I’m having difficulty finding a good quality house slipper with excellent arch support & really held out high hopes for the Veitsch. Unfortunately, the 2 Giesswein styles that I tried did not fit me (Amerin Classic & the Veitsch) - both slipped off the back of my foot. I normally wear a size 9 in regular shoes, so initially ordered the Amerin Classic in size 40 (for 9-9.5 US) according to the Giesswein site), but they were too big & slipped off. I then ordered the Veitsch in size 90 (for 8-8.5 US), but it also slipped off the back of my heal. Plus, they both pressed too firmly across the top of my foot & weren’t very comfortable. I thought I was going to return the Powerstep house slippers because the sole isn’t as skid-resistant on slipper wood floors, but have decided to keep the Powerstep instead. Farewell, Giesswein - I really hoped this was going to be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.... :(

If you need lots of support for slippers then these are for yo., I didn't like them, the inserts were very strudy and then the top was a little too snug like it was knitted? But loved the Blue color, very fun!

I’m giving up on these European slippers. First, I tried the Mephisto Thea, and now this pair. In both cases, a number of people said the shoes run short, and if you want to wear them with socks to get a size larger. In both cases, the 42 size shoe was too long and too wide. I’ve worn Dansko and Riekers for years, and never had a problem with size or comfort. I wear a size 10 medium in American shoes. Alas...

The color blue is lovely and for that alone I wish I could keep them. The wool upper is nice and soft too and feels like it would last for years. It's the sole and footbed that are too hard for my taste. The Veitsch feels more like a shoe than a slipper and that's what I'm after so these are going back.

I received these for Christmas but had to return them. I bought my usual size and they were too big. The arch was in a strange place and was very uncomfortable. If I slid my foot forward as far as I could they felt great. I think one size down would be OK but I decided t look for something else instead.

They are pretty but too narrow,

I wanted to love these slippers so bad! Unfortunately, they need to go back. The arches were way too high for my flat feet. The slipper itself is beautifully made and looks great. The wool is soft and cozy warm. The sole is nice and thick and more like a shoe. You could definitely wear this outside of the house. I wish I could keep them.

I wear a WW or EE width; usually, European sizes are fine. This shoe, sadly, wasn't quite wide enough, or quite long enough in my usual size. I wanted it to work, but it did not, for me. Those with slightly narrower feet should be fine. It seems well made, with good support, and attractive.

I wear a women’s 12/12.5M (men’s 11) so ordered both a 45 and 46 based on the other reviews. The 46 was too long and the 45 length was good. The toe box area is not very tall so I could feel pressure on the top of my big toe but this may have gotten better as it stretched. The issue that bothered me more was the rubbing of the back lip of the shoe on the bottom of my heel every time I took a step. I’ve worn other clog style shoes with the low lip in back that never rubbed so I’m not sure why this one did since it was definitely long enough. It’s a nice slipper and I’m disappointed it didn’t work for my particular feet.

Very nice looking slipper, but not comfortable at all. Felt tight and too short even after ordering a larger size than normal. Arch support felt like a rock under my foot. Must return these and hope to find something that is more comfortable. I want support in a slipper, but prefer comfort, not a solid hard lump of an insole.

Very 'sloppy' fit for my foot. I consider myself a regular 7.5.....

I really like these. Have been having foot problems and they were very comfortable. As a suggestion, I ordered a 41 instead of my size, a 40 as it said they run small. Fit was great but it got cool and I get cold feet and was wearing them with socks. They stretched, so now they are loose when I don’t wear socks ??

This was one of those cases when I really needed a half size. I wear an 8 or 8.5 mostly. (ordered a 39). The 39 works out great with Birkenstocks. These just fit, but I could tell my heel was going to keep hitting the low rise back and I suspected it would curl up and I'd be stepping on it over time.. I am pretty sure the 40 was going to be too big. The support of the insole was decent, but it had a rubbery feel and and feet did not slip in and out easily with or without socks. Kinda defeats the purpose of a slide in shoe. And I know they are slippers, but I wanted a supportive feeling in the insoles and on the tops. The top part of the shoe had a lot of room and it felt like my foot moved around a lot. I suspected the weave style would only loosen more over time. I wanted to like these. The reviews were much better then other boiled wool mules. Sorry it did not work. Also, they sent me the wrong color.

Giessein makes exceptional slippers, however their sizing is beyond off. Shopping for a supportive slipper for my mom who is a women's 10 D (so, wide foot). Based on reviews, I knew to order these a full size up, so got the 42 (men's 9; women's 11), and she felt it was still a hair short (her heel couldn't quiet clear the back edge) and definitely too tight over her forefoot. Might be fair that a standard width is too tight for a wide foot, but for these to be sized over a full size too small in length seems unreasonable. The cork footbed was the best support of all the other slippers we tried, and we wished it was an option in the others. She went with the Giesswein Flora in a size 41 which fit her perfectly.

Nice slipper. The problem is the arch support is too far forward in the shoe to actually support my arch. Back they go!

I have a mixed reaction to my pair of Giesswein Veitsch slippers. I like the look of them. Aside from the issues (which I'll mention) the quality seems solid. Having ordered shoes manufactured in Europe before I ordered a size larger. These still felt too small; my heel hangs over the back lip, which is intentionally low profile, so the slipper never feels as though it's fully on. I waited to see if breaking in would improve the fit; it somewhat did. The other problem I have is with the arch support. It's an insert and after a few weeks of occasional wearing, the insert in the right slipper would start inching out the back of the slipper as I walked. It appears the only reason the left slipper hasn't done this is that the back lip (which as mentioned, I tend to be standing on) has folded over in such a way that for now it holds the insert inside. I'll probably fix this with some adhesive or possibly a piece of hook & loop fastener in the heel of each slipper. For the asking price I'd expect this to have been incorporated into the design. It's possible the insert slippage is a consequence of the slipper running on the small size.

The arch support felt more like a speed bump. They are very uncomfortable. I am sad to have to return them, but they are very cute and I love the wool uppers.

I loved these slippers for the first 4 months or so, but as other reviewers have commented, they eventually stretched so much that they are on the verge of being dangerous to wear. I think I’m going to have to toss them, after only 6 months. A big bummer after paying a premium for what I thought was a high quality slipper.

I had high hopes that these slippers had good arch support but it was not sufficient. The length was also short. Liked the style but did not meet my needs otherwise.

I own two pairs of Giesswein Veitsch house clogs. Both pairs are size 40. The removable “Ultra Comfort” footbeds are also both size 40. They are a good fit for me. So, I ordered size 40 Veitsch with size 40 “Ultra Comfort” footbeds as shown on Zappos website. When they arrived, I tried them on and realized that, although they were stamped as size 40, they were more than one size too small. So, I think that sizing for the Veitsch is inconsistent, and I returned them without even trying to order a different size.

Humorously small. Very narrow. Instep so small that foot doesn't even fit. Really disapointed.

I bought size 38, my usual size in European sizing. I have a high arch so I need a good footbed. The slippers had good support to begin with but within a few months, they stretched out, and the foot bed seemed to flatten and become less supportive. Even with thick wool hiking socks, still they are slopping around on my foot. Really disappointing given the price of these slippers.

Had these since October 2019 and the wool has stretched out so much that shoes are uncomfortable to wear. Was hoping to get 3-4 years out of wool house shoes. Would not it this brand again. Very disappointed.

I wear orthotics and need a shoe with good support and/or that will allow me to use my own orthotics. I tried these Giesswein, which appear known for their support. Nice looking slipper. But the arch supports that it comes with are really hard and very uncomfortable to wear. I could remove them and use my own, but the slipper is wide and mine slide. I had to return them. Too bad.

Great looking and probably very comfortable, accept for the fact they are very narrow and the foot opening to put them on is tiny. Returning in the hopes there will be a wide pair some day.
