I was surprised by the poor quality of the Paloma. The sole seemed fine--similar to the Pesca but with a slightly higher heel. The problem was the material used for the upper part of the shoe, which resembled thin cardboard covered with fabric. It is almost as if Alegria decided to use old shoe boxes to make their new shoes. They area around the back half curved inward and cut into the sides of my feet—not a good thing! I am not that familiar with Alegria but the Pesca that I own is made of soft leather. This Paloma is one of their best sellers, according to their marketing, so I can't help but wonder if they were good in the past and have seriously slipped in quality. Many of the positive reviews are from around 2012. I cannot imagine that anyone would want these shoes.

I wore them about 2 hours inside the house and the strap was severely rubbing the inside of my ankles. Did nothing for pronation problem which the left foot is worse. Would not recommend.

Smelly! I have numerous shoes from Algeria and am disappointed to have to return these shoes because of the horrible smell of them. They smell like horrible chemicals.

Great looking shoe but the toebox, while wide, is too low and my foot is squeezed from the top.

I am extremely upset. Just got home and opened up my package and my shoes are used and worn . extremely warn. There are even toe marks from previous owner and they are dirty inside along with Heel is worn. I would’ve given 0 stars but that wasn’t an option

After extensive internet research to find a pair of shoes that fit wide feet, high arches, and were comfortable, I was disappointed to find that I could barely even get these on my feet, especially since the reviews stated they were true to size. Returning them immediately.

Unhappy with this shoe, the right one insole failed and I developed a blister on my right heel where there was an edge. It was very uncomfortable and had to stop wearing them.

I don't understand all the 5 star reviews. They are very wide and have a nice cushy sole, but those were the only good things about this shoe. The leather is very stiff and the edges rubbed against my foot. I couldn't walk two steps without the edges of the strap cutting into my foot, even when I made the straps loose. These shoes are also super ugly, like clown shoes. They are huge and make your feet look huge. If they were as comfortable as I was led to believe by reading all these reviews, perhaps I could have lived with the way they looked. Glad they seem to work for so many other people, but these were not for me.

I loved these until they started to squeak after a couple of weeks of wearing them! It's not just embarrassing. I can't even wear them around the house without driving myself crazy with the squeaking.

I bought 2 pairs, after looking at the reviews. The shoes look cute online and I hope they'd be comfortable. I was very wrong, unfortunately. These are NOT well made. They have a reasonably comfortable sole but the upper part is very stiff and not shaped well. Though the shoe fits (length and width are correct), the upper part feels incredibly hard and cuts into my skin. I got painful blisters after wearing them to go out to dinner (no heavy duty walking). I am returning the unworn pair immediately. Also, even if they did not cut into my foot, these are cheaply made, they are not a good value for the price, IMO.

I really loved these shoes because they are comfortable and very cute. But I never wear them. I work in a church and they squeak so loudly that they can be heard whenever I move from place to place. I'd love to wear them on an upcoming trip but we plan to visit a museum and I've been embarrassed by the squeak in museums before. Until Alegria figures out how to eliminate that squeak it will be back to Danskos for me. And yes, I tried silicon spray. Didn't work at all.

These shoes suck. I bought these shoes for work. I stand and walk all day on concrete. These shoes look cool compared to most other work/kitchen shoes for sale but don't buy them. The sole is hard plastic. It jars the bones in my feet, legs, hips and back with every step. I would not have spent so much on work shoes if the other reviews hadn't been so excited about the level of comfort. I wore them for a month and threw them out. I couldn't return since as a cake decorator, all my work clothes end up with frosting on them. They were so awful I didn't even want to donate them.

I was very disappointed with them. I spent way too much just to be left with scars. I bought these because I stand all day on a hard floor for work and the first day I got them the strap left matching large blisters in under an hour of wearing them. All the other reviews seemed great and I was really excited to not have achy feet but I got something worse. Now I have very large scars on both my feet from them and basically wasted my money!

So let me explain my unusual ratings. I stand all day for work and need supportive shoes. These are amazingly comfortable. The style is fine, a nice mary jane with a button embellishment, albeit a bit chunky looking. I have two other styles of Alegria, the Ali and the Dayna. The problem with the Paloma, and the reason I had to return them was that they squeaked loudly. I facilitate trainings and move around a room as people work and the shoes were disruptive. I had a woman in one of my training's with the same shoes and she had the same problem. Even my superior mentioned how distracting and annoying the sound of my shoes were. I have had a pair of Dayna's for longer and they are not as noisy do I traded the Paloma for another pair of Dayna.

Fatal Flaw: The Strap. I have wide feet, high arches, and a high instep. I bought this in a W. This shoe would be perfect except the strap is too close to the heel and, no matter how tightly or loosely I adjust it, the edge that is closest to my ankle cuts painfully into the front of my ankle (and leaves marks). I'm so disappointed, because the support is great and it's a cute, casual mary jane. But it is unwearable for me.

These are seriously some of the ugliest shoes I have ever seen. While they might be comfortable (don't know, I didn't get that far), I felt like I was wearing Frankenstein's daughter's shoes. Seriously my 17 year old daughter laughed and refused to be seen with me if I wore these. While Dansko might not be the prettiest shoe either, I've never been publicly shamed while wearing them, so I guess I'll stick with my Dansko clogs. Alegria I want to try your shoes, please try to make some that aren't so fugly.

I bought two pairs of these (one matte black and one ruby patent leather) because I loved the style so much. They started out relatively comfortable, but they did not seem to break in to become as comfortable as you would expect with high-quality, leather shoes. They made an enormous amount of noise when walking (squishy/squeaky sound) which is embarrassing around the office. Worst of all, when it rained and the sidewalk was wet, my socks got wet; water seeps up through the bottom sole. Also, within a few months, the Velcro straps would not stay secured if they were not in just the right spot. In other words, be prepared to walk out of your shoes. These shoes are far too expensive to put up with the above referenced issues. I will not purchase them again.

Very comfortable, and torsionally stable shoe, which helped my falling arches. The style was a bit brighter than I imagined, but it works well with summer colors. That being said, I am returning this shoe due to a defect in construction. The backing that holds the side silver button came apart within minutes of me wearing it. It had not been securely implanted during the manufacturing process. Not sure I would want another of the same pair because of what I perceive to be a defect in the design. Had I not caught it in time, I would have lost the entire button.

These shoes were really great, so comfortable right out of the box. They felt like running shoes but looked stylish and I wore them to work almost every day. Then the sole cracked straight across the ball of my foot after less than 6 months. Major bummer. I won't be buying them again, they just don't last.

Don't buy the owl Paloma patent leather Mary Jane. The first day I wore them, the material wrinkled and the owl pattern started chipping off. Defective material!
