I ordered three rain shells: North Face Resolve, Patagonia Torrentshell, and Marmot PreCip; all in size medium. I m 5 4 , 132 lbs, hourglass shape with curvy hips. I kept the Marmot PreCip and returned the other two. I liked it best for the fit, because the hood tucks inside the collar, and for the neck fit. The Marmot and Patagonia were both roomy enough for me to wear another light later underneath. The North Face was a little more snug around my hips, and slightly shorter than the other two. The North Face hood also tucks inside the collar. The Patagonia hood does not tuck, but can roll and fasten inside; however, this means the back of your neck will get wet if the hood is wet when you roll it. The neck of the Patagonia came up pretty high in front when zipped all the way up, and was a little stiff. The Patagonia was the only one of the three that did not have Velcro fastening overtop of the zipper; it has the most pared down design, seems like it is the most technical/lightweight of the three. The North Face had a full mesh lining with a plush neck lining, which was nice, as was the look of the contrasting color; the other two were not lined. North Face had elastic bands at the wrists; the other two had adjustable Velcro closures. The Patagonia had the best hood design, with adjustable drawstrings across the back and around the face, and a separate piece above the brow that would keep the brim sitting forward. However, this also means that hearing is most impaired with this hood; since I will wear this shell at music festivals this is a consideration for me. The Marmot ended up being the best choice for me and I appreciate that Zappos makes it easy to order several to compare and make a choice.

I love this jacket. Perfect fit. Light weight. Great color and style. Kept me completely dry in an extended downpour and dried out very quickly.

Overall I love it, very warm, good quality, but runs a little small. I would recommend ordering a size up if you plan on layering at all.

This jacket is very narrow in the waist - normally a medium I had to order a large to be able to zip it. The Butterfly Blue is a purplish blue. Very nice jacket.

My 1st Patagonia purchase and I'm sold on this brand! I ordered another popular brand rain jacket to compare to this jacket and there simply was no comparison! I have since returned the other jacket and this will be my go to. I bought the Tobago color and it's gorgeous. I also sized up so I could layer underneath and it's not sloppy looking at all. The length is perfect! I can't stand to raise my arms and have my coats/jackets ride up. This one has wonderful coverage ~ another reason I kept it (the other one rode up almost above my belly button). I also like how it literally hugs my face once the hat is adjusted. No rain is getting in! Great job Patagonia - I love it and it's money well spent, in my opinion.

The lining of this jacket is white, which detracts appearance of the jacket, at least on a person with very fair skin who benefits from the pop of color the cobalt jacket provides. In any case, the lining looks like it's made of plastic. I'm returning it, which is too bad, because the length is good, the fit is good, and the cobalt color is great.

Pros: more flattering that other raincoats, cute, pit zips, nice color selection. Cons: when all Tucked in you can't hear anything inside the hood and ultimately does
Not keep you dry. Very disappointing if you are in anything other than a light drizzle. Was hoping this would be the perfect rim jacket for life in th tropics but it falls short. Too late to return but will go back to the rei brand one that lasted years and was actually waterproof.

I used to own this in a lovely stone grey color, but haven't seen it since. Sadly I left my other jacket behind and when I went back for it, it was nowhere to be found. I never wanted to shell out the money for another, but I finally bought one this past May. I love it. It's lightweight, small, and really flattering in the fit (nips right at the waist)! I highly recommend this, but wish it had an inside pocket (or chest pocket).

Love this rain jacket! Keeps me totally dry. Fits nicely--long enough and slightly shaped through the waist so it's not so boxy. I have had North Face and Marmot rain jackets and this is my favorite. Great purchase!

I love this jacket! My husband has it in gray, and I have it in this lovely plum color. It is super easy to pack, and the perfect piece to take on trips where you're not sure what the weather will do. Waterproof, windproof, yet light enough to wear anytime. Great job, Patagonia. I went with a medium to have room for layers, although I usually am a small in Patagonia.

Purchased this jacket for myself, daughter, and daughter-in-law. We all love it! True sizing and perfect to layer over a down jacket for colder wet weather. The ample hoodie will keep neck, face, and hair totally dry. Left the house with this jacket on in an all day heavy rain storm and skipped the umbrella for the last couple of errands. Velcro cuffs are great! Packs into absolutely nothing for travel. Love this jacket!!

Just used my new jacket while doing some rainy birding in Panama, and it Performed perfectly. I like the length for keeping my waist pack and binos dry. Like the light weight for warm weather and also for layering in cooler.
I'd also recommend:

This is my third Patagonia rain jacket. Love that they last for many years. It's really easy to roll up into the hood and then stick in a bag for when you need it. Very light as well. Great color.

This is the first time I've purchased a Patagonia jacket and I love it! I haven't had the chance to give it the rain test yet. The color is bright, but not obnoxious. I love the wrist adjustments in Velcro as my wrists are very small. It keeps drafts out. This jacket fits well enough that I don't look like I have a box on. It's a keeper!

Patagonia always makes great gear. I especially like that, unlike my previous North Face rain jacket, I can stuff this one in a bag but without it looking wrinkled. I purchased the blue version (mostly because it was the only color on sale) thinking it was going to be an obnoxious electric blue, but was pleasantly surprised to find a much nicer, almost teal color. The Zappos images definitely don't represent the color accurately, but I was glad.

Great jacket! The fit and quality are excellent. Its perfect for rainy days or even a cool fall day. The curaçao color is so pretty in person. I am 5'5", 120 lbs and the small fits nicely.

Light weight for warmer weather with the additional comfort of having side zips. Hood can be adjusted so it does not fall over your face. It is slightly fitted so you don't look like a rubber duck.

This rain jacket runs very narrow through the hips - as do all of Patagonia's jackets this season it seems. Other than that issue, however, this jacket is wonderful. I like it much better than The North Face rain jacket because the Patagonia version does not have velcro along the zipper. The velcro on The North Face version was constantly snagging my clothing, so I'm glad to no longer have that issue.

I've now worn this through some serious rain, and it does a great job of keeping you dry. I walk my dog in all weather, so I needed something both waterproof and breathable, and this is the bomb. The fit through the torso is a little slimmer than you may be used to; it looks nicer but a thick sweater underneath will strain capacity.

If you're looking for a lightweight, packable raincoat, this will do it! I need something a bit longer and a tad more stylish, so will return. I'm 5'5' 125 lbs and a size Small was perfect.

This jacket is more flattering than I was expecting. It nips in beautifully at the waste and the length is perfect. It is super light weight, which is what I want for spring. I am 5'8 140# and got size medium. However, I did end up returning the jacket because I did not care for the color. I had ordered the white and just thought it looked a little dull and sheer (not as crisp and opaque as the pictures appear). I plan to re-order the jacket in a different color because I love the fit so much.

The blue color is really pretty, it is very lightweight, and it's styled nicely. But there were two problems. The shoulders puffed out in the back, as if leaving room for a shoulder pad, and it was loud - every time I moved it crunched! As far as size, the XS was okay but a little tight under the arms. (I'm 5'5", 112 lbs.) I would have exchanged it for a S but sadly, I sent it back.
