I bought these boots in March and have enjoyed them very much, especially with the season change. I can wear them with leggings/ jeans in the colder months and with short dresses in the warmer ones. I feel sturdy and comfortable at all times. My only complaint is they are a little tough to get on around the ankles but I'm sure that will loosen up the more I wear them. I'm not a Frye customer for life!!

I've had these for over a year and love them! I wear them constantly, polish them up every couple months and they still look great! I typically wear them casual but can easily pass for dressed up. Comfortable, could personally use more traction on the bottoms but I know that is how this style of boots comes.

Absolutely loved the boot!!! Unfortunately it was still too small to fit over my calf.

I'm in agreement with other reviewers. I can wear a regular Frye, but thought I'd try the "extended calf" because the regular one is very snug, and I wanted something a little looser.
There's maybe an extra half-inch in the calf with these? They felt more comfortable getting on, and they sit a little less tight in my heel, so I kept them, but there's no way these are actually "extended" calf. Maybe "stretched" calf. It gives me a little more wiggle room than my regular Frye's, but not much.

I would like to preface this review by saying that I absolutely LOVE this style boot, and I wanted them so badly that I ended up ordering them 8 (yes, 8) times from Zappos and other stores in the exact same size in the extended calf, and it took all 8 to actually finally receive a pair that was truly an extended calf size. The whole process was very frustrating, I ordered them in the Cognac color and they fit like a dream, plenty of room for pants to tuck in. I don't have a true wide calf (in my experience thats 17in), I'm need roughly a 15in circumference to be comfortable so based on the description of these boots they should fit perfectly. Boy was I wrong, the first 7 pairs varied so greatly between the actual shoe size (even though they were all 8 or 8.5) and the calf circumference that I couldn't believe it. Finally on the 8th try I got a pair that fit like the Cognac ones, so if you love these boots don't give up. Just keep going until you find the pair that actually fits like they are supposed to!

I'm not sure what Frye isn't getting about what a "wide calf" means. But it's certainly not any of their wide calved boots. I wish they would make a properly sized boot with a 16 1/2- 17 wide calf. Frye, you are missing a huge market of us women who would dye to own your boots but have muscular calves. Its just disappointing bc the leather quality is amazing.

These are very nice boots but the foot is very tight. I'm not sure it will stretch and not willing to keep them in case it doesn't. Very slippery boots would need to have rubber soles put on.

I have a wide calf & wide foot. The boot is tight on my calf & my foot as well. I'm having them stretched in the calf & I think it will loosen on my foot with wear.

I searched everywhere until I could find a pair of tall boots in this exact shade of brown. I'm 5'1 with 13" calves. I read a lot of reviews and I noticed that a majority of people had trouble with the regular calf boots being too tight around their legs so I decided to get the 7.5 medium in the extended calf so that I could have room for leggings, skinny jeans, and straight leg pants. They are comfortable, and the color is an antique cognac brown. I treated mine with waterproof leather protectant before my first wearing. The sole is a very slippery leather with a small rubber layer on the back heel. I feel like I'm going to fall whenever I not walking on carpet. But I love how they look.

After stomping around the house for 20 minutes trying to get my foot into this beautiful boot I decided to try another tactic. I found that sockless and powdered up my foot slid in much better.

I bought these a few weeks ago and I absolutely love them! These are my second pair of Frye boots and nothing compares to Frye! Didn't give them five stars b/c one boot is a lot more weathered than the other, with that said, I still love them!

I have been waiting for a deal on this for a while and was very happy that Frye delivered. They fit beautifully, the leather is supple, and they are exactly as pictured. I live in a northern climate and they are very slick. I had to add traction the soles.

These boots are real beauties, the leather is rich and supple and not at all floppy. Also, I often cannot find tall boots to fit my athletic calves, and these fit! But they will take some breaking in: although I had no problem with my Melissa Button short boots (which were comfortable right out of the box), these cut into the back of my right heel/Achilles tendon area, and now I have a blister. I am hoping that they will break in soon.

Beautiful, high quality boots. However, the wide calves are not wide enough and I had to return them.

I bought these for everyday wear; I don't like the formal polished look of most boots, but prefer the more casual distressed look. Purchased another pair of Frye's and the zipper wouldn't go up on my calves :( Returned them for these and these slide right on! I do recommend going up a half size or so; my feet are pretty snug in my size... I'm hoping they stretch! All in all, quality leather boots that look great.

I just received my Frye boots crossing my fingers that they would fit in the calf. They did! So thrilled with this extended calf boot. I have 16" circumference calves and was a little worried about these since there is no extra elastic bits around the top for give. The sole feels fantastic! The boot zipped with a little effort, but feel great afterward. I typically am a size 9.5 or a 10. I ordered a 10, so that I can wear a regular sock. I recommend these!

First thing to remember when ordering these boots- the calf size increases by 1/4" per size. I have 16" calves and wear 9.5. Frye told me the calf should be 16.5" for this size and when I put them on, there wasn't any wiggle room in that area. I was able to fit my skinny jeans inside of them, although they bunched a little bit above the boots. However, I also tried on a size 9 and there was no way I could've comfortably worn them with the calves as tight as they were. So, if you have large calves and small feet, these may not be the best option. Luckily for my large feet, the 9.5 fit exactly true to size and I was able to keep them. The calf area does break in a little bit as other reviewers have mentioned, but I still wish Frye would give in and make them looser. Women with larger calves shouldn't have to be so concerned with measurements in order to buy a pair of nice boots.

I had been eyeing these boots for a couple of years, and decided to splurge and buy them (in black). In person they are beautiful. I have large calves from running (15 1/4), and I have trouble finding boots that will fit over skinny jeans or leggings. These were pretty tight, so I ended up taking them to my shoe repair guy and he stretched them for me and they fit perfectly now. Only problem is, the first time I wore them for any length of time, I got huuuuge blisters on the backs of my feet. I am going to stick with them and break them in, but it was a bit disappointing, considering the price. I have bought boots half the cost that were comfortable right out of the box that I could wear for hours with no issues. I guess I also have a high instep because these are really hard to get on and off. However, they are so lovely that I am willing to work through a little pain to make them more wearable.

I love these boots, the color is amazing, the leather is beautiful, they fit great but they are bunchy at my ankles so I ended up returning them and going with the Melissa button back zip which are more structured. Beautiful boots though and on someone else I'm sure they will be perfect!

These are beautiful boots. They can be dressed up or down, and are very comfortable. I ordered the Cognac color. It a rich, neutral brown that will be much easier to wear than my black boots. I have 15.5" calves and these boots fit perfectly with jeans. I think if you have truly "wide calves" these may not fit. One complaint: the bottoms are very slick. I'm going to have to scuff them up somehow or put some sort of grip on the bottom.

I really like the leather, fit and style of this boot. I have been looking for a black boot for a long time and am pleased. However the snaps have a tendency to come undone. Doesn't happen too often but Getting a little annoyed with them flapping. But overall I am satisfied and would recommend them.

I have always wanted Frye boots. From all the reviews that I have read and the different styles that I have looked at it appears Frye has joined the Calvin Klein school of thinking. Women have no curves and are completely anorexic even if they wear a larger size or are even slightly athletic. I may need to get booties or shooties if I want to buy Frye. That is too sad.
