Waterproof and comfortable. The only issue is that when the shoe bends, that makes it tighter at the crease.

I've been looking for boots for a while that I could wear casually as well as for mild hiking activities. I really love these ones. They're very comfortable and did not take long to break in, and I love the color. I'm very happy with this purchase

This is my 3rd pair, so I can say with certainty that this boot work well for what they are intended. Light weight, waterproof, comfortable. Did not need any breaking in. I bought three pair because after 3 years of hard use I wanted a new pair to have for a long hiking trip. Then I lost the second pair and needed a replacement. Great boot!

These have quickly become my favorite boots! I think they would go from everything from ball gowns to flannels and jeans, right? Seriously though, they are gorgeous, I get compliments on them all the time, they are so stylish and functional, and needed no time to break in. The sizing is dead-on and the fit is so perfect. Am I gushing enough? If you're on the fence, buy these shoes! You will not regret it!

Bought these for work. So far they've been great . My one complaint is that the ankle is higher in the front than in the back but it doesn't impact the function of the boot at all. They were comfortable out of the box but my feet are fatigued by the end of an eight hour day. May need to replace insoles.

I am amazed how comfortable these boots are, I am so happy with this purchase. The look great and are true to size.

Was leary about buying a hiking boot on line without trying it on. I wanted something lightweight and waterproof. Received the boot promptly and used sole inserts from a previous boot and haven't looked back. The boots fit perfectly and are very comfortable and lightweight. Have worn them in the rain and my feet stayed dry. The traction is great for rocks and soil. Glad I bought them!

i purchased these shoes for our ring road trip around iceland and they held up so well! we hiked around wet rock, mud and on glaciers and i never felt unprepared with them. even my husband was jealous when we were at a waterfall and his waterproof hiking shoes that he paid more for unfortunately weren't super waterproof. my socks never got wet and i went almost ankle deep in water! incredibly impressed. also sooo comfy. hiked over 8 miles in one day with them and never got a blister. great price for amazing shoes!

I haven't had the opportunity to try these out yet, as it has still been very warm here in Missouri. They seem to be very well made, though, and I love the fact they come in the Wide size. They are hard to find in shoe stores here.

These boots run a little large, which is great for wearing a thicker sock. Keeps feet very warm. Lightweight and easy to wear all day long. Laces stay in place and easy to undo a double knot.

Has been finding hiking shoes with styles for years, this is the best so far. The shoes is so comfort even having to wear it for a full whole days. The best part is this shoes is so stylish. It can wear for some dayle cloth. So is the best one for people who only do hiking once and not wasted the shoes and can wear for everyday use

I bought these boots for a recent trip to Iceland. I had to size down 1/2 a size and my boots were still a little big. I doubled up on socks or wore really thick socks. These boots are also pretty cute for being hiking boots. It was great for all the hiking I did in Iceland. Also, I appreciate that Columbia took the time to create a wide foot size option. I've struggled many times finding shoes to fit my wide feet.

No blow outs at seams or delamination of sole, lugs grip but don't clog, no moisture inside, good support and lace up, tuff long lasting hiker beats all makes I've tried, excellent price and good looks, highly recommended.

Bought these for the Mrs. , she tried them on and instantly fell for them. She mentioned the comfort and support off the bat straight out of the box. She and a few friends went walking and ventured to the creek/ revine area. She said she had amazing comfort and the boot rested well on the stones as they crossed the creek. She told me her foot stayed dry and that made her happy. We usually buy the hikers with the tree on the side of them. I guess never no more.

Haven't been hiking yet. Still breaking in around the house to be on the safe side. But nothing rubs wrong. Good support and cushion.

I have acute RA and this is the only shoe I can wear. Well built and last for years. Currently ordering a 3rd pair. (Note for those who need a wide width, the nubuck style is not as wide as the leather version.)

The Newton Ridge is definitely an all around town or hills boot! I wear them when I walk, when I'm lambing out my ewes, cleaning out the barn, when I go to town! You name it! They'll do!

From comfort to grip to everything...this boot is amazing. I'm always a little nervous buying any type of shoe online but the boot is true to size and the comfort is just unbelievable. Great investment.

It is very difficult for me to find any shoe in general that fits. I am 6' 2" with very skinny legs and big feet (for a woman). Usually if I am able to find a shoe that fits length wise, they are always wide and bulky and look awkward with my skinny build. These shoes in a size 11 were a perfect fit and NOT bulky at all. They are very comfortable and the first time I wore them was on a strenuous 12 mile round trip hike (straight uphill one way). I was nervous about not breaking them in first, but had read other reviews about these not really needing a break in period. I was so impressed with how comfortable they were the first time out. The uphill hike was no problem at all. Coming down my feet got a little sore but I don't think it had anything to do with the shoe itself. It was more the downhill slope/terrain and by the next day my feet were just fine, no blisters or anything. I am thinking about purchasing another pair for backup just in case I'm not able to find another shoe that compares down the road. Would highly recommend!

The only reason I'm rating the function and comfort as "good" instead of "excellent" is because I haven't used these shoes enough to give it an unbiased rating. However, they feel and look amazing, and the far-back ankle loops should help a lot with my heel blister problem after I've broken them in.
