I was looking for understated, more real looking cowboy boots versus a hyped up caricature of cowboy boots. These definitely fit the bill. I ordered Cognac size 7. Fits perfectly. They arrived looking exactly like the images. Definitely looks like it got pummeled with rocks and stones to get the aged, worn-in look. I would have preferred it to be a little less rustic aged but I guess that's the style. The leather is thick and good quality. Overall, these are very comfortable and well-made. I plan to wear them with miniskirts and shorts. I think they'll also pair well with skinny jeans. Zappos sent them to me quick! Got them in two days. Zappos rocks!

Just got these and I love them! They were a little hard to get on at first, so I used a shoe horn. Then, they felt a little tight, so I put on some knee-high nylons and they fit better. I think it will take a few days of wearing them to loosen them up a bit. They appear exactly as shown. Give yourself a few days to break them in around the house before you need to wear them all day. I have never spent so much money on a pair of boots in my life, but they are well worth it and appear to be very well constructed.

I felt that the boot was narrow in the width.I had to take them to the shoe shop and get them stretched.

I love these! They are very well made and can be worn with skinny jeans or skirts and dresses. So its a great investment for the whole year, not just for winter and Fall. This is my second pair of Frye's boots, and I don't think I ever want to go back to boots that aren't Frye's.

Love these. I bought them the Cognac color and they're perfect. I wanted an everyday cool boot to wear with skinny jeans and flares and these work perfectly. True to size and comfortable right out of the box. So happy with this purchase.

I've never, ever, spent this kind of money on a boot OR a pair of shoes, but they are worth it. I've worn them with skirts, dresses, and pants. They are comfortable and have good support. The only thing I wish the boot had is a zipper.

I love the look of the boot but they were very, very tight. The length was correct but the width was too tight and I have average width feet. With a regular sock on, I could not get my foot into the boot. I took my sock off and even bare the boot squeezed my foot. This boot is expensive and I can't justify being in pain while I try to break them in. Nope.

This is my 3rd pair of Frye boots and, Yay! I did not have to take these to the shoe repair shop to have them stretched! I enjoy this classic and extremely well made brand of boots but find that it takes me a while for them to break in naturally so I speed it up with a professional stretch. I do have pretty wide feet, though. Once that happens, they are amazing. The styles are timeless...worth the investment because you will wear them forever. I have discovered that the older I get, the less tolerant I am for uncomfortable and trendy boots. Love these!

I love these boots! They are exactly what I was looking for, a summer boot, comfortable, quirky, and fun.

I'm sorry to say this boot didn't work for me. For workmanship in materials I would give it 5 stars. For fit on a real woman's foot I had to give it a 3. It was about the most uncomfortable pair of boots I've tried on in a long time. I have a short wide foot and moderately high instep, measuring size 5 1/2 C or D. Euro size 35 is perfect in sandals for me, and I have worn Euro size 36 or US 6B in boots in other brands. These though are styled very narrow in the toe and elongated. I thought I might have found a more neutral rounded toe from the photos. The toe on this one in size 6B extended more than an inch beyond my toe tip but was painfully narrow and tight in the widest part of the toe box, more than I thought I could stretch or break in. The most disappointing thing was that I could hardly walk in it - the sole is very stiff and the heel is wide. My heel raised right out with each step while my toes were in pain. I wore a pair of Fryes for years and was so looking forward to another. Maybe I don't have the patience now to break them in - or treat my feet unkindly.

Very nice, although not as distressed as pictured; also mine look darker; I would've kept them if the leather was softer and if they looked like the photo. They also run smaller than the Carson; I am usually a 9.5 and these 10's fit well, and they do seem a bit narrow, fyi.

I wear a size 6 1/2 and ordered a 7 after reading all the reviews. The heel area is huge... my foot kept slipping out. The foot part fit perfect, but the heel did not work...am returning them...

Amazing! Everything about these boots is amazing. Some of the nicest, coolest shoes, ever! True to size and fit well. And Zappos sent this pair to me overnight, even though I didn't request or pay for fast shipping. 5 stars service and an amazing product.

I love these boots. I can honestly say this was money well spent. I'm in love with this boot & its versatility. I can't get enough of the vintage, distressed look. These boots are timeless and can be worn all year which makes them a great investment I think. I did give them a 4 on the comfort level, only because they did take a couple wears for me to break them in. I have a wide foot & the toe box was a little narrow for me. But I do have to say, once you go Frye, there's no other boot you'll want to buy. I just purchased the cutest distressed Frye Deborah shoulder bag. Cute ladies. So begins my love affair. Happy purchasing. Oh, I wear a 10-11, I brought an 11, I have a little room but it makes up for the narrowness.

Love, love, love these boots! I have other fry boots and these are my favorite; they are so well made and so comfortable. I definitely like the 'worn' look of them so if you're looking for something polished this might not be the best choice. However if you like a rugged look BUY THESE BOOTS!

Got these today (Zappos customer service is spectacular). The color is definitely a darker brown; the picture on the website is definitely not the same color as the boot I received but I do like the darker brown. I tested them while walking my dog a few blocks around the neighborhood and they are comfortable. The heel slips a bit but I think this is inevitable with this style boot. I see potential for discomfort around the ankles since the opening is so wide and it rubs against the skin. Need to wear longer socks that don't ride down. I bought my shoe size 6.5 and they fit well and are not tight (my feet are narrow though). And easy to put on and off. The distressed worn look is great and makes them stand out even more. I guess I'll have to get new socks to protect my ankles.

Great boot! I love the worn in look, it's just what I was looking for. I usually need a half size smaller in frye boots but these were more true to size, Maybe a bit narrow for some. Overall I love these boots! I wear mine with skinny jeans but they would look cute with shorts too.

These boots are beautiful. I love the black distressed leather look. I normally wear a size 7 1/2, ordered a 7 1/2 and they fit perfect.

This is a beautiful comfortable roper-style boot. I wear a 9.5 and have a widish foot. It is true to size though the toe box narrows a bit more than average. I still have room but barely. As has been mentioned, a break in period is necessary and the fit is snug enough that a pair of socks makes this boot too snug for the first few wears. I used knee-high nylons as recommended by a previous reviewer. The distressing I find attractive and not overdone -- just has the appearance of being worn and loved for awhile. I usually wear Ariats and I find these equally comfortable and perhaps a bit roomier over the arch where Ariat's can be snug there on me. This boot is expensive but it also looks it and I hope will last forever.

I love these boots. They run about half a size small. An 8½ in this style fits like an 8 in the Frye Paige Tall Riding Boot. It is summer here in the south but I love these so much that I am buying a whole new wardrobe to go with them so I can wear them to work every day. They look great with jeans (skinny and not) and with work slacks. Not great with really long skirts since they are short, the skirt fabric gets bunched up at the top of the boot. That is what the Paige is for. I am in my 40's so I am not likely to wear them with shorts or short skirts, but they would be cute that way, too.

After searching all Fall & Winter, and here we are almost Spring, I finally found a pair of casual boots I am going to keep! I tried the same styles in Freebird, Ariat, & Sorel, but these are the best. I think they fit true to size. I am a size 8.5, and the 8.5 fit perfect. They do run narrow but I have narrow feet and a high arch and they fit perfect with normal thickness socks. They will fit even better when they break in. In my opinion the Freebird's are too stiff (I wear 9's) and not as comfortable in the footbed. I think this style will be great year round. I got the antique brown color and it looks just like the picture. They do look very beat up which my husband made fun of, but that's the best part, they are already "worn in." I read a review that someone thought they were loud which i was afraid of, but I wore them on our wood and tile floor and they are not loud or clanky at all.

This is my first Frye purchase, and I had very high expectations! I bought these boots for an upcoming Europe trip. I normally wear an 8 1/2 or a 9, and I ordered these in a 9. The fit in the foot is definitely tight at first, but I'm slowly working them in as I wear them around the house. I like that they are loose around the ankle. Perfect for tucking jeans in! The true comfort test will be walking around France and Scotland later this year. The design and color are exactly as pictured. Overall, I am happy with my purchase.

I bought the dark brown boots, which are true to what is pictured. The boots are well made and I like the soft distressed leather and cushioning in the sole. They do seem a little narrow at the ankle and I wish there was a bit more room in the toe box, but overall, I'm happy with my first pair of Frye boots.
