I ordered these shoes thinking they would be like my 813 which I absolutely love but you were out in my size. I read the different reviews of thought these would be okay I didn't know they were smaller in width. I ordered mens 577 8 4E. The first time I wore them they seemed a little tight in the arch and I knew that I wouldn't be able to return them because I had worn them. I have them for the last two days hoping they would stretch out and today they seem a little less tight and I have adjusted the shoelaces also. My toes have plenty of wiggle room which is important. I have been wearing New Balance shoes now for over 15 years. They seem to be a very well put together shoe and hold up well. This is first time I have ever do a review.

577's are replacing my 3.5 year old 928's which are beginning to some signs of wear. Love my 928's. Went with the lower priced 577's so I could afford a second pair of shoes instead of just one. Very similar in fit to my 928's and expect they will be just as comfortable on long walks. Once spring arrives and I can start using the trails again I can get a truer test to see how well they hold up compared to the 928's. Until then I'm limited to the treadmill and walking track at the fitness center.

I’ve only worn them 3 times to walk the dog. They felt good from the start. I’d like a little more cushioning, but knew these were a compromise because for winter I wanted more substantial uppers than I could get in running shoes.

Here is my belated review.. I have been wearing this pair of shoes for two years now. Like some reviewers have said, my shoes did tend to sound like a frog croaking,but it was not too loud and went away in about 4 weeks. If I wear flip flops or go barefoot, my feet will start to hurt, but when I put these shoes back on my pain goes away. So, that lets me know they have pretty good arch support. After two years, I only have normal wear on the soles and the uppers and inside the shoe still look great. Overall, I am happy with these shoes. (And I don't like wearing shoes!) P.S. I could not believe how fast Zappos got me my shoes. I wish all companies were like that.

The instep and width were too narrow, even though I ordered an 11.5 2E. The style was great. The Merrell Cham Limit 11.5 M ended up fitting me perfectly, although cost $40 more. Comfort is everything!

The shoe, 11.5 2E was too narrow across the ball of the foot and the instep for my son. The shoe is well made, nicely padded, without a huge logo.

I've been wearing this model for years. They are comfortable and nicely made. They get plenty of use and are worn at some point almost daily, especially over summer.
They do break down, however, after about 6-8 months. The back inside starts to fray, right where my heel/calf are and the material wears through. The bottoms flatten out or lean to one side based on my own walking style.
Overall, happy with the purchase but know I have to replace them regularly.

This is the second time I have purchased these New Balance 577 in the last 3 years. Both times they ran about 1/2 size small and I had to send back and re-order. Since I ordered during sale and the sale is now over, I will have to wait until a new sale to replace.

Bought for my husband's work shoe. He needed a tennis shoe/ comfort shoe that would take polish. These fit the bill. He has wide feet and these are still comfortable. Only drawback: they smell awful after a twelve hour shift, especially if they get at all wet. Not terribly breathable.

These are great shoes! I work 12-hour shifts on my feet, and this shoe has lasted me nearly 6 months of heavy use (and I'm a 270-pound man!) - better than most shoes I've bought. My only complaint: these shoes have only 5 TINY holes at the base of the tongue for toe ventilation. My feet get VERY sweaty and stinky in them after 12 hours as a result - so bad that I'm straight to the shower as soon as they come off! But at least they don't hurt by the end of the night!

I received a pair of shoes that were previously worn and although they arrived with an inspectors tag in the box apparently he failed to precisely do the inspection of these shoes because both shoes had somewhat dirty soles,the laces of both shoes were undone (one was dirty),the tag that usually comes attached to shoe was inside the box. I have to say that when I opened the box and saw what was inside I was not happy with what I saw,Not orderly packed and all very DIRTY and like someone had thrown away these shoes.
I decided to keep them because otherwise the inside of the shoes was like "new"????, and they fitted okay. LP

Although a bit clunky looking, these are super comfortable (why are those qualities related inversely?). Lots of room in the toe box, easy to slide in my orthotics. Excellent value, workmanship seems good, as expected for this dependable brand.

These shoes fit comfortably but the right shoe has two defects. The tongue is not long enough for me to hold onto when putting the shoe on. The Velcro flap is too short so loosening it is a chore.

I've been wearing this shoe for years; this is probably the fifth pair I've purchased.
Generally, true to size and width. I get about 8-9 months before the seams begin to separate. They are worn multiple times a week.

These shoes are okay. Comfortable to wear at work without looking too casual, but as others have mentioned they definitely squeak. Kinda of like a vinyl sound. These shoes would be great for walking all day on city streets, but maybe not the office. I will use these as my tourist walking shoes.
