All around, a good sandal for biking. I've worn them in warm weather this spring and they are great for keeping your feet cool. I'm a size 12 US man's and the 47/48 fits well. They aren't narrow, but they are not wide, either. The mesh webbing underneath the straps is a little rough, but with time they should soften. While the cost seems pricey for sandals, I think they're worth it if you do a lot of warm weather biking.

These are absolutely great. Easy to put on and take off, yet comfortable and supportive. I ride a recumbent trike. If your foot slips off the peddle while going downhill at a decent speed, you will suffer severe injury. These sandals prevent that and also add power to up hill peddling with the upstroke. Don't even think about... Buy these!

Awesome riding sandals!
They fit great and are stiff for riding yet comfortable to walk in.
My husband and I both bought a pair

Super comfortable on the bike. They are ugly as sin, but don't let that stop you. They are way more comfortable on the bike that I could have imagined. I've only got 30 or so miles on them and I really like them for summer riding. I might do a 40mi ride with them this weekend.

This is not a pretty cycling shoe, but it is a comfortable and sturdy cycling shoe...I had trouble finding the Keen version of this, so decided to try it and I love it! I teach spinning several times a week, and this shoe is a work horse. So if you don't mind the looks, and are looking for something durable and comfortable, this is for you.

I knew the size I wanted because I had an old pair. I just ordered the same size.

This is my 3rd pair of Shimano bike sandals and I love them! My first pair purchased in 2005, I used to hike the trails of the Cinque Terre, Italy. The rubber in this pair finally gave out in 2013 while in Key West. I called Zappos and 24 hours later, I received this pair. Great service! I wear a size 9 women's shoe and a 41-42 Shimano sandal. This is the bike shoe I take to Europe on my bicycling trips.

A well built sandal that looks a bit awkward. My review is mostly comparing these to Keen's cycling sandals.
Shimano's sandal has an open toe which may make it easier to get rocks or dirt in under your feet. The fit is great. They are not tight like a typical cycling shoe, but they still attach securely and don't let your feet slip around. Closure is simple and effective. Lining feels nice. Sole seems quite heavy, but very sturdy and stiff as expected for a cycling shoe.

I've had mine for about 200 miles now and am quite happy with them. As others have said, the previous version Shimano spd sandal was definitely better than these but it's not available so...bring it back Shimano! If you're comparing these to the Keen Commuter sandals then I would definitely get these. I've had the Keen's for about two years and am quite glad I finally switched back to Shimano. The Keen have a closed toe that kind of kills the whole point of sandals. The Keen also don't have as positive an engagement of the heel, allowing it to lift during the pedal stroke. These Shimano are much better in the power transfer dept. They're also a bit lighter.

I wanted to really like these and after installing the cleats and cycling 17 miles I thought everything was great. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The next morning I had awful right foot pain and I am convinced that it was from these shoes. They seemed to fit perfectly. What I noticed is that the sandals are very rigid and do not have any cushioning. It is like standing on concrete with these shoes. I am age 51 and am sure this was the problem. These sandals are also much heavier than my other cycling shoes. If you are a young person these may be a good choice but for me I need something that is not so rigid a shoe. I really wanted to wear these for cycling in the rain because they do not need drying out but I cannot deal with anymore possible foot pain. I did not have any foot pain prior to wearing these shoes. I returned them and will stick to my traditional cycling shoes that are far lighter. As far as sizing, if you do go with these shoes, go with several sizes down from what you traditionally wear because the sandals have open toes. I went from a US Men's size 13 cycling shoe that I normally wear to a size US Men's size 8½-9 in these sandals. I hope that this helps.

Have loved these sandals for years, but just blew them out totally on a 4 day, 200 miles ride. The footbed and anchoring areas are falling off in pieces. Commented to one of the other riders, who said he had exactly the same problem with his. So, a good sandal, but not going to last that long. They have also stopped making them, so if you like them, get them now or end up with K**n or?

As a woman with size 12 feet that are long but not wide, I sometimes buy men's shoes in a desperate attempt to meet a need. Didn't work with this shoe. It pushed up too high into my ankle - pretty sure it would have caused blisters on a long bike ride. Also, the toe of the shoe really pushes the toes up into a strange, extended position. Odd.
