I absolutely love these boots. I have always had a problem with boots fitting over my calfs, these fit perfectly with room to spare! If anyone is doubting if the boots fit the more athletic calf, they will! I also bought them in brown, and I cannot wait for fall!

This boot is a rarity - it's both high quality and actually fit around my wide calves! I had to return the first pair because they ran large, but now that I've got the smaller pair I'm set. Not the most feminine style, but they're definitely a classic style and I'll be wearing them for a long time to come.

My first pair of Frye boots, and I'm not disappointed! I always have trouble with boot shafts, but these work wonderfully for athletic calves. I haven't yet worn them for a considerable period of time (it's still summer!), so I can't attest to how they'll feel or hold up over time. Visually, they're gorgeous. The color is very rich and as pictured, and the slouchiness is exactly what I was looking for. I have tried them on with both leggings and skinny jeans, and am loving what I'm seeing so far. In terms of sizing, I usually wear an 8.5/9, but tend to go for 9 in boots because I have a wider foot. The extra half size was a good call for these. If you're like me, I think you'll appreciate the larger size. In conclusion, BUY THESE BOOTS!

Yes, these are true to size like most buyers rated but the toe box is stiff which made my feet hurt and impossible to wear thin socks. I went up a half size for comfort and now, whew, they feel really good (with light socks). These boots, although slouchy, also make my wide 16 inch calves look narrower. BTW, THANK YOU FRYE for making a wide calf boot. Us poor ladies stuck by birth with wide calves have too much trouble finding tall boots that fit (and look cool). I really love Frye and will always go to Zappos for the incredible service they provide.

They're Frye so obviously they are extremely well made but it's really the versatility and comfort of these boots that shine. Comfort: For starts, the leather on the calf is buttery soft, ultra comfortable and makes them a breeze to get on and off. This is really important to me since I have plenty of boots, (Hunters, other pairs of Frye even), that give me a serious workout every time I try to pull them off. Versatility: These boots tuck under or pull over jeans equally well. I've never had a pair I could say that about. Ordered 9.5 since I usually wear a 9 and like to have a little room for thicker socks with boots and this worked well. Would buy again in a heartbeat.

I absolutely love these boots! I am 5'2" and have 17½" calves (thanks to 12 years of playing soccer), and these boots fit with no problems. I am normally a size 8, but I went with an 8½ for the extra width in the calf, which worked out well for me. I can even tuck my skinny jeans into these boots. The quality of the boots is outstanding. The leather looks, smells, and feels great. These boots are definitely worth the investment!

I finally got my Frye's! Love the Veronica Slouch. They fit the second I put them on. Great color, timeless look. I wear them when I'm riding my Harley and also to work with a skirt, they work well for both! That's what I wanted, and that's what I got! Highly recommended.

These are very high quality boots. But they are just not my style. They fit my 17" with no problems. I was surprised to find thick, durable rubber soles. Thank you, Zappos, but they are going back.

1st - got my order a day earlier than expected! Zappos rocks! 2nd - these boots are amazing! Having worked for Frye back in the '70s I can truly appreciate the quality.

Wow! Just got my new boots. Holy cow, they are exactly what I was hoping for, I will have these boots for the rest of my life and will order more. Are you kidding me?! My calf size is 16.5,(probably closer to 17). Shoe and/or boot size is always an 8 (wide in most). I took a chance on the B size, because I needed a pair of boots for my motorcycle. Well Frye is the stuff. I put them on right out of the box, and I am so flippin' pleased with the feel of the boots. The leather is so soft. Definitely worth every penny. My calves are athletic and quite large, and I thought I would never find a pair of boots to fit, and be comfortable as well. All I can say is after looking for about 8 months, and buying and returning, I will only buy Frye, from now on. If they make a wide, that would be even better, but the medium will work as well, because the leather is so soft,and only with a few hours breaking in. Thank you Zappos for carrying this brand. Us wide calf gals really appreciate it...and I really love Zappos! Awesome company! The best customer service out of any company I've ever had to deal with. Waiting for my credit on the pair I returned, but with Zappos, I never worry, because their customers are always #1. You go Zappos!

Absolutely gorgeous, and the extra room in the calf is just enough to accomodate without being too big. I did have to return the first pair I bought, these are much more true to size than the Frye Campus boots I already have, which are a full size smaller than I normally wear.

Finally! I thought my search for boots would never end. I have very short, thick legs and very large calf muscles (about 17 inches even), so boots either don't fit over my calf or they look awful. Wide calf usually makes me look like I'm wearing waders. I first ordered the Veronica Slouch short for these reasons, but they cut me off right at the calf and looked really unflattering. I loved the boots though so I tried these as a last ditch effort. I got them over my calf with no problem at all, so if you are worried about the seemingly small 15 and 1/2 inches don't be -- the leather is very soft and flexible, so that helps a lot. They're not too tall on my short legs either. They are a tiny bit too slouchy around the ankles, as often happens with wide calf, but not enough to be a deal breaker (and the ankle strap helps). I also live in New England and need shoes I can wear all winter on ice, snow, cold, to the office, out at night, walking around, etc. These are very comfortable and seem to have good treads on the bottom. They are a little on the casual side, but fine for my purposes. I wear a size 9 in almost all shoes, and these feel just a tad on the large side, but I think going down a half size would be too small.

Loved them right away, look and feel was amazing and they did fit my wide calves. But I wear a 7.5 shoe and the right foot was way to tight and left was too big. Both heels slipped really bad to the point feeling like it would blister in 5 minutes. Sadly, very sadly, these must go back. For this price, they better fit like a glove.

Wish these boots were a little taller, because they would have worked great. The quality of the leather is good, and the style - with the buckles - added some pizzazz to the flat boot, riding boot look. However, I really need a 10 1/2 -so 11 was a little too sloppy for my foot. And they were more like mid-calf boots. Be aware that if you have long legs, these will come a good three to four inches short of your knee. Had to return them. Two things would really help all of us find boots online a little easier. One: if the boots are for people with wide calves- can we see a model with wide calves? Most of your models have skinny legs, so it's impossible to see how it will really look. And two: Frye - please make a size 10 1/2. Thanks!

I NEVER take the time to write reviews, but I am SO glad my search for a brown boot is OVER! In the past year, I have tried at least 12 different pairs of boots. (Thank you Zappos for your free return policy!) I was a little concerned that they were too wide in the calf when I first got them, but the regular width shaft of the Veronica Slouch made my legs feel like a sausage. I am 5'1" and 130 pounds, and these hit me less than 3" from my knee; the width of my calf at its fullest is 15 1/2. I can fit a pair of skinny jeans in these or wear thick knee high socks with them. I will say that they appear to require some breaking in (I got a few friction blisters from wearing them all day at school), but I'm willing to suffer a little since I finally found a pair of tall boots that fit my calves. BTW, I saw a pair advertised on another site that were cheaper, but Zappos is so good to me that I was willing to pay more.

After trying a couple pairs of Frye boots and finding they were tight in the calves I went for this pair. Very comfortable and nice leather. I wear an 8 and have a 15 1/2" calf, these are perfect and there's some room to spare.

Love the way these stylish boots fit my large calves! Sadly, the wider calf boots are so hard to find, especially in upscale real leather boots, but these fit the bill! I was wearing them tonight to a party and got so many compliments. They're comfortable and can be worn for hours.

I'm a solid size 10 in just about every shoe, and these fit me true to size (with thick socks, which is how I planned to wear them). They slipped a lot when I put them on, but I tightened the lower buckle and now they fit perfectly. I have pretty big calves, and these have plenty of room to spare. I could even fit some leg warmers in there if needed. They are comfortable for all day wear, if I don't have to do a lot of walking. I wore them once when I was out walking around all day, and my hips and lower back got pretty achy because there isn't any shock absorption. I'm pretty sure a pair of insoles will do the trick though.

I wanted to love these, but unfortunately the Veronicas do not work with my feet. I have the Frye Harness in a 9½ which fit perfectly, but neither a 9½ or 10 in the Black Veronicas fit right. I like the look of the shaft. The look is just a little looser and relaxed without really seeming like wide-calf boots. I would say that I have normal to wider calves. But the toe box was just way too narrow. Even in a larger size it felt like I was stuffing my toes into the boots, while the heels felt baggy and not supportive, like my heels were never firmly planted in the shoes and constantly lifting out of them when I walked. The leather was inconsistent between the two sizes I tried; one of the pairs felt dry and sort of crunchy while the other was softer and more supple. I wish these had worked out, but for the price I must keep searching for more comfortable black boots.

I LOVE THESE BOOTS! The slouchy look is SUPER ADORABLE. I usually have trouble finding boots because I have large calves (about 15in), but these boots even have some extra room and fit great, even over jeans or leggings. From some of the reviews, people said they felt tight in the foot, so I ordered a 10 (I usually wear a 9 1/2), thinking they would fit well with wool socks, but they're actually still a little big! Other than that I love them and recommend these boots to any ladies with calves that are a little bit bigger!

I love these boots! I finally caved and made the investment. They fit well over my "linebacker" legs! I will say that they tore through my heels and achilles. And yes, I wore socks. I am hoping with some heavy breaking-in will solve the issue.

Beautiful boot! Fit my 17-17.5" calves nicely, great leather, but I think that with larger calves the shaft height made my legs look even fatter. They hit like 2-3" below the knee. So, they're going back. But they are a beautiful boot.

After some trial and error, I really like these boots. They fit true to size. However, I don't have large calves and I still had to exchange the regulars for the wide calf version if I wanted to tuck ANYTHING into them. Although the measurements don't seem like they're that much wider, it actually made a big difference. The associates were helpful with the exchange process, but not really with advice or help on the product. I would have been as well off just sticking with my husband's answers of a shrug followed by, sure. If that's what you want to do, that sounds good. Anyway - I do love these boots. I love the way they fit and the look of them, but I still have trouble stomaching the price. This is the most expensive pair of shoes I own, by far, and I only own them because they were a gift. It could be because I'm practical, but I just don't understand how any pair of shoes is worth that much. The leather is really nice and they do seem like they'll last a long time, though, so hopefully that's the case.

I love my brown Veronica Slouch extended calf boots. I've had them for two years and wear them all the time with tights/skirts/dresses/skinny jeans/leggings...everything! So comfortable and cute. They were expensive, but well made and will last a lifetime. I only gave 4 stars for Overall because they are only 14 inches tall and I am 5'10" so the boots hit me mid-calf. Frye - please make a version of this exact boot with a taller shaft for us tall girls so it will reach our knees and add a few more colors.
