop padding and protection is pretty limited to keep the size down. The zipper side feels more vulnerable too. Thankfully you have space for a slim sleeve or shell. As others have said, there isn't enough space to squeeze in a 15" Retina MacBook Pro but it's close. The cross strap isn't detachable. This is a shame because you can probably do without it in a lot of cases. It's annoying have it hanging if you are grabbing a seat on the subway and slide the back around in front of you. I got the navy version and on some computers you might think the other colour is orange. It's more of a browny-orange.

I use this bag every day for the gym and essentials. It is comfortable to wear, not too big, and fairly easy to get into all the pockets. I give it 4 stars and not 5 because #1 - there is no pocket on the strap, and #2 - the second compartment is a little narrow. Otherwise, great sturdy, well made bag!

Love the color and functionality. Have had it for over a month now and am still constantly adjusting the straps (boobs get in the way), but it definitely works well carrying the computer, though in the front area (but it's a weird size: Toshiba Satellite U840W, 14.4in and narrow). Basically, it's great for a short commute (especially on a bike) and carrying the essentials (laptop/cords, clipboard + notes, medium thermos + snacks, keys, wallet, etc) but not much else.
