Ok ladies--I have wide calves and these worked great! I wanted not to like them because they are a little pricey--but they are worth it and now my search is over!

Very cool boot. They fit perfectly (calf 16in) and get better with each wear. Be prepared for the compliments. I am planning outfits around these boots! Zappos shipping is the best.

Fit perfectly! I got the wide-calf and I have about a 16 calf. You'll have no problem putting these on for calf size if you need the wider pairs.

This is the second pair of Frye boots I have bought, and by far my favorite. I love the style. I have wider athletic calves, and the wide calf fit perfectly with room to spare. The brown is a little darker than pictured, but still a very classic color. Also, look great with jeans over them, so you can wear both and get your full money's worth.

These boots are fabulous! I hesitated to spend this much but they are excellent quality, so that justified it for me. So far, I've worn them with tights and a dress and tucked into jeans with a big sweater. I need to go shopping now so I'll have more chances to wear these this fall and winter!

I am in love with these boots. I have been unhappy with 'wide' calf boots - they are either not really wide, or too wide. These fit beautifully, even with skinny jeans/leggings/tights. They are so comfy and I am buying them in brown, too. Worth every penny!

Totally in love with these boots. Today is my first day wearing them at the office and I've already gotten 4 compliments on them. At first I was a little hesitant to spend this much money on a pair of boots, but ultimately they are so well made/such high quality that I reasoned they will last forever if I take care of them properly. I'd rather buy one expensive, beautiful pair of boots that will last, than buy 3 less expensive, lower quality boots over the same amount of time. As for the style/fit, I'm usually between a 5 and 5.5; I opted for the 5.5 in these boots and they fit well. My heel comes up some when I'm walking on the right side, but I plan to get an insole or something to help with that. My calves are around 13.5 inches around and I got the wide calf and regular just to see which would be better. The regular boot fits but it's more snug with jeans on than the wide calf, so I'll be keeping the wide. Overall I'm super happy!

Love these boots! I'm so pleased! I have wide calves so I was worried they'd be hard to pull on (there's no zipper). Fortunately, they slipped on without any trouble. (The buckle at the top can be adjusted which helps a lot.) And they're very comfortable and stylish. Very good quality. I absolutely love them!

I have been looking for black leather boots with no zipper for about 3 years now. (Also ones that will fit my calves) I just got these today. (24 hours after I ordered them-thank you Zappos) I am in love with these boots. They are a little snug in the foot, but I am hoping they will loosen a bit after wearing them around the house like other reviewers said. I love these so much that I am tempted to buy the Veronica Shorties! Even though these boots are pricey, they are worth it!

This is my third pair of Frye boots. I had to size down 1/2 size in the past, this time the size is true to size. I have wide calves and they fit well and I was able to wear them over my skinny jeans. However, I am going to return them because the shaft doesn't come all the way up to my knee. I wish the shaft was another 2 inches longer. Other than that I loved the boots and the leather looks beautiful in both colors.

I think this is my first online review of anything, ever, so that should tell you how much I love these boots. They are amazing. I don't think I've ever been able to wear tall boots before because of my big calves, and I was so excited to see these on Zappos. They fit me perfectly. I ordered my regular size-- 8.5 and they are just a tad snug, so I'm hoping they stretch out a little as I've seen from other reviewers. My foot is fairly wide, and the width is perfect as well. I know they are expensive, but they're well worth the money. I can't wait until fall!

Yay! Wide calf Fryes! These are fabulous. Now I just hope they'll start making all of their styles in wide calf!

My boots just arrived. I tried them on right away. They fit great. My only complaint is that they are a little big in the ankle area. I ordered my normal size 7.5. To make them snugger I can wear thicker socks. They look fabulous with my skinny jeans. I can't wait to start wearing them.

This is a beautiful and comfortable boot. I sometimes have to go up a half size in boots because of my instep, but I ordered my normal size and they are just fine. They arrived quickly and Zappos provided great communication and service.

Boots felt very tight at first but after wearing them around the house for a couple of days, as other reviewers of Frye boots suggested, they stretched out and fit well now. Love the wide calf - it fits well and has an adjustable strap. The boots are quite slouchy, more than I expected, but as long as you adjust the strap at the top of the boot you can wear them straighter, my only complaint is that they look big around the ankle if you do that. Overall, boots look good and feel good.

Less than 24 hours from my order and when these showed up at my door. Zappos is the best and I never buy shoes from anywhere else. As for the boots, they are divine! The fit is wonderful and the wide shaft is a great fit for my athletic calves, great for jeans but still OK with tights or on their own. The top is slouchy, but stands up well, I was worried that they would be hard to get on without a zipper, but they aren't difficult at all. It was a bit tough to part with so much cash, but they are totally worth the money!

I've been searching forever for the perfect casual tall boot. I have pretty wide calves (15.5 inches at least) plus shorter legs (5'4"), so I have a hard time finding boots that fit my calves, without looking too ridiculous (especially around my skinny ankles) and that aren't too tall. These boots are perfect! The extended calf fits wonderfully without looking weird - they don't slouch too much around the ankle while still being tight at the calf, as most other boots do on me - and they fit easily over slim fit/skinny jeans. They also are a good height and don't come up all the way to my knees. Finally, they are very comfortable. I've worn them for extended periods of time, including walking around the mall, with no problems. I usually wear a 6.5-7. I got a 7 in these so I could wear thicker boot socks. I'm a big fan of Frye, and these boots did not disappoint. They are pricey but well worth it. I think these will last a long time!

For women with big or wide or athletic calves: These boots are all you would expect from Frye - beautiful leather and a great mix of fabulous and tough. My calves are exactly 17 and 1/4" where the top of these boots hit. They are a little tight, but not uncomfortable. So if you can afford the investment, and need a great casual boot to wear with jean skirts, go for it (I wouldn't try to pair these with skinny jeans unless your calves are 16 inches or less at the widest point).

I am so sad to have to return these. They are so beautiful. The calves fit nicely, but the shoe part is tight and hard. They were difficult to get on and off. I ordered a half-size larger (9) and they look huge and the toe is really too long.

The boots are beautiful in person. I have a 15 inch calf and I am able to tuck my jeans into them. I wore them to the city the second day I had them. Very comfortable except my heel rubbed and I got a blister. Going to try to wear them for less walking until they break in.

I usually wear a 9 and I have a 16.5 calf and the 8.5 fit like a glove and the calf was fine.

I'm bummed. This is a beautiful, superior quality boot and I was really hoping they'd work based on the great reviews. They had several problems for me. The first was that my foot was getting really stuck on the heel cap when trying to pull them on, and it took quite a lot of encouragement to pull the boot on the foot past the heel. Also, the shaft is slightly tight for my 15.5 inch calves, however I think they'd go on easier with a zipper. I could get past these two issues, perhaps, but the real deal breaker was that they felt excruciatingly tight and short in the foot. Needs more width. I'm wondering if a half size up would be better but there is none in that size available for me to try.

These boots are fabulous! I have large, athletic calves, (16 inches and some change) so finding a boot to fit can be a bit of a challenge. I have always drooled over these boots, but thought the price was too high and passed them up. After ordering less expensive boots and being disappointed in the fit and quality, my husband told me to spend the money and get what I really wanted! I usually wear a 9 1/2 to a 10 and ordered the 10. They are a little long in the toe, but I think the next size down would be too small due to the rounded toe in the boot. The leather is absolutely gorgeous. I can easily wear them with skinny jeans and leggings. I have worn them everyday since I've gotten them, and they are molding nicely to my foot. My husband thinks I look bad-ass in them, too! In fact, he offered to buy me another pair in black for my Christmas present! Nice! I will be wearing these boots for years to come!

I am revising my last review. This is still the perfect boot, I just decided to exchange it for the regular calf. Many reviewers suggested that these boots may stretch. As I wore them a little at home, I felt that they were already too loose. Anticipating the stretch, I decided to exchange for the same size (7.5) in the regular calf. The regular calves still fit fine over skinnies. The heel also fits better. It appears that the wide calf may be a little wider overall. I have athletic calves that measure about 14.5 inches around, however I also have a narrower foot, heel, and ankle. The regular calf is the better choice for me. Also, I am 5' 4", if this is helpful. The height of the shaft is perfect for me.

I'm returning these because I bought both the Veronica Shortie and the Veronica Slouch to see which one I liked best. I chose to keep the shortie, but these boots were also pretty fabulous. It was a tough call! I chose the shortie because it just felt better on and seemed more wearable. I was shocked to finally find a boot that actually fit my calves though! I wear a 9.5 and I think my calves are probably pushing 18 inches. These don't go all the way up to the widest part of my calf (because they slouch), but they fit easily over tights and I managed to get them on over skinny jeans. I really have nothing bad to say about them even though I'm returning them. :)
