I tried two pair of these...I am generally an 8, I was swimming in them. Sent back for a 7.5...better but still MAJOR heel slippage...do I send back again and get a 7?? Disappointing, because I really wanted to love these. Listen to the reviews that say they are HUGE....they are....

One of the boots is too scuffed up on the toe. They are too expensive to look like that. I have two pair of Frye boots and these don't feel as good as the other two pair I have.

My least favorite pair of Frye boots and I have several. The tag on the inside irritates my leg and wreaks havoc on any tights/leggings I've worn with them. The footbed is hard. My heel still slips and gives me blisters when I wear them for a full day. If I wear a cushioned sock, they're okay in the heel but too tight in the toe box. So...I don't wear them that often. I wish I had returned this style when I could. Feel like I wasted a lot of money.

I agree with others that this boot runs small in size and narrow in width. I am true 8.5 in most every shoe I buy but this boot was tight and "hurt" my feet. It is a very nice looking boot and looks very well made but not made for my feet.

First - I love Frye boots. I own about 5 or 6 pairs and have worn Fryes since I was in high school - many years ago. These boots do not fit like normal fryes - the heels slip - a lot! I ordered black - but they are not black at all. They are more like an olive,brown/grey. I am supremely disappointed to say the least. They also run about a 1/2 size small.

I have a pair of the Melissa Frye boots in 7.5. I ordered these veronica short boots in 7.5 and they were way too tight, narrow, and stiff (in the foot). I noticed the Veronica shortie boots had better ratings, so I ordered a pair in size 8. While they fit well, I really didn't like the leather that was used on the shaft of the boot. It was very stiff and hard to walk in, like rain boots. The shortie boots also just didn't look as nice. The Veronica short boots are made of better leather, and are much more stylish. However, the instep is not quite as comfortable. I'm going to order the short boots in a size 8 and hopefully they will be more comfortable after I break them in.

I was so excited to finally find the exact boots that I had imagined in my head. Unfortunately, they were too tight across my foot while at the same time my heel was slipping so I have got to send them back and try another brand. Also, they are not as flexible as I would have liked - they definitely felt like they would need to be broken in. For the price I thought they were going to be the perfect boots. But as they say, money cannot buy love.

So sad these didnt work out. I have wanted them for years and finally bought them. They are certainly narrow. I dont have a overly wide foot at all but these seem like they are made for a pretty petite foot. Even with sizing up theres no way these will be comforable. Some of the distressing was a bit overzealous also, there was an actual gouge in the leather around the toe and then just a wide scratch down one side. Not an even roughing up. I understand they are to look old but these looked like defects not 'distressing'. The shaft leather is more like a glove leather, not very thick. Im not sure if the cost of these is really worth the end product.

I got these in grey, and they're beautiful - the leather is soft, and they've aged well with wear. Unfortunately, they're hideously uncomfortable if you're going to be walking even a little. If I walk to class wearing these (roughly half a mile each way) I come home with the backs of my ankles bloody from chafing, even if I'm wearing thick socks! I can manage short distances in them, but that's about it. For the price of these boots, I would have hoped there wouldn't be such a huge issue.

I've been eyeing Engineer Boots for some time now and decided to pull the trigger on the Frye Veronica Short in the Dark Brown Vintage Pebbled. The leather was a nice color and the pebbled finish was spot-on for me. Then there's the fit...my past experience was that Frye's were too narrow. I don't have a particulary wide foot, but it's wide enough. After a little pulling, I got into the boots. They were a bit snug by not as narrow as I'd feared they'd be - they'd definitely stretch nicely with a little break-in period. The problem in these is the heel. Where the front of the foot was snug, the heel was way too loose. Even with thick socks on, this was going to be a blister factory. Sadly, these beautiful boots went back in exchange for the Frye Engineer 8R which I couldn't even get my foot into. And I didn't think the quality was as nice on the 8R.

Way too narrow and the heel slips!! I have normal width feet and wear a 7.5-8. I ordered these in a 7.5 and they were really tight around the arch and toes of my feet. Also my heels slipped. I'm so disappointed because they are very cute and functional.

I usually wear an 8.5 or 9. I have a pair of frye boots in a 9 that fit like a glove. These were soooo tight, both too short for my toes and extremely snug through the top of my foot.

The boots are beautiful, very well made bu they run narrow. Too constrictive in the toe box and the leather of course if stiff initially so there's no give. I didn't want to suffer thru the process of widening them, so sadly returning them.

Disappointed. The heels slips when I wear them...I should have bought a half size smaller. The leather is nice and soft however they didn’t look distress like in the photos.

I own 6 pairs of Frye boots and shoes and have been happy with all of them. This one doesn't feel like a Frye at all. The leather is too soft to keep its shape at top and the bottom is not just narrow and small, there is no support. I ordered half size up and with my wo socks, my feet felt constricted in all directions. I took my socks off for some relief and felt the cheap 'no' support bottom. It was very disappointing. When I walk in them, the heel comes off as the sole of these boots are cut from plastic or something rather flimsy. Most like will keep them as I bought them on sale but what a bad cheap move for Frye to do this to their most popular boots.

I have a pair of Veronica is distressed black and they are dynamite. These are beyond slouchy in the shaft. They are like a bad pair of socks that fall down and gather around your ankle. Probably because they are suede? Not sure but getting returned. Sole of boot is great.

I would say these run small. i'm usually 7.5-8 and the 8 was tight at my toes. they r a weird fit because my heel slips out every time i tried to walk in them. most disappointing is they are not structured like they seem in the picture, and have more of a slouchy look to them. on that note they are being sent back.

Look for the boots that are specifically made in the USA. The quality and fit are so different then these and the others that are made in Portugal and other places. I think it’s the Engineer models. I read another review that said it but I did t really believe it until I started trying them all on. The Frye Engineer 8R is amazing.

I wanted to like these boots but was so disappointed when I received them. I normally wear a size 8 and purchased the 8 and 8.5. The 8 was so tight and uncomfortable and the 8.5 pair was only slightly better. The boots were so stiff and hurt my feet out of the box. I read in several reviews that once they break in, they're great. However, I couldn't imagine wearing these for more than 10 minutes. My heel also slid very easily. The boot quality seemed good, but again, as others have stated, I'm not sure they are worth the high price tag. I am returning mine.

I'm a true size 10 and bought a 10. The fit is a tight on the with. I deff need to stretch . Size was fine but when I step the boot slips off my heel making it rub all day and hurt. They are not big. There is no way I could size down. I want to like really really love these. They style I freaking love! Am I gonna keep them, of course I've already worn them to try and break in. But for the price they should be a little more comfortable I feel. Prob won't buy another pair for fear of being uncomfortable.

I returned my first pair after a couple of months when I experienced foot pain then realized both soles cracked all the way through. Hoping it was a fluke, I exchanged them for a new pair. However, the soles have also cracked on my second pair in the same place. This happens along the joint in the center on the boot. I am very disappointed with the quality of the soles on such an expensive boot.

Love the fit and style but the slick rubber fake lug sole is too slippery to stand up to snow and ice in Boston. Very disappointing compared to the original lug sole Frye boots I had back in the late 1980s.
And the shearling has worn away to the leather around the ankles in just one season.
