I've been a New Balance customer for ages, as it's almost impossible to find a B width in other brands. I've worn the 813's for years and the 811's (I think) for years before that. I always loved the fit and the shoes. But things change and NB no longer makes these. I've been searching for a replacement and even resorted to eBay to find old 813's. But that time has gone by. These looked great in the pictures and I was excited. But upon receiving them and putting them on, they felt stiff and the tops cut into my ankles painfully. I wore them around inside for a few days hoping they'd loosen up to no avail. It's worth noting that in the past I loved the 813's because they immediately felt comfortable, with no break in period. They're going back. It seems that this shoe design comes up higher and tighter around the ankles than the 813's did and that's a problem for me. I would love to know if NB designed a new shoe to take the place of the old 813's.

I've worn New Balalance shoes for more than 40 years in size 10 D. This 'walking' shoe was EXTREMELY SNUG. Cannot wear!

I've worn 14 4E for my entire life but recently something has changed with some 14 4E shoes I order. I can order Rebok 14 4E (Quad) and they fit every single time. This includes a pair I just ordered last year. I decided to give New Balance a try to mix it up and there is no way these are 14 4E. I could barely get my left foot in the actual shoe and it was very tight and uncomfortable to the point I didn't even need to stand or anything. There was just no way my foot was going in there properly. The length was spot on but the width was not valid. Maybe I have to try 5E and size down as needed? I did like the basic, plain all white look of the sneakers though as that style will go with anything you wear.

These shoes CREAK. Very loudly. Not acceptable.

Toe box is cramped, and a great deal of heel slippage regardless of sock thickness.

Felt uncomfortably smaller . If I hadn't worn them for over a week I would return them. Will reorder in a larger size.

Shoes made an awkward squeaky sound when walking, not from the soles, but from within the shoe. While the sound might go away after break in, I don't want to risk having noisy shoes. They also do not feel like an extra wide, the toe box was tight and pressed my toes together. Shoes did feel stable and somewhat comfortable if it weren't for these two issues.

To narrow and I have bought 4E for 20 years

The tongue is too short to accommodate the laces and in the case of the pair I got they were not of the same length. Difficult to get into, and still stiff and squeaky after numerous miles in them.
