I bought these for my son who needed steel toed boots for his work. He had just bought son Red Wing boots and he said he had to break them in and they were rubbing blisters on his feet. I ordered these and they felt great. There was no need to "break them in". These boots do have vents in them so they are cooler than than some boots but my son wears them in the freezer where he works with no problems.

I had to have steel toe boots for work, but hate the typical brands of Timberland, CAT, etc. I had only worn Keen Newport H2 sandals, so I tried the sizing by those. The boots fit perfectly, and are sized just like the sandals. They are comfortable at work without adding any extra insoles, and my feet can breathe all day long. In typical Keen fashion, the wide toe box feels great and not confining. As a mechanic, I put my boots through a lot between kicking lift arms in/out, kneeling down (the toe rubber is perfect for the longevity of the boots in this way), and stepping in oil and chemicals. I'm super happy with these boots, and recommend them highly.

Great boot! Much lighter than the Pittsburgh but stiffer than a standard hiking boot. Fits true to Keen sizing and in general. I wear the same size in this work boot with a steel toe as the Targhee II Mid hiking boot.

Great work shoe - comfortable, true to size, good for someone with a wider foot. Lighter weight and ventilated. Bought for my husband, he loves them.

Love, love, love these! The most comfortable steel toes I've found. Feels like slippers on my feet, but w/ support! Getting ready to order another pair to rotate.

I have been wearing these daily (M-F) for the past 3-4 weeks and they are great. Super comfortable and my feet don't feel tired at the end of the day. Even with the vents they do run a little warm, but nothing major. When I wear this pair out I will buy another.

I ordered the Detroit Mid D-wide and was sent a sort of used shoe. Zappos was wonderful as always on the return. I opted for this Flint instead. Rep suggested men's D because of width issue. This shoe feels and looks great. I can wiggle my toes a little while the heel box holds my heel in place for stable walking/standing. I was afraid of the weight of the shoe (do not need steel toe right now but have been in situation where I did need them. Will use for the many hiking trails in Ann Arbor, but wanted steel toe so I'd have them in case). The weight is fine for short treks and maybe long ones because the shoe's comfort may compensate for the heavy shoes on my feet. The shoe is a keeper for me. I have lots of Keen shoes and never ever ever ever disappointed.

Bought these boots for my son (he is a HVAC tech) to wear as work boots and he says they are the most comfortable boots he has ever owned.

One of the most comfortable work boots I've owned. These replaced a pair of Timberland 6" boots that were bothering my achilles tendonitis and with the lower cutout back they are perfect. They are also warm and waterproof!

These boots hurt my ankle the first week I wore them but now they are broke in and feel like running shoes. Very comfortable and and good support. I cant even feel the steel toe part of the boot after the break in.

Great work boot. I wanted a work boot with good ventilation, and this is it. Very comfortable, feels like wearing slippers to work. I usually wear a 9.5 or 10 depending on the boot, these fit good in a 9.5. They feel a little wide because of Keen's traditional wide toe area, good feel for work, but I don't think I would want to hike in them. I just hope the soles don't split like my Danner and Rocky boots did.

These boots are durable and should hold up well. However the soles are stiff and will take a while to break them in. I have had mine for 3 weeks now and they are now getting comfortable. The style is classic Keen. They are also one of the first boots that I have bought from Keen that are true to size.

I use these as a necessary part of my orthotic support. Durable, sturdy, nonskid, and I really like the end clips to hold laces tight while you're doing up the knot. Tongue can be a little narrow to cover the front of my entire ankle/legbone. Soles will collect clods, they're better for walking than muddy work. Even with mesh to vent them, these boots can become very warm in our hot weather.

After 3 - 4 times wearing these boots anywhere from 4 - 10 hours, I'm still experiencing the feeling of my toes uncomfortably pressing into the toe of the boot with thin to medium socks. I believe there may still be some breaking in to do, and my next attempt will include wearing my heaviest socks, but of all the Keen shoes, clogs and sandals I've owned over the past 20-ish years, these came out of the box and continue to be the most uncomfortable. I imagined they would be cushioned and comfy, but I am willing to give them a couple more tries.

I read the reviews that these were great shoes to stand on your feet all day. This was not the case. Where was the cushioning? Not on these shoes. My feet were in so much pain, I could barely stand by the end of my 8 and 1/2 hour shift. Yes, these are beautiful shoes, but don't buy these for work to stand for an extended period of time.

I bought these shoe's based on the reviews that said that these shoe's were a great steel toed shoe to be on your feet for 8 hours or more. This is not the case nor is it true. These shoe's were brutal to stay on your feet for 8 hours or more. They are so "scuffed" up, I can't return them. I will use them for yard work I guess, but these shoe's are not comfortable to stay on your feet for 8 hours.

These are my anti-Keen's. I've had six pair of Keen shoes and boot, all of which are the best shoes I've had on my feet. These seemed to have the same sole and foot bed as my previous pair of Detroits and Atlantas, but they sure didn't feel like them. They may be perfect for other foot types, but not mine. Going to take them up on the comfort guarantee and take these back.

Bought two pairs of these and both pair had the same problem. Liner inside toe area not adhered to shoe and my toes contacted it, would have caused chaffing quickly. Both left and right shoe in both pairs. Zappos customer service is great and sending replacements and I'm returning these.
Have bought Keens Utilities for the last 10 years, probably 7 pairs and never had a problem until now.

My farmimg husband started wearing his boots mid April 2019. Very comfortable on his 9EE foot. Mid June the bottom layer of sole started to come off along the edges. I used Shoe Goo to try to prevent further separation. Sadly, the bottom layer of the sole is now separated all over. Too bad as the upper is great and Keens fit my husband's short wide foot well. I checked his and my Keen sandals (old and still going strong) and though the sole is layered, the outter edge is solid. The Utility Flint has the bottom layer come up the sides, and this is where the separation began. Love Keens but they need to address this issue, seems like a minor tweak to sole construction would give the boots a strong one year's worth of wear.

Boots fit great and I was looking forward to a lot of use. But by the 4th time I word them the sole started yo delaminates away from the boot. Sand and grit are getting in between the sole and the foot bed I wish I could say they are a great boot but I need to return them as defective.
