I just took my new Columbia fleece jacket out for our last camping trip of the season. One tiny ember popped off the campfire and stuck hard to the front of the jacket, resisting all attempts to be brushed off and burning a finger-sized hole through to my shirt. In the last dozen years I've primarily used two fleece jackets to camp in: one older Columbia hoodie for colder weather and a pullover model by the company named after the bottom of South America. Both of those have suffered numerous little embers off campfires and even small melted areas, but the embers could always be quickly brushed off, and never burned all the way through. The fabric of this new fleece held the ember fast as it burned. Probably not a good idea to use this fabric for outdoor gear. One star for comfort before it burned/melted.

My husband loved this sweater. It's very soft. It's true to size and it allows for some light layers underneath.

Needed to replace my 13 year old Steens Mountain Buffalo, This jacket is almost exactly what I wanted, It is a lot lighter of a grey than shown in the picture. Would have given it 5* if it was darker like in the picture.

Steens Mountain fleece has a time proven design that is not flashy, but rather it is a solid design that will not go out of style. Its medium weight material bridges the temperatures Fall to Winter, and Winter to Spring in the northern U.S. and southern Canada. Add a parka shell and the wearer can manage for months. It has quality in both its materials (fleece, zipper, elastic cuffs and jacket hem), as well as its production in assembly. The value comes in the reasonable price for a long wearing product. I am 6 ft 2 in tall, 34 in sleeve, 43 in chest, and weigh 180 lbs. The large (L) standard size fits perfectly, with room for a heavy sweater, if desired. I live in Ohio.

Great fit and a smokin' deal! Will have to wait a few months to check for insulation qualities, but I'm sure this jacket will work out just fine.

This jacket is a bargain and is perfect for my son's hiking trip. It fit him well, with enough room for a layer underneath. And he was happy with the style, color and material... and he is very picky!

Very good for the price. A little thiner than I expected but still kept me warm.

I ordered 2 of the heather grey in medium. Overall, they are great. Lightweight and warm, I've worn them outside in 40F, no wind and it kept me warm. I'm 5'6, 170lbs, and the medium is a nice fit. The zippers are smooth. My one issue is with the quality. One of them came with a hole in the left pocket, looks like the sewing was incomplete. I've already worn it once, and unfortunately I didn't use the pocket until later, so not sure I can return it. Even if I could, I'm not sure it would be worth the hassle with having to pay for shipping and such anyways. Since it's not a tear/rip, I feel like I can fix it myself with my limited sewing ability.

I'd love to be able to recommend this fleece. I'd love to keep buying more of them. However, after owning five of them and having problems with four of them so far, I am likely to look elsewhere for fleece jackets in the future. Positives: I love the fabric. It's soft, doesn't pill up, and it says that way over repeated washes. This is my favorite part of this fleece. Negatives: Out of the five I own, three of them have come out of the dryer with shattered zipper "heads". The zippers seem to be made out of plastic, and just don't last through very many washes. I can still wear the fleeces without being able to zip them up, but it reduces the function. In one of the cases, the destruction of the zipper head also pulled teeth out of the zipper, so that one can't be zipped at all. Of the remaining two, on the first wash a large hole opened up in the seam on the arm of one. So far I haven't had any problems with the remaining fleece, but it's only been in the wash once. My first recommendation to Columbia is to use a better quality zipper in this product, even if it increases the price a little bit. I've never had a zipper in anything else shatter like these do. My second recommendation is to make sure your assembly creates garments that actually stay together. I shouldn't have to repair them after one wash.

I got this to use as a midlayer under my ski jacket. Go a size down from what the sizing chart. Usually wear L and the medium works better under the jacket.

A staple, versatile, frequently used item in my closet. This fleece jacket is perfect as an outer-layer or mid-layer. Price is great when on sale. I have multiple colors of this product. Nice quality (not super thin, has nice weight but not very thick), fits well (I wear medium, about 6ft, 170 lbs), washes well. Keeps me warm. Has two zippered outside pockets and one inside unzippered pocket. Only once did the main zipper separate. A great product.

This jacket is lightweight and comfortable. I bought it as a gift for my significant other and he loves it. I have the women's version and I love mine as well.
