I just bought the Breville the YouBrew coffee maker, I am very disappointed, I use Pett's ground coffee but I bought it with the the grinder as an extra just to have. All I am looking for is hot coffee in the morning. I have been using Cusinart for years, we do have a Breville cappuccino maker we love it. But now as I decided on this new coffee maker, as I said I am very disappointed. I see that first of all the plate does not stay hot, today after two days I had to use my old coffee maker, maybe I am doing something wrong? It is not hot. I did try the hot water for 30 seconds and it does not make a difference.

Suggest you stay away from this Breville YouBrew Coffee Maker with Glass Carafe. I'm on my second day of ownership. Followed mfg directions to the letter. Research the heck out of this unit and watched online videos (http://www.brevilleusa.com/youbrew-glass.html), FAQs, etc. What no one tells you in grave detail is this unit stinks for pre-ground coffee users. The unit is really geared for whole bean. There are SO Many pieces to clean. The filter basket lid does not seal tight and the grounds poured all over the place on my 2nd pot. The grounds were every where in every nook and cranny. Took it back to Williams-Sonoma store and got my money back. They did tell me that many of their customer bring back this unti complaining. they suggested the Techni Vorm. So, I purchased the Techni Vorm type # CD-Grand. I love it.

After almost a year of trying to get a decent cup of coffee we took it to Goodwill. We tried numerous brands of whole beans; we talked with the Brevile representative and followed her suggestions; we still got coffee that tasted like hot plastic. We are back to a less expensive pot!!!

This overpriced piece of garbage has been a nightmare to own. I have been sent three replacements over the past 5 months for reasons such as the grinder which stopped working on the first two, and on my last one the grinder was beginning to act up and the clock was running 11 minutes slow! And when the grinder was functioning, it was loud. Extremely loud. I am very unimpressed with this machine and do not recommend it to anyone. For those who have given it a positive review, I guarantee it will only be a matter of time before you start having problems with your You Brew as well. It seems that these are not built to last, and the money they charge for a disposable item is ridiculous. Thankfully Breville is refunding me since I have had so many issues. I will be purchasing a simple coffee maker again which is unfortunate as I own a few other Breville products such as one of their juicers and espresso machines. Hopefully they redesign this product soon and improve it.
