Previously had a Recon, in middle school into high school and loved it. When it was finally time to get a new one, I wanted the same backpack. It was comfortable and fit everything I needed it to while protecting my laptop. Bought a new one < 2 years ago that was the model before the redesign and the back has already started to rip and show the foam underneath near the base of the backpack. As a poor college student, this was an expensive purchase for me and I am extremely disappointed with the quality of the new backpacks and will probably need to buy a new one shortly. It will probably not be another North Face.

I have been buying North Face backpacks for years and my kids love them and its the only back pack they carry for school, camping etc.

I like the dedicated pockets; it is very well organized and I can carry all of my my notes for work, tablet and lap top easily.

I had a TNF big shot 2 before buying the recon, the strap system is amazing it feels like the pack is half weight with the same amout of stuff in it. Colors are great and organizer is amazing.

I really love this backpack. Not only does it look nice but it's also very comfortable yet durable making it extremely easy to carry all my books, supplies, and computer uphill on my campus.

Took it on one 15 mile hike. Several areas of the fabric wore, frayed and distressed and fabric dye discolored. One hike, standard load. The pack couldn't handle the movement, any moisture, and didn't properly secure. It's pretty obvious that you market a "durable, outdoors" pack for use as a backpack or office laptop carrier. The logo gives off a perception for the user but the actual product doesn't hold up for the way it is marketed. Even worse, is the warranty doesn't cover actual use the way it is advertised.

Comfortable. Could fit a lot of stuff.

I really like this bag. I love the bold colors that NorthFace offers. I also really like all of the compartments within the bag. The only drawback to this bag is that I wish it were wider. If it were wider, I would be able to fit more inside!

I use it everyday. Nice compartments in the bag. Great padding For day to day use. Or weekend adventures

I like that it has compartments for everything I take with me such as sunglasses, water, umbrella, pens etc...I also really like that this backpack holds its structure really well and doesn't crumple on the floor when I try to lean it against something which is something my old Columbia didn't do. I wish it could expand out more to hold all of my books because I am usually carrying a load around with me on campus.

Purchased this for Nephew. He absolutely loves it! Uses it for school, sports, overnight trips etc. Very pleased with this product!

lol my inlaws had bought this for my daughter i believe in her last year of high school. she is now in her third year at college. i had cleaned out her room and realized that i could use it for myself. I was looking for a bug out bag, just going online. there is no comparison. i will get two more for my other children to carry in an emergency, til then ill wear it til it falls apart.

School, backpack, beach, overnighters..its great!

Carries everything I need for school and more. And I still have plenty of room.

My daughter uses this for all things-school, overnights, day trips and just to fit in.

This back pack is no light weight when it comes to versatility. Attractive to look at. Well designed and fully functional for school or a day out in the woods. My daughter is the leader of the pack in school with her posy of friends. And they are all jealous of her new recon pack.

I was hunting for a new backpack for college, and after going through numerous brands, I'm glad I settled with north face. This backpack is great and compact and can fit all of my books comfortably. The reason for 4 stars is because the largest zipper can be tough to open/close, but this con is outweighed by the bags durability. The only thing missing is waterproofing the bag.

I love my Recon backpack. I received mine through LifeWay's Centri Kid Camps and enjoyed using it all summer as a staffer and through the school year as a student! I just purchased a new one for my sister for her birthday.

I love this backpack! I am able to fit all of my folders, notebooks, as well as two 1.5 inch binders and a 1 inch binder. I love all of the compartments in the second pocket, which help me organize all of my smaller supplies. Finally, the outermost pocket is a great place to throw in last minute supplies, such as a granola bar, pencil case, or glasses case.

Best backpack I have ever purchased. Well made,sturdy and comfortable. Lots of room without being bulky.

my daughter absolutely loves this backpack for high school. she stuffs it full with book, notebooks, lunch, extra shoes - everything but the kitchen sink, and it's able to handle the load without killing her back.

I bought this for my high schooler after he destroyed his previous (not North Face) backpack in less than a year (ripped seams, broken zippers, frayed material). It is big enough to carry his books, sturdy, comfortable and looks great. It was more expensive but well worth it for its functionality for school and weekend camping and quality design. Thanks!

I purchased this pack for hiking shot distance and it is great.

I got this backpack to replace my other North face backpack that I had used for over five years. I love this backpack. It is so comfortable, laptop area is padded, and has space for everything. I would highly recommend this backpack for everyday school use.
