I have wide "Asian feet", so the medium width was a little too narrow for my feet. I didn't understand the comment about sizing down if you have wide feet. If anything, I would size up by a half. In the pictures, the new tumbled leather looks like regular leather to me. However, the new tumbled leather is supposed to be somewhat broken in (like jeans). I wanted a very sleek, polished leather, but the regular leather is not the super smooth kind. For that, try to find the Peter ankle boots (apparently discontinued but available with some online retailers with old stock or on eBay). There's also cloth piping along the side seams and top, which, imo, looks less refined, more low end. I've never seen that kind of piping on high end boots that are > less. Also, along the zipper and on top where the zipper rests at the top, the leather is cut and the leather isn't finished; I can see the raw edges. These are small details that show where they cut corners in the manufacturing, which I would expect for boots that cost less, not this cost. Despite that, the shaft is lower than most ankle boots, and the style is more minimalist than most, f which I prefer. According to the sticker on the sole of the boots, the exterior is leather, but the lining is synthetic leather and textile, it feels soft, so I get how some people may mistakenly think that the lining us leather. I wore out another pair of ankle boots because the inner lining was fake leather and got torn up. The sole is also synthetic, per the sticker. They are made in China. At this price, I would have appreciated a genuine leather interior lining. And clean, stitched leather rather than the naff piping around the edges.

Gorgeous - soft suede. Except that mine arrived already marked up and I had to return. Also the heel is kind of cheesy.

Pretty nice shoes. Good for summer, if you're not into what most women wear (flats, heels, etc). I myself needed summer shoes that allow me to use orthopedic inserts. These do, if I buy 1/2 size bigger than my actual foot size.

Love these boots! This is my second pair. Super comfortable and so cute.

These are so beautiful, such a great quality and value...they are narrow and run snug. I cannot wear these after trying two sizes. grateful for Zappo's terrific customer service and the ease of their return policies.

Cute shoes, but though I love Sam Edelman shoes I find their sizing to be arbitrary between styles. I usually wear a 7.5, went for an 8, and it was slipping off my heels as I walked. Didn't love the slippery sole either, but styling is cute and heel height nice and comfortable.

Fantastic! Great casual / semi dress up shoe. Comfortable and true to size . Usually a 7 and they were right on.

I love these boots and have gotten many compliments!! They are comfortable and feel true to size. No break in for me. One big downfall to me is they appear to be a stacked leather heel; they are not! I had them one week and went out, put my feet on the rail under my tall chair I was sitting on (like most of us do) and I noticed later when I got home that the outer "wrapping" if you, that makes the heel look like a stacked leather heel, started rubbing off. I was very upset and almost returned them. I touched them up a little with some oil I had. I am just going to be very mindful to not put my heels over chair railings or anything that that could make this "covering" come off! This would be an all around beautiful boot if they had just added a stacked leather heel. I thought for the price it would have been anyway? Maybe Zappos can pass this on to Sam Edelman ??

These are beautiful booties and appear to be well-made. Easy on and off with the side zipper. This was my first pair of Sam Edelmans and unfortunately I will be returning them. Even with thicker socks, my regular size felt 1/2 to a full size too large.

Great boots. They were a little loose (I have narrow feet) but I added an insert and they were fine. The thing I like best about Zappos is its great return policy. I have a hard time getting shoes to fit correctly and Zappos return policy allows me to buy a few different options to see what fits best. In the end they benefit because I buy, whereas with another company that charged shipping I wouldn't take chances.

Typically, a 5.5 runs a little big but a 5 is too small so I always expect shoes in a 5.5 to be a bit big. These are narrow in the toe box area, but wide in the heel. The left shoe is looser than the right so I had to wear a thicker, low cut sock on the left. I expected them to run big so I'm not disappointed. I can work with it because they are narrow in the toe area, plenty of room across the instep. Because they're more narrow, I'm not walking out of them. I wish the zipper was in the back because the zipper pulls tap each other when I walk. Annoying, but I just need to walk wider. No biggie. The putty suede is the perfect gray! Super stylish! Pinterest as pictures of these boots being worn all year with shorts & skirts. Too cute! One note, I cuffed my skinnies to go above the boot, and they still transferred some indigo dye onto the suede. Boo! Now, I have to figure out how to get that off. Overall, they're too stylish not to keep. The fit isn't anything a heel insert can't fix!

I have been on the hunt for the perfect black bootie for months and wasn't 100% satisfied with this pair. I decided to keep them, but I wish they were taller to fit (and keep) my skinny jeans tucked inside. Overall, they are pretty comfortable. i have bunions and they are slightly narrow, but that's a personal thing.

I always buy "comfort" shoes due to an injury and went out on a limb with these. They're great! I have one foot that's 7.5 and one foot that's 7 and a 7 worked all around.

Cute boot, bought saddle color looks great. Could use some cushion after a full day of work which involves walking back and forth, my feet were hurting.

Wonderful looking shoe! Very nice height -- just enough to wear with jeans or slacks. I wear these to work, and they are classy enough to work in an office environment, but comfortable at the same time. I like wearing these with a medium weight sock as opposed to a thick one or nylons. Gives a greater feel of stability and also protects my feet from getting sore if I am on my feet a lot through the day. The toe box is a little firm -- but I think with time that will be considerably more comfortable.

I have researched this shoe extensively, looking on fashion blogs, Pinterest, and the like-- I was worried about the boot looking too "long" and making my foot look big. I ordered my true size, and I wish I would've gone down half a size. I am a very "typical" 7 1/2... average sole width, average length toes, average heel width. A 7 1/2 in every other Sam Edelman shoe I've purchased, as well as majority of other brands (besides the expected half size down in Frye, etc.). The 7 1/2 looks enormous on my feet (comparable to a new born duck perhaps), and I wish I would've given the 7 a try instead. I needed them for an event, so I had to wear what I got-- so my dissatisfaction is my own fault. But I cannot believe people have reviewed this as "running small"! If you're on the edge of deciding between your true size and half a size down, go for the smaller size, unless your feet are wide (but I can certainly see the fabric stretching). I know I will be ordering a 7 in the putty color for spring when I will wear them with skirts. But for now, these black suede boots are only for skinny jeans tucked into thick wool socks. All that being said, I think they're a good value. I know that I will purchase them again!

I had these shoes bookmarked for quite some time. I finally took the plunge and purchased the black suede. I'm not someone who likes wearing heels because I find them very uncomfortable. However, sometimes a little height is nice. These booties hit that mark for me. The heel gives a little lift but they're still comfortable and easy to walk in. I always expect there to be some break in time with new shoes, regardless of heel height or style. I was pleasantly surprised with these. They felt great from the moment I put them on, and continue to be very comfortable. Also, I will say, as a woman with thicker ankles and calves, booties can be hit or miss. But these seem to be very flattering. These were on the pricier side for me, but I haven't regretted the purchase once! Highly recommend.

I love these booties, super comfortable to wear all day and look great at work or going out. I also wear Powerstep insoles and they fit in perfectly, the first few wears were a bit tight but now they've stretched perfectly. Only downside is the front is a bit slippery, I might get the gripper added there.

Very cute booties and comfortable. The suede might require some care as I feel it gets dirty easily. A standard 6 usually fits me well in turns of width, but these are definitely on the narrow side. Do size up if you want to wear slightly thicker socks in them.

A good, basic black leather boot. I would prefer a bit more v-shaped toe but overall the shoe is fine and will be worn at least once per week. As with most Clark shoes, the comfort level is good, especially with this lower heel height.

Keeper after all! I really wanted this boot so I gave it another chance. The 9.5 was too big so I exchanged it for a 9. This shoe is perfect for a wide foot. The color is a little off but I applied some leather conditioner and it now looks like a richer saddle color. I'm going to keep it because there is just nothing else out there like it for the price. The low heel, subtle western look and no cheap looking buckles! Classic, timeless style. Love it!

Really nice bootie, sleek and simple. The smooth leather fits much nicer than the suede version which runs a bit narrower. I got both and sent the suede back...hey with free returns you can too! I have a start of a bunion cannot stand anything tight and this fit perfectly right out of the box.

This is a very nice boot. Quality. Beautiful color. All was good until I put them on and ouch!...besides running a little narrow, there was an inside seam that hit my bunion. Sadly, I had to return them.

Got these a few weeks ago to sub in for my black ballet flats, since San Francisco is chilly and I need more protection from gross things on the street in the Tenderloin. I wear them with skinny pants and cropped slacks and feel like quite the SF cliche in my North Face vest (also a necessity for summers here). They're comfy and cute and easy. I like shoes that I can put on without bending over, and these qualify. Very happy. I always wear 7.5 and these fit true to size. I got the snakeskin ones and they are great. Formal irreverence - yet another SF trait!

This shoe is really super comfortable but I don't understand how it could look good with skinny jeans which is what I bought it for. The top is too wide and too low for the jeans to go over it and if you try to tuck them in it doesn't look right to me. I am returning. I'm not a fan of the brown bottom with black suede but I was going to take them to a shoe repair shop to dye the bottom black if I kept them. They can do that. If I didn't wear a size 4 and therefore have trouble finding shoes, I would pay more for something that was a more luxe bootie. This would be great for every day walking around if I liked the style better.
