I had always admired the recon backpack, so I decided to purchase it since I will be starting college this fall. When I went online, I noticed that a new design was replaced with the old backpacks. Not gonna lie, I was a little saddened, because I loved the design of the old backpack. But, I still went ahead and purchased this one. The backpack is designed great, it fits alot of things very easily. But there's a huge downsider- the straps are VERY uncomfortable. The new backpacks have this weird attachment that connects the back of the backpack to the straps, you can see it in the photos. But, that area creates horrible pain when I wear the backpack. Even pain after I took it off! The backpack also doesn't stand on it's on! The back support is longer than the bottom of the "sack" so it makes the backpack lean forward. There is no flat surface on the bottom. A real disappointment, it is not comfortable at all. Not satisfied 100% with this design, and it's sad because I really was expecting something wonderful! I will be purchasing an old "out of season" recon on a different website and when it comes in, compare it to this recon to see which backpack I like better. The old backpacks have a smooth strand, which I am hoping will work better for me. Really wish I could say I love it, but I don't. Don't think the packs should have been changed so much.

I used my ReconPack for my climbing and hiking adventures. The pack is lightweight but strong, it also allowed me to stuff a lot of thing in the pack, including a gallon of water, without sacrificing comfort.

My Recon Backpack gives me the most comfort and efficiency, whether I'm traveling, going to class, or taking a trip to the zoo. Comfort can be cute.

I love this backpack it fits everything I use for school. Also the laptop sleeve is just perfect. The mesh pocket in the front is perfect if you play sports.

I am a college student who has a lot of expensive technology with me at all times of the day. I love how this backpack is tailored to not only laptops, but also e-readers and smartphones. The extra padding on the tech pockets are my favorite. Definitely a great backpack.

This backpack is perfect. I was a little nervous ordering it online but it's great. It's very strong and comfortable. The part for your computer is amazing because it's thick and will keep it safe.

I bought two of these backpacks for my high school students. They are very well made. The fabric and stitching are high quality, both inside and out. There is plenty of room for a laptop and several books/binders. The backpack also has numerous interior and exterior pockets for easy retrieval of items. My kids like the look of the backpacks, and I love them because they will hold up well to daily use!

Well made, quality backpack. I finally found something that won't fall apart in a month. I am looking forward to classes!

This backpack was perfect for my son's transition to middle school. It had the school colors and enough pockets for his needs- works great for small trips too and sports as needed- Yeah!

I ordered this backpack for my girlfriend and when it arrived in the mail I noticed it was a little masculine. I exchanged it for a different color.

I bought this to use in college, and I love the padding in the back and all of the different pockets! Great backpack overall.

So far this bag has held up nicely to the daily use of walking to and from campus with a full load of books and notes. The backpack pockets are wider than the last north face bag I had, which makes it easier to pull big books out of. Also, the color is amazing! Really happy with this bag!

Each of our daughters have used The Northface backpacks and we have always been happy with the quality. Now our youngest is attending a school where she is bringing a laptop each day and the room on this backpack is excellent for that purpose.

I'm my sure why this backpack is gender specific, but it provides equal comfort to both sexes.

I did a lot of research before my purchase, because a good backpack ain't cheap! I love this backpack. It is just what I wanted. it fits well and hold a lot of stuff, and that's the goal. I recommend it!

I love my Recon backpack, it serves me a lot of purpose, I am triathlete so I use it a lot, during training, or use as a transition bag during the race, it is very slick and stylish but yet durable

Going into year 3 of college as a Marketing Major, I knew I needed the perfect backpack. I also knew I needed to get away from my hot pink and flimsy back back that was lets just say for junior high. I found myself carrying a backback and books in my hands which is a no when you have to walk across campus. I am also a Colleg softball player and while traveling every weekend and having to carry my laptop on the road, I was thrilled when I noticed my new North Face backpack had a place on the back with tons of padding to protect my laptop. I am always getting complements when carrying my North Face backpack and is hasn't even been a month since recievinf it! Thank you North face! Junior year, here I come!

Great backpack for short day hikes. Has just enough room (but no more) to hold your ten essentials. Could also be used for carrying a laptop for school. I'm only giving it 4/5 because I wish it had a hip-belt. But overall, great pack. Full Disclosure: As a TNF ambassador, I received this pack for free.

The Recon backpack is a great example of where comfort meets utility. I've now used this pack on multiple hikes up mountains in Utah and Switzerland, storing everything from my camera to camping gear efficiently. As well, when traveling, this has been my go to carry on as it has padded sleeves to fit my laptop and kindle. Great pack!

Great looking backpack to start college. Excited to put this into use! It's a great size and the lined pockets were a great touch!
