These ended up being darker than I though they were going to be, but I would have kept them despite the color if they had fit. I really wanted to keep them. I really liked the sole and the style. I've always had problems finding boots to fit my calves, they are usually never large enough. If you usually have a hard time finding a boot that will fit your calf, then these will probably not work for you. Other than that, I really liked everything else. Was really bummed to have to return them.

The shoes feel comfortable but the leg opening is so small I can't fit anything but a bare leg in it, therefore, these boots don't work for me and I had to return it.

I love these shoes! They are comfortable, stylish, and functional. Some things I have noticed: I usually wear a size 7.5 but after reading several reviews I ordered a size 8, which fits well, especially when I wear thick socks. I can't tuck "boot cut" pants into these boots, because the ankle is small but they work great with skinny jeans or tights. The color of the leather is darker in person than it looks online. Overall, I still love them and after buying this pair I will definitely try other Merrells.

These boots look great but I could not get my foot in them. I have very petite feet, small ankles and calf. I could not get my left foot into the shoe at all, after fighting with the right boot I was able to get ti on and zip it up. The calf fit snug. There is no way I could wear skinny jeans inside these boot. Leggings only. I am planning on returning these and finding somewhere that I can try these boots on in person in bigger sizes because I he style and the fact they are weather proof.

Very happy with these boots! Really comfortable, no breaking in period. Just rugged looking enough. The fact they're waterproof is a bonus. Wearing mostly with skirts but maybe a little snug for tucking in jeans. Since they are leather, possibly will stretch somewhat over time.

I just bought these boots and tried them out today. I am typically a size 9, but they only had a 9.5. So I put a gel insert inside and figure I can wear thick socks. With those slight modifications the boots fit great. They seem pretty comfortable for day one, although I might have some rubbing on the backs of my heels. I'm a little nervous about the buttons staying on after reading some of the other reviews. The boots are a bit darker brown than the "Cinnamon" shown in the photo. I would recommend some sort of insole for added comfort. They are mostly comfy on their own, but I was hoping for 'memory-foam-molded-to-my-foot' kind of comfort. Overall, I am happy with the boot and plan to rock them at a Renaissance Festival this weekend and then for the rest of the fall/winter. For the money, I am hoping they last me a good long time!

I really wanted these boots to fit. They are so cute. The calf is just too wide for my legs. The gap looked funny and they are unfortunately going back.

Really a nice boot, but the shaft is too short and skinny for my calves! Wish I could have kept them, but I'm going to have to look at something else.

The shoes are stylish, great to walk in, and generally water resistant (the zipper will get wet). I have used these for travel to numerous places and they are great for getting through airport security and stylish enough to wear to dinner with jeans. That said, I am hesitant to buy another pair. To me the shoes have three problems. The buttons fall off relatively easily. I have hot glued them back on but I wish that these would be redesigned without the buttons. The shoes are far less attractive with the buttons missing and the metal grommets are left behind. The zipper starts to stick after a while. I have had three pairs of these and over time it is effort to get these to zip on or off. The leather tears in places. I expect scruff marks, but these do damage easier than you might expect.

Super comfy and I like the style, but after 2 years, they are no longer waterproof. I had hoped they would last longer than this for the price. I'll keep wearing them when it's dry out, but am disappointed since I bought them just for that reason. They are a little broad in the forefoot area. I have size 10 feet and they look a little mannish to me. I get lots of compliments when I wear them, though.

I bought these boots a couple years back. I love the look. They run small and took forever to break in, but once broken in, they are incredibly comfortable. Unfortunately, they're highly water-resistant, but not really water-proof. I can walk ages in relatively dry snow and my feet stay dry. I can walk through one or two deep puddles and stay dry, but eventually the water resistance breaks down and my feet get soggy. It's a shame because I live in a climate where snow instantly becomes slush and settles into deep puddles.

I love these boots so much that I replaced the sole several times and even bought a second pair after the first pair wore out entirely. However, on the second pair, the zipper broke and now I don't think I want to buy a third pair, because they really don't last that long.

I wanted to like this shoe so much. I have wide, dancer's calves and it was just too tight. No way I would have gotten jeans or leggings in there.

I love the fit, look, and feel of these boots, but have had some issues with their durability (or lack thereof). I first bought them early in 2011 and was very pleased with them. They are truly waterproof, warm in the winter without overheating my feet, and have an edgy look thanks to the awesome button details. However, the right zipper on this first pair broke 4 months after I got them, failing around the ankle where the leather slouches. I contacted Merrell and was told to take my issue to the retailer, which I did. Zappos was great, giving me no hassle about my return. Seven months later, still needing some waterproof boots, I (foolishly?) decided to buy these Merrells again, hoping the first pair were just lemons. This time I went a full year without any problems, until the buttons started popping off. Fortunately, Merrell agreed to send me a packet of replacement buttons. Although I had to superglue them on, this worked pretty well. HOWEVER, my saga continued recently with another broken zipper, busted in the same place as the first one. Now I will have to pay to have the zipper replaced. Considering the price of these boots, the extra expense is a nuisance. Plus, my feet will be wet and sad in backup shoes until the boots are fixed. If it weren't for the zipper issue, this would be a five-star review.

Fabulous boots. Beautiful finish in waterproof boots. Only issue is the buttons come off. Merrell supplied more buttons, but I could not get them to attach--called and they advised going to a shoe repair; they said by submitting receipts I would be reimbursed!

Really cute boots, and would have been perfect except the calf size even with the gusset was too narrow for me, and I have thin legs...so it made the whole thing uncomfortable.

This boot was so beautiful and wonderful and everything I wanted but was WAY too narrow through the ankle part of the shaft. It was impossible for me to get my foot through. I thought I could order up a size and it work but after I finally fought my way into the boot the foot bed actually fit true to size if not a hair on the big size for a 7 1/2. Sadly I'll be returning.

I bought these boots and loved them, but I had to return them (not to Zappos; I bought them from another supplier that no longer carries them). The problem was that the first button popped off within a month of their first wearing, and another one popped off three months later. This is a quality manufacturer and the boots were not cheap (I had paid full price), so this just wasn't acceptable. It's a shame, because they were extremely comfortable and looked really great. Caveat emptor.

Preferred the leather on the Born boot -- the fit was better, too. Waterproofing isn't a plus for me -- boots are for style and some warmth on cooler days where I live -- no snow and not much rain. After trying the boot once more, I noticed the toe was cut at angle from the outside that severely reduced the toe room, which would start to cause pain in a short time. Perhaps sizing up to an 8.5 would have solved the problem, but I find in other Merrell styles I wear 7.5, or 8 with heavy socks, so the sizing issue is just another minus added to the list. Nice boots...for someone else.

Great boots, cute and comfortable, and rather waterproof. HOWEVER THE DECORATIVE BUTTONS POP OFF. I got a pair of these for x-mas, and within a week the buttons started popping off which makes the boot look funky and old. I am disappointed that a pricey shoe would be so cheaply made that the buttons pop off-- and I was not being hard on the shoes, just normal walking around. I don't think I would buy these again, unless Merrill is willing to send extra buttons along with each pair.

I am so bummed! I just got these boots today and have to return them because I cannot zip them up past the calf. I did not think that I had big calves (14") but these just would not go past my jeans tucked inside. Otherwise, they are a beautiful pair of boots that look even better in person.

I love the look and feel of these boots, but the buttons pop off pretty easily -- I lost two inside a month of buying them. They're actually covers over rivets, so there's no way to put them back on, and I didn't have a lot of success with glue -- so now I'm rocking some little silver bits on the edges of my boots. I hear this has happened to a lot of people, so thumbs down to the design team.

I just got these in the mail and was super excited about them. But sadly, they do not fit well. The length of the shoe was fine, but they were pretty snug around the instep and the very tight around the calves. I'm petite and have never had a problem with boots fitting around my calf, so it was a little surprising. I own about 7 pair of boots and this is the first time that has happened. I got them to zip but they didn't feel comfortable, and would not have zipped over jeans. The look and feel of them is great and I decided to try a half size larger. I'm still waiting for those in the mail but I'm crossing my fingers because they are perfect for what I need. I wouldn't say they are fashion boots, but for waterproof walking boots they are much nicer than others I have seen. They will be perfect for winter in Europe!

I am always trying to find clothes and shoes that I can wear for long dog walks involving wet fields and forest without looking too dowdy. These boots fit the bill. They are too wide in the forefoot to be super fashionable, but they don't look awful, and I might even be able to wear them with a casual skirt. I have not water-tested them yet -- I am assuming they will perform as advertised. I initially ordered my normal size 8.5. I tried the boots on with a very thin microfiber tight and they were super tight. The calf was snug but not too tight. I sized up to 9 and tried them on with a light running sock. They are a bit big, and they are a little wider in the calf. Basically, they feel like what I would expect a 9 to feel like. But the 8.5 felt more like an 8. I am going to keep them anyway, but other buyers should expect size inconsistencies.

They seemed well made, and we're very comfortable. There was plenty of room to tuck my jeans into them, but the look was too rugged for my taste.
