I have developed problems with my skin and sun exposure, and purchased this hat to shade my face and neck area for a late season trip to the beach. It arrived in the mail today, and it is absolutely beautiful! The quality far exceeds the price. I would caution anyone with thick hair, or a larger head that this "one size fits all" may be a little snug. As always, Zappos' service is excellent!

Quite probably the most perfect hat ever! Searched 1 year to find this hat after giving it to my mother-in-law for Xmas. Very sturdy, not floppy, and durable. You can even roll it up and pack it I think. Very comfortable & a steal at the price I got it for on here.

This hat is fantastic! I always have a wide-brimmed hat on while by the pool or beach to keep my face and chest out of the sun. My stand-by was loosing its shape. This hat has a perfect mix of adjustable movement and a firm outer rim.

THIS HAT! This is the hat I've been looking for for years. I've wanted a chic, wide-brimmed, stiff straw hat to wear with adorable sundresses and vintage 50's outfits and to the beach (not that I ever go to the beach anymore, but oh well). I've tried on dozens, maybe hundreds, of hats, as well as searched online, and everything was either too floppy, wouldn't stay on my head or was just rather unattractive. This hat is just perfect. It looks beautifully elegant... I can see why another reviewer said you could wear it to the Kentucky Derby, especially if you replace or cover the band with a long scarf and/or other adornment. But, it's perfectly practical for gardening or the pool. I was a little alarmed when I received my package and the brim was folded in a couple of places, and the shipping invoice had "floppy" as part of its description. I was concerned I had received the wrong hat... but no, this is definitely the right hat, and although the brim stays rather stiff and in its beautiful downwardly-sloping shape, it is apparently very flexible/shape-able as well, much to my pleasant surprise. I hesitated ordering this hat and was upset when it appeared to be discontinued... then, suddenly, three more were in stock. I see that now there is only one left in stock... please, San Diego Hat Company and Zappo's, PLEASE continue making this fabulous hat. Many other women need to experience the joy of the perfect wide-brimmed sun hat!!

A beautiful hat. I've compared many of the "floppies" and "sun hats" available on zappos, including quite a few from the San Diego hat company. This is without question one of the best. Elegant size. Substantial construction. Really made me feel chic.

This is a beautiful, well-made hat. I have a large head, so it was a little tight on me (though not terribly uncomfortable), but it fit my sister-in-law perfectly. Since it was a gift for her, that worked out well. :) She loves it, and with different embellishments, this hat could really go anywhere. Even to the Kentucky Derby. It's that flattering, classic, and well made. I might have to buy one for myself after writing this review!

I love this hat. AT 5'2 I was worried it would be too big/wide for me to wear. I also have thick curly hair and usually have fitting problems with sun hats staying on. This hat fits perfectly, the wide brim keeps its shape and shades my face and shoulders from the harsh Florida sun, which is very important to me after being diagnosed with Lupus. I am very happy with my purchase.

I had just come back from a cruise through the Panama Canal, and had a large hat somewhat like this one. My companion and I were stopped by people all the time, asking about the big brim hat, where did I get it, and did we know we were the talk of the ship because of the hat! I could have sold a 100 of those hats on that cruise ship if I had had them...everyone wanted to know where to buy it. When I saw this hat it reminded me of the one I had taken on my cruise. The new hat is more fabulous than the other one. You can roll the brim and unroll it, without having any bends left in the brim. I am going to have some silver rimmed holes place on the sides of the hat to pull different scarves through. The brim on the hat does not flop up and down, but on a cruise ship, the big winds can blow it off, and that's where the scarf holes come in handy. Adding the scarf holes made the hat more versatile and fun too. This is a gorgeous hat, well made, I love it. It is a bit big for my head, but I have a snappy way of fixing that problem, because most hats are too big for me. I am a size 2 petite, 62 year old woman - so don't worry about your age, it looks fabulous on everyone. I know this, because everyone who sees it, wants to try it on and they end up loving it and then they try to talk me into giving it to them LOLing. This hat is a conversation starter and a statement piece. If you love hats, and really need good protection from the sun, like me, this is the hat to get. You can also snap different flowers on the band to make it go with the colors of your clothes. What more can I say - this hat is classy, and you will have lots of fun wearing it. Be prepared to be asked a zillion times where you got your gorgeous hat.

Love this hat - covers like no other had I have ever had. I hope they never stop making it. I found it lightweight and easy to fold. Got a lot of compliments on it but it is big. So if you can't take a little teasing being over-zealous about skin care, this is not the hat for you.

This hat is stunning! It will not only protect you from the sun but you will look like a movie star while wearing it! I am taking it to Cabo San Lucas this week where the sun will be blazing and I feel very confident that I will be protected and look good! Thank you, Zappos!

That hat is exactly as pictured. It is a big, bold, heavy hat. It is just what I wanted. The tags on the hat say it is rated UPF 50+. That was not in the description. I was glad to see it on the hat when it arrived. Be aware that since the brim of the hat is very large to provide extreme sun coverage, the hat is heavier than any other I have ever worn. You will definitely have "hat hair." I would not consider it packable, but it does spring back to shape very well. It is excellent quality. The darker band can be removed, if you like. It looks like it could also be tightened or loosened to control the fit of the hat. It is what I need for walking, gardening and beach visits.

This hat is beautiful. No questions about it. However, I question the sizing information: it states the circumference is 23". My head measures 23" exactly, and this hat was extremely snug on me. So if you normally struggle with "one size fits all" hats, this one will be no different. For anyone who doesn't, definitely get the hat. Lovely. Mine will unfortunately be going back.
