Ouch! Why?! From the reviews, I was excited for a comfortable shoe, but this that hasn't been my experience. The sole and fabric are very soft and flexible. In fact, the fabric looks pre-worn it's so soft. However, the zig-zag stitching is done with a thick thread and isn't backed on the inside in any way. So in addition to the heel blisters I got from the shoe, the abrasive stitching left me with blisters on the top and side of both feet-wherever the stitching touched most. It's not that the shoe was tight or loose--fit is perfect. I just expected a smooth surface where the shoe contacts my feet. This isn't what you'll get. Something to think about if you are blister prone at all.

Loved these shoes when I first tried them on and walked around the house. However, after a day of wearing they became uncomfortable. I was getting a blister on my heel, and the shoes felt too tight across the ball of my foot. I got the size I usually get in Born, so sizing is not the issue. I usually love Born flats, but I will be returning these.

Very comfortable foot bed, but the back of the shoe scratched up my heels horribly! The shoe is a perfect if, and was great for walking, but the elastic sides causes the back of the shoe to dig into my heels, so much so that the skin was scratced and bleeding. Needed to find band aids while out with my family because it hurt so bad. Will have to apply heel pads before wearing them again.

This shoe looks and feels cheap. Although it is a leather upper, it looks like bonded leather. Ran a little large, and no arch support. Very disappointed.

I was surprised by all of the good reviews of this shoe, especially as far as comfort. I found them to be more narrow than a medium width. But the biggest issue I had was the elastic material around the top of the shoe - for me it is very scratchy and irritating to the skin. The higher tab in the back is also a problem for me as it digs into the back of my heel. I've never had these problems with any other shoe. As far as style, I'm not a fan of how it looks on the foot. While "toe cleavage" has never been appealing to me, this shoe comes up too high on the top of the foot. Between that and the rounded toe, it almost has an orthotic shoe look to it. I ordered the black and the leather is nice. It does seem like a decent quality shoe.

Well, if you're truly a size 6 apparently you're SOL for having these comfy ballet flats (at least I think they'd be comfy, I can't really say). The 6 was huge, and my friend who wears a 7.5 could wear them. The 5 feels along the lines of a true 5 and is way too small. And looks like 5.5 doesn't exist??! I really needed a comfy ballet flat for work but it looks like my search continues.

These in grey appeared distressed right out of the box. The right shoe especially was so distressed, it looked as if someone had worn it for a year, even though the underside was clearly new. Ummm... quality control anyone? Otherwise, fit fine and felt comfortable. Too bad. Returned.

This shoe had great potential, possibly the most comfortable flats I've every worn. Unfortunately, the left shoe is a different cut than the right (comes up much higher on top of foot/isn't cut as close to toes as right foot). I thought this was a fluke of the pair I was sent, so I ordered another pair to match the best set. But the same was true for the other pair. The difference was noticeable enough for my husband to comment on, and he is not a picky guy!

UPDATE** I originally gave these a glowing review. I found a hard lump in the inner soul and exchanged this shoe. The replacement pair came and the length of the part of shoe covering the toes was much shorter than the original pair, and they felt smaller and much more narrow. Frustratingly returning them AGAIN. Five stars for Zappos return policy, not so much for the inconsistency of the shoe.

After 3 attempts, I had to give up on these. I am a true size and had sized down to a 7 (for the first time ever) for fit. Unfortunately, the right heel all 3 pairs felt stretched out in such a way that it felt "broken," and almost shorter than the left, so my heel never felt secure. Seems to be a manufacuturing defect with this recent shipment from Born. In addition, the support indicted by others simply was not there - I felt no arch support, and the padding was lacking in the heel area. Clearly not up to typical Born standards. Very sad as it is hard to find a comfy dark brown flat.

I really wanted to love these flats. However, I walk right out of them. I have a very narrow heel though so this might not be the case for everyone. The toe box area has a lot of room.

These shoes ran a little tight. I have previously purchased other shoes from this brand, and the size was perfect. However, I also feel they are a bit narrow, maybe a half size bigger will not feel so narrow.

I have about 10 pairs of Born shoes - one as old as 15 years that I still love - but these are just not pretty. I love a nice ballet flat, but these are cut too wide over the top of the foot, giving the appearance of a wide foot (I have a regular width). The instep is nice, this color brown is 'ehh'...overall, not my favorite Born shoe and getting returned. I purchased Merrell Mimix Bond in Choco Brown and am really happy with that color and style - basically the same price, too.

I was so disappointed because I swear by Born shoes but when I put them on the stitching around the edge of the shoe rubbed my feet really bad. I am a teacher and need to have shoes be 100% comfortable.

I wasn't expecting this from Born. The leather looked cheap and there was barely any arch support. One of the reasons I like Born is the thick, handsome leather and strong construction. This didn't match the brand at all.

I usually wear a 9.5 or 10 in dress shoes, so ordered a 10. It was really very tight in the toe box and pressed relentlessly against my big toe on both feet. Very sad to return these, and they had such great reviews. Did no one else have this problem? I would have tried a 10.5 but that size was not offered.

I found these shoes to be uncharacteristically uncomfortable, given what I know of the Born brand. They were very narrow at the ball of my fit and rubbed at the joint of my big toe to the point of skin degradation (no blister, they just rubbed the skin off). They have zero arch support and very little support in the sole. After a day of wearing them at work, the aggravated a years old and fully healed ankle injury. They look very stylish, but aren't worth the discomfort.

I ordered the navy blue version of these shoes. The color was not at all what's pictured and there were scratches all over them. It's kind of like the shoes looked like they were navy once upon a time, but had faded to a powdery light blue version of their former self. Took them out of the box, looked at them, tried them on just to see if they fit, then put them right back in the box to return. Greatly disappointed.

I walked 2 blocks in these and they tore up the back of my ankles like crazy. I had to take them off and walk home barefoot. They're cute looking I guess, if they don't tear your skin off.

I just love Born shoes! They always fit so amazing - as did these! Like wearing slippers! However, I didn't think they were very pretty - not pretty enough to spend this much on them.

I have purchased Born products faithfully for many years and am always impressed by the fit and the long lasting quality and comfort. This pair of basic flat shoes were incredibly uncomfortable from the moment I put them on my foot. I wore them for two days indoors on my carpet and thought that maybe the leather needed to stretch a bit - I got horrible blisters on the top and sides of my foot from the abrasive elastic and the insole began to peel up from the shoe on day three, making them even more uncomfortable. They felt cheap and did not live up to my Born expectations in any way. I have bought shoes from Target and Walmart that did not cause such discomfort and held up better. I love Born.

After wearing these around for one day I noticed that the dye was starting to wear off onto my feet. For the price, I would expect better quality. They also rubbed the backs of my heels and the arch support didn't reach my arches. They do look nice, but can't live with the stained feet.

These shoes are so cute and comfortable, but they stink - literally! I do not normally have gross feet, but within seconds my feet begin to sweat and then they get smelly. I really wish they had a leather interior, or maybe even another type of cloth to wick the moisture away. I have done everything that I can think of (even washed them in the washer), but nothing helps (except socks, but just no). That is so disappointing.

So cute! These are on their way back to Zappos because although they looked cute, they sizing was way off. I wear a 6.5 wide usually. These shoes were so long. I could've worn a 6, but they then would be too narrow. Bummed.

I purchased Julianne's in off white...they are not off white....they are dove grey. Although they are lovely in every way, the leather is quite porous and the shoes get very dirty every time I wear them. I use leather cleaner each time but the dirt is embedded and won't come out. I've contacted Born directly and am sending a picture of these shoes with a note of concern. This is a disappointment.
