Bought these for my 13 year old son's trip to summer camp in ME. Splits the difference between sneakers and hiking boots perfectly. Fits true to size and comfortable right out of the box. These worked out really well for him - he'll wear them through the fall when his feet will undoubtedly grow again. By the way - nothing like Zappos service. I ordered 5 different pairs of similar shoes, they came the next day, he tried them all on and found the perfect pair - all without leaving the house! It's the only way to shop. Love you Z!

The shoes are more than what I expected. Good fit and comfortable. This will not be the last Merrell product that I will buy.

Fantastic shoe! Only had it for a couple days and went on a 14 mile hike in the mountains. Perfectly comfortable and no soreness. Like it was pre-broken in.

These are the shoes I would want in a post apocalyptic world. Picture this; stores looted, supplies of necessary goods are gone, walking and running from zombies/bandits. If the world ever came to this, your feet would be very well prepared. The Merrell Phoenix is an all around shoe made for every occasion. They are comfy, well constructed, durable, and breathable. Merrell makes the best quality shoes on the market. It feels like each shoe was custom made to your foot. These bad boys need no break in period, they are perfect and comfy right out of the box. They are light, breathable, and great for all year round use. Your toes don't feel like they are stuck in a torture chamber, they have room to move and relax. The soles have excellent traction for wet/icy/muddy conditions. Like I said in a post apocalyptic word where everyone is fending for themselves these shoes as well as other Merrells will stand above all else. Do yourself a favor and pick up a pair of these bad boys.

Extremely supportive, comfortable shoe that's not too "rugged" looking. I wear it to work when dressed casually, and as a daily walking shoe.

I bought these instead of Columbia hiking shoes because I had heard good things about Merrell. These shoes required no break-in period. They were comfortable right out of the box. I bought them half a size bigger because I usually wear thick socks when I hike. After I sprayed water-proofing/preservative on them, these shoes keep water out! They are very impressive.

These are excellent quality shoes. They are very lightweight and surprising softer sole than my older Merrells. They are easy to get on and offfand fit snugly with laces that stay tired.

Have had these about 4 weeks. Great. 2 days to break in and they are super comfortable. I am very pleased with these shoes.

A great rugged, yet casual shoe for everyday wear. I was pleased to get them in a wide width. Clearly, a quality product. I expect them to last.

I was looking for a relatively lightweight trail shoe and this fits the bill very well. More substantial than off-road running shoes but lighter and more versatile than true hikers. It fits well, but I'd say it runs a tiny bit small - although I wouldn't say a half-size small.

First pair of Merrells. I'm a true 8.5 D though usually buy 9 wide in casual shoes but this pair in 9.5 D fit well, and don't feel too narrow or too large using their own insoles. Replaced a similar pair of New Balance shoes for the Merrells, the NB pair that never felt comfortable no matter trying different insoles.

Nice shoe. Quality materials. Run 1/2 size small. I ordered 11 like my running shoes that have room to spare, in this shoe my toes touched the tip of the shoe. Stiff shoe sole.

A nice replacement to my previous Merrells. Maybe slightly less cushion than my old model? But plenty comfy for all day on concrete floors.

Had the shoes for about a month. I bought them for work as I do a lot of urban walking and standing. So far very comfortable and seem to fit true to size.

This basic Merrell shoe is comfortable, breathable, decent looking and is priced right. A nice daily shoe. As always, Zappos is great to deal with.

Runs large, quality materials, needs an upgrade in the insole, not a problem - most shoes do.

The shoes look great. Unfortunately, they do not ventilate very well. My feet sweat and do not feel aired-out. Also, the shoe still feels stiff after two months. The Merrell Moab Ventilator for a little more had better ventilation and comfort.

Merrell must use different lasts on this line of shoes. I can easily and comfortably fit into a 9.5 US 2E in most of their other shoes. However, I had to order a size 10 2E (wide) to get a proper fit. Why can't shoe manufacturers get fit down properly? Can you imagine if tires were made the same way? You would have to try several - even from the same maker - on your car's wheels before knowing whether they would fit. Shoe sizing is ridiculous.

The shoe is very light and run ever so slightly small maybe a half size on the small side. They are a little short and I only use them to work out so no quick stops to run my toes to the end. The cushion is not as thick as I would like, probably why the shoe is so light! Good inexpensive shoe, I over paid for these. Foolish! Hey but they look great!

I am giving these only two stars because they have worn quite poorly, especially relative to other pairs of Merrells that I have owned. I had the Moab Ventilator - their best selling shoe it appears - before these and they lasted longer and wore better. While I do walk quite a bit, in the summer months, these sit in the closet unless hiking. So disappointed that in about 6 months of regular use, the soles have run down significantly. The Phoenix Ventilator costs less than the Moab and I regret not spending the additional money either on these or the competition. I will be seriously evaluating Keens the next time I look at hiking shoes. Perhaps Merrell has lost control over quality as they have become a leading national brand. Needless to say, look elsewhere.

Fits well but not at all conformable. The bottom of the shoe is shaped so that the more you walk the more it forces your foot forward into your toes. If it had any arch support, that would help prevent this. Probably the most uncomfortable shoe I have ever worn.
