Good fit and feel. I am a true size 2...100lbs at 5'3" and the fit is perfect. My only objection is that there is a label right inside the leg, so if you cuff it, the label waves like a flag! Very annoying.

Overall, these pants are very comfortable. I bought them to replace an old pair of convertible Prana hiking pants. The problem with this style is the pockets - they are way too small/shallow! None of the pockets can securely fit a smartphone. The hip pockets are too shallow, and the back pockets are too small. There is a tiny zip pocket which is good for some credit cards and cash, but when I do short hikes, I like to carry a phone and some cash on my person without resorting to a backpack.

I'm heading to Nicaragua and Africa and needed a lightweight, quick-dry pant. I ordered Kuhl, North Face and Prana, several styles and both size 6 and 8. I ll compare how I found them to fit, compared to each other. I am 5 9 , 135 lbs, 37.5 hips. Normally, I wear size 6 in pants. I ll paste this same review on each style I purchased. Kuhl: I discovered after ordering them that there are two styles (at least). The rydr rise and KuhlKURVE . The Vala Roll Up is a KuhlKURVE style and fit me the best. Cute style, nice fabric. More stretch and give then the second Kuhl pair I will review. Size 6, long, 34 inseam came right to the floor at the back of my heel. True to size but with a slightly short rise for me. I will return them. The size 8 fit better but still rode up when sitting/squatting. The Kuhl Bandita Convertible is a wider rise which was way too short in the rise and too tight in the hips in both a size 6 and a size 8. If you have much of any curves, I d suggest the KuhlKURVE style. If you have a long torso as I do, Kuhl might not work for you. I d rate the Bandita Convertible, rydr rise as smaller than their size. Even in a size 8, they were too short in the rise and tight across my hips. If I went up to a size 10, they d be huge everywhere else. North Face: I went up a size based on other reviews and ordered the Paramount Valley in 8 long. They touched the floor with about 1/2 extra. The fit was good. However, the style is fitted at the hips but has very wide legs, all the way down. I don t prefer that style. And, just to note, the seams on the upper part of the pants don t match the seams on the zipped on lower leg at the inseam. I suppose it wouldn't really be noticeable since it is on the inseam. I would rate them as smaller than true since I fit in size 8. I also ordered the Horizon Tempest Weimaraner Brown 8/long. They fit well. The material is not stretch and doesn't have much give. For climbing, squatting to take photos, etc. I think they would pull and not be great. I would say they run small since I fit in an 8. I also ordered an 8 regular and they fit a bit looser but were too short. So sometimes the same size in different lengths fit differently. The Horizon Tempest is noticeably smaller/lighter weight than the Paramount Valley, if packing size/weight is of concern. Prana: Monarch Convertible: True to size. However, the regular inseam is just 30 with a measuring tape. It fell at the top of my feet. Way too short. The long is 34 inch inseam but due to the style of the pants, they are very long. About two inches too long for me. If I kept them, I would have to hem them. They are very fitted and really nice stretch material. Cute style. Heavy weight compared to the others I reviewed. I wouldn't use these for tropical climates. One problem is that the convertible zipper hits me right on my knee caps. I think it s not a flattering length on me to wear capris chopped at the knee, and also, the zipper rubs my knees when walking without being zipped off. I think hiking down or uphill, the zippers would irritate my knee caps. Otherwise, they are great and a really cute fit. I would keep them if it weren't for the zippers hitting my knees.

ARGH! These pants are SO infuriating! The length is GREAT but the waist area is AWFUL! I ordered my regular size and a size up. Regular size was too tight in the front/hip area but fit around the rear. Size up was STILL squishy in the front/hip AND I could fit my purse in the back. I LOVE Zappos but these pants are not kind to curvy girls!
