I've NEVER written feedback for any product and was compelled to here because they are just that good. Look great, feel great, wear great. If you pull the trigger on these, you won't be sorry.

Great boot--very hard to improve on this one. Will they feel like your favorite tassel loafers? No. But I don't think you can beat the comfort in another utility boot and still get one as rock-solid built and badass looking as this one. Imho, still the best lace-up utility out there.

Bought these boots in October 2014, so I have had them almost 2 years. They are worn nearly every day on construction sites and on weekends working on a farm - so they are not babied. Clean and wax them twice a year, as you would any boot worth spending money on. They have about 1/8" tread left on the sole at the ball of the foot but still are plenty grippy to walk up dirt piles and hills with wet grass no problem. Pros: Very comfortable after a week break in Stand up to heavy use Take care of them, they take care of you Cons: None really - I use them hard and would have destroyed an off-brand of boots (Timberland, etc.) in a quarter of the time these started showing issues. Issues: About a year in the right heel started 'hissing' when I walked in the wet - think I blew out the heel. Minor annoyance - just ignore it. After 2 years, the sole started separating from the right toe (that's the one that drags every time I kneel down. Some DAP contact cement solved that problem a month ago with no further issues. The stitching which joins the lace up part to the toe part is starting to let go. Again, its to be expected with as hard as I work these boots. The welt on both boots has swelled and hardened and is starting to work loose because of the wet. Not really much you can do to prevent that - waxing doesn't really cover the welt that great even if you glob it on. Fully acceptable amount of wear given the age and hard use of these boots. Whoever is in charge of installing the hooks must have a lazy eye because they are not even. No biggie, just seems like they should be placed properly on boots that cost what these do. If you're a weekend warrior or looking for a fashion boot (whatever that is), these boots will outlast you if you wax 'em and try to keep them dry. If you work for a living, these boots will as well. They are not insulated, but I actually move around for a living, so keeping warm isn't a problem. Great boots - I would buy them again but I am going to try the Red Wings next.

I'm a flatbedder. These boots work well for me. I need sure footing, protection, and toughness in a boot. I feel secure when up on my loads securing, climbing up and down, and walking on slick and uneven surfaces. I tried the slip-on version, but prefer the lace up for security. I've also bought the steel toe version, which is identical, and I've tried the version with the softer gum sole, which wore too fast and grew uneven. I'll resole those. These boots are a good value. You can be nimble and spry up on the truck, yet have good support. They fit me well and took no break in, I just started wearing them.

I bought these for my son who wanted a sturdy workboot. He liked them very much, saying they are very comfortable. He normally wears a size 14 but the size 13 fit him better so they probably do run a bit large.

To sum it up, what a great boot! I got this pair to use as my everyday kicks. They are comfortable once broken in, which does not take long. I have been a lineman for the past 25 years and always buy Chippewa . They stand up to all kinds of weather, just take care of them and put Sno Seal on every few months. My first pair of Chippewas lasted over 10 years. I had them resoled twice and yes I had to reglue the soles here and there through the years, but that is expected when you use them daily. Nothing is going to last forever. Do yourself a favor, stop shopping right now and buy these boots. When you get them, throw some Sno Seal on them, which darkens them up in a nice way, and start breaking them in. An awesome boot that is made in an awesome country.

I have been wearing these same boots for years now. I am diabetic and my feet feel most comfortable in these boots. I wear them with both dress pants and khakis. The craftsmanship is the best.

This is a well made boot. The leather is thick and the sole gives excellent traction. It does run large so I had to order 1/2 size down. Also, with the speed laces it is easy to put on and take off.

Better than Docs, cheaper than Red Wings, made in the USA. The boots I received had scuffs on the side and dirt on the bottom (from someone else wearing them, probably). They also were missing the American flag pendant, and were seemingly the wrong color (though the correct model of boot as verified by the markings on the tongue). More of a creamy brown than the waxy dark brown in the product photo. Zappos also charges $25 more than Amazon, which is the same company. Why? No idea. Contacted Zappos customer service and they basically told me "yes, we charge more" and "don't know / that's impossible" about the missing pendant, dirt and wrong color. No explanation, no apology, no offer to keep me a happy customer. Basically "we already have your money." Totally happy with the boots, but pretty "meh" about Zappos. Now I remember why I never order shoes from this place.
I'd also recommend:
Amazon has the same boot for less, and it ships from the same warehouse.

Best boots ever! I took the advice of earlier reviews and ordered them smaller than what I'd usually wear. I wear a 11.5 D in everything and ordered these in 10.5 EE and they fit perfectly. There was no break in time for me at all. Solid construction throughout the boot and with a heavy sock I can wear them all day without any discomforts at all. I'd absolutely order more from Chippewa and am deciding what pair(s) I want. They are absolutely expensive, but these are going to last me for years.

A 'zaftig' (meaning 'hunky' or generous) boot. A great general purpose boot. Perfect for rough back-yard projects or serious work details. Since the boot is not waterproof I treated it with a waxy (ie. not grease based) waterproofing called Sno-Seal. Kiwi also makes a similar product. I have used these boots in all kinds of weather and they're fine as long as it is not 'galoshes' weather or really very deep snow. The construction is direct and tough. The leather is beefy and flexible. The Vibram soles are durable as befits the boot generally. Even the laces are tough and waxed. The button hooks near the top make putting-on and taking-off very convenient. The fit is very generous. I usually wear a size 9 EE but ordered an 8 & 1/2, medium, and they are still fine for very heavy socks with sole insert. The only negative thing I can say is that they are a bit heavy, but I believe I shall enjoy these boots for a good long time.

I bought these because they are very sturdy, rugged, and look great with jeans. I use them as casual everyday shoes, work boots, camping, and short day hikes. Not a backpacking boot. I simply love the way they look and feel. Very classic style.

Excellent boot! Well worth the money. Leather is really meaty and protective in a work environment. Classic style. Really tough laces. The boot does run slightly large and slightly wide - I usually wear a size nine but I got a size 8&1/2 and the boot is still great for very heavy socks (which I prefer) The fact that it has eye hooks at the top makes removing and/or putting on the boots very easy and convenient. The Vibram sole is, like the rest of the boot, built to last. Since the boot is not perfectly waterproof, I treated them with a waxy (not oil based or greasy) commercial grade "waterproofer" called Sno-Seal and as a result I almost never bother with changing shoes for wet conditions unless it's really wading weather wet. In most snow conditions they are just fine. The overall construction is excellent. Even the supplied insert is good. I believe I will wear these boots for a good long time.

I have 11/.5 EE foot size and this boot works really well with heavy socks. I have added waterproofing to make sure they last. Very comfortable to wear.

Hello, First off, I have been looking for a good pair of work boots that I can use for heavy type of yard work and snow / slush in the winter. I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico, so winters are not harsh and summers get got. I am not looking for insulated boots given where I live. I typically wear a size 10 sneaker / flip-flops (Nike, etc.), and I wear a 43 for the European crowd for Eccos (casual and dress). When I found these, and I read the reviews, people said they fit large. Taking that into consideration, I also used the sizing chart and I came up with a size 9 using a seamstress tape. My feet measured at 10¼". With this, I knew I required a size 9. So to the width. I visited a local RW store a couple of days ago and tried their size 9 and 9½D which were insulated for cold weather, go figure here in Albuquerque and I felt that I had a boa constrictor on my feet. My feet have always been a tad on the wide side, but not overly so. I also want to make sure I can put on a thick pair of socks in the winter, too. I ended up ordering the 9EE. I just got them today. The length is correct and my toes do not hit the end of the boot, and overall they fit nicely! I feel a little wiggle room and I do not have them tied tightly, but that is usually the case with new shoes. I cannot fairly rate them yet given that I just received them. So ignore my star ratings.

Once you find the right size, these boots are fantastic! For some reason they run extremely large and somewhat narrow. I typically wear a 10.5 D in most leather boots/shoes, but I had to go down a full size and up in width for these to fit properly. After two exchanges, which Zappos made a breeze, I ended up with a 9.5 EE, and they fit great! Don't let the sizing issue scare you away from purchasing these boots. These are quality, rugged, stylish boots, not to mention they're hand-made in the USA! If taken care of, these boots will last years and only get better with time. I'd like to reiterate that Zappos was a pleasure to deal with through my sizing struggle. They made the exchange process super easy. Thanks for being awesome Zappos!

These industrial quality work boots were 100 percent of the advertised quality. The heavy duty instep welt is great for excessive wear times. I added a prescription instep without removing the insole providing good support with plenty of room. Lace grommets are secure stitching is well done and, yes they are waterproof. Looking forward to trying in harsh winter weather.

Ordered a 9 1/2 E and 9 1/2 D in these and the D width was perfect! Comes with insoles to soften the bottom where your foot lies, but I put a cheap pair of inserts from a department store. Went camping for a week in Yosemite and hiked daily WITHOUT SO MUCH AS A BLISTER! Did a minimum of 10 miles a day! So thrilled about this pair! I buy ONLY MADE IN AMERICA BOOTS, as I'm tired of cheap overseas boots that give poor wear and made cheaply not to last. I will purchase that which can be repaired. These boots are full cowhide yet soft and supple, rugged good wearing full Vibram soles! They take Huberd's boot oil easily, and then can be polished as well! My first pair of Chippewa boots and will consider others in their line for an honest simple boot that should give long service! I heartily recommend them!!! Arch support comes from the insole insert. THANK YOU ZAPPOS!!!!!!!!!!!!

These are awesome boots that meet my few required features - must be comfortable enough to wear all day, have a traction sole, and made in USA. I've had mostly Red Wing boots since I was a kid, but in the last 15 years or so I've been disappointed with their fit, comfort, or recently the people who work in their stores. This is my first pair of Chippewa, and they are terrific - they've broken in easily, are holding up nicely to daily wear while feeding/mucking horses, and I like how they look. I often end up buying EE width in boots, but the D width in these is enough room.

Very happy with this boot. The lug pattern is exactly what I needed for working outdoors. The size was exactly as indicated on the website. I really like the look and stiff sole. Only down side is the steel shank that sets off security as I have to enter a nuclear plant.

It's hard to find a good all around boot for the mixed outdoor work I do, these fit the bill PERFECT! They felt great out of the box, after a short break-in (no pinch or blisters) I prefer them to any sneaker or shoe I own! I am HARD on footwear, these only get better the more I wear them. It used to kill me to have to stand on concrete for any period of time, with the soles and support, I have not suffered-PERIOD. They keep out the wet, period! The only down side is the sole, it doesn't wear well, and a slightly more aggressive pattern would be great. Buy again? Absolutely! Suggestion to buyers-don't tighten the top firmly for a few days, makes break in real sweet.
