I bought these to replace my GT-2160s, which were the best running shoes that I had ever had. These are just as solid: well-cushioned and stable, an important consideration for me since I am a low-arched overpronator. A small improvement on this latest model is the new laces, which are much easier to tie than the old ones. These are great shoes.

The Asics GT-2170 is my first real running shoe. I just started running about 3 months ago and have been very pleased with the results of this shoe.

Just a great shoe overall, great support and plenty of cushion. Shoe comes in variety of widths. I'm a 4w. Love this shoe - buy them!

I have a wide foot, weigh over 200 lbs. and am very active. Until two years ago I always wore Nike Air. Tried the Asics and loved them. I am into my second pair. They hold up beautifully, no toe through the mesh and they look great. Asics are now my best friend on the road.

This is my fifth pair of Asics and it's the best one yet. They keep getting better. I ran track in high school and college and I've tried a lot of different brands before finding Asics. The "Gel" technology they use to support you feet when walking or running is superior to anything I have tried before. My legs and back do not hurt afterwards now, when either with I'm running or hiking, and after 40 years of running I think I can testify to what sore legs and back feel like from improper support on your feet. Trust me you will not be disappointed with the Asics GT 2170 regardless if you're a runner or just getting them to walk in for support for your back, they are unmatched in performance and comfort!

It is my 8th pair of Asics 2170s (or their previous model equivalents). Fit is consistent (as always, 1/2 size up from normal shoe size for running), and they are as comfortable as always.

This is an excellent running shoe. My previous shoe was the Asics 2150, and the overall feel has not changed...at least for me. If anything, I think it's a bit more comfortable in the forefoot region. I can't tell a substantial difference with the added/extra GEL in the heel. It wears very well is go-to-go straight out of the box. The arch support is great and it fits very comfortably/securely. There are only two downsides in my opinion. The design leaves a little to be desired. I think ASICs can go even more minimal than what they have, possibly lighten the mesh even further and add some bolder colors. If all that was said and done then I believe the design would compete extremely well with other top brands. The second downside is that the shoe can become a little hot in warmer weather. It's definitely manageable and comfortable in 70 degree, 80 degree and low 90 degree weather, but once the temperature sores above 95 these shoes can get a little hot. Anyway, besides that, it's a very, very solid shoe. If the next iteration is anything like this. I'm sold.

I have nothing to compare it to because I just keep getting updates of this Asics model-- I run 4.5 miles 4 times a week not a serious runner but these do it for me no complaints whatsoever.

Amazing shoes. Light, stable, and just right for my slightly wide foot shape. I have done a few 6 mile runs in them and have no complaints.

My teenage son needs a wide shoe so we normally buy New Balance as their regular width is wider than most other shoes and fit him perfectly. However, this time I needed to find a size 13.5 shoe, which many companies do not make. I found these Asics sneakers and was delighted to see they came in a size 13.5 wide. I have never purchased any brand other than New Balance for my son so, despite the size 13.5 option, I was not sure they would be wide enough for him. Well, they fit great! My son loves them. He says they fit great and are very comfortable. So, despite always buying New Balance brand sneakers for him, I will now also check Asics-wide to see their line of sneakers for my son too. I would definitely recommend these shoes based on how comfortable my son says they are and how well they fit him.

I've had 2 pairs of the 2160's and can safely say the GT-2170 is a step up. The entire shoe fits a little snugger and also has a bit more cushion. I wear these for 25+ miles of running a week, and expect them to last me 3-4 months. So far I've had them for just over a month and they are holding up great. The color of these is intense, and for me that gets my feet moving. I don't think you can go wrong for a little pronation correction and light but durable trail/road shoe. I wear these both on cross country and fire road trail runs as well as asphalt bike trail runs.

Asics are my favorite running shoe. The GT 2100 series are the ones I always go back to. So I bought my husband a pair. He loves them, too! Plus, Zappos always delivers in a timely manner...I ordered them on a Tuesday and got them on Friday, in time for Father's Day that Sunday.

I have a large but very narrow foot - extremely hard to fit. This shoe fits perfectly and is comfortable. Free shipping and two day delivery was amazing!

This is my second pair of ASICS GT-2170 and it's been a great running shoe. Very comfortable and great for pronated feet. Overall the shoe was fairly durable however it did seem to wear out on the interior of the shoe (around the heal) long before the exterior showed any signs of wear.

I like the color and price. Overall it is a good shoe to have. Initially, I thought the sole was a little thick, but I guess it is comparable with other Asics shoes that I have. No regrets buying these shoes.

Great shoes with excellent all round support. I wear these almost every day and enjoy walking in them. My only disappointment is that the upper mesh has already torn where the big toe meets the mesh in less than six months. The mesh should have lasted longer for a high performance running and walking shoe.

I have been wearing the ASICS GT series for years and these shoes have been always been good performers. I recommend highly if you are looking for a good stability shoe.

I have been a Zappos.com customer for appx. 6 years. I appreciate being able to order the same shoe/the next upgrade w/o having to go to a store to try to find another pair that works.

I have tried a few pairs of Asics in a 2E that never seemed to fit right. I ordered these shoes in a 4E and was excited to get them but they seemed a bit too narrow still. The heel seemed too low as well making my foot slip out even though the show size was right.

As a heavy, yet enthusiastic runner, I find this shoe very comfortable and provides excellent support. The toe slaps a little, but otherwise a good fit with good arch support.

I like my new GT-2170. The fit is just like the 2160s, the cushioning is better and the shoes are lighter. The laces are too bright but I can live with that.

I've been a long time wearer of the Asics Kayano line, although a few years ago I had a pair of GT2130's that I liked. My previous experience with the GT2130's swayed my decision to replace my worn out Kayano 16's and try out the GT2170's. As of this review I have run about 20 miles in these shoes. I have average arches, moderately wide feet and wear a 10EE. I've found that the GT2170's have a more narrow fit than comparably sized Kayanos. In fact, the overall profile of this shoe is narrow and long, even in the 10EE size. I've found that I have a difficult time getting my heel locked down into the shoe so it doesn't slip, although there is generous memory foam padding around the ankle & heel. Running in the 2170's is a fairly plush ride, with more cushioning than support & stability. The overall design of the shoe would best fit someone with a narrower foot, and because of this I'll be switching back to Kayanos once these GT2170's are worn out.

Last owned 2150's and felt they were great shoes. Bought 2 pairs of 2170's and regret it - they narrowed the toe box, changed the toe gel position and put a support strap over the little toe. I can't wear these for long runs now. Changed to Brooks GTS.

I currently wear the Gel Nimbus 12 and absolutely love the show. Thought I would try to branch out and ordered the GT 2170. Appears much more sturdy than the Gel 12s and a bit more clunky. Perhaps not a bad thing, but for me the Gel 12s really is a lightweight shoe that is comfortable and flexible. Just a joy to wear. This is perhaps a cross-trainer show where as I wear the Gel 12s to play a bit of BB, lift and do other low impact cardio.
