The Ruffwear Palisades Pack is awesome! I was going back and forth between this pack and the Approach pack but decided that the detachable packs were worth the additional cost. I'm definitely glad I did. I have a Golden Retriever so he likes to swim. Once I get the harness nice and snug, it's nice that I don't have to take it off just to let him cool off or take a break. I just unhook the pack and let him go. The handle on the top of the pack is also nice and sturdy, allowing me to help handle him better on narrow trails and keep him close when passing other hikers. The pack doesn't move around and it doesn't seem to cause him any discomfort. Actually, now that he knows it means we get to go hiking, he loves it! The only drawback is that the clasps to unhook the pack are a little small. They're easy to unhook once you feel them, but since they are under the pack, it'd be easier if they were a little bigger. Zappos delivered next day and in perfect condition (as always)!

This pack is the highest quality pack I've found for my 2 year old Lab. It is very functional and fits snug so that it won't roll around his torso. Originally when I measured my dog's torso, the fitment guide suggested he should wear a Medium, but when it arrived it was much too small. Zappos has a wonderful turn around time, though, and I was able to get the Large just before an outing. The Large fits wonderfully.

Awesome pack. Small enough that it does not catch on brush as much as older models (not Ruffwear); waterproof, fits collapsible water bowl, water bottles, food and poop bags. The water containers that come with, useless, especially when you have a large dog. Nice that pack clips on and off - without taking off harness. Worth the money.

We love our Palisades pack! Even though it is larger than we really need, we bought it for the water bladders and removable saddle bags. As with all of the Ruffwear we've bought, it is heavy-duty and made to last, even with our rough & tumble, brush-diving setter boy! In response to the other review that said it didn't hold up, (a) it sounds like they are using the fabric loop rather than metal leash attachment and (b) Ruffwear stands behind their product 100%. The only problem we've ever had (with a leash) was replaced with a smile, no questions asked.

I was so disappointed to have to return this item. I have a 30# dog who fits the measurements for the small of this pack. I love the removable packs and the harness fits like a dream. But the bags are way too big for my dog to carry around. They take up about 3/4 of his body! I'm going to try the Approach, but I'm not going to like it nearly as much without the extra features like the removable pack and cinch straps.

Initially my husband and I loved this harness and saddlebags for our Golden Retriever. The fit was easily adjusted and it took no time for him to get used to the weight/fit. Sadly, the ring where his leash attaches to the harness has already started to fray and I don't think it will hold out much longer. For the price we were very disappointed by the lack of quality.
