This is a sleek coat. I really liked it, but it is definitely smaller than other similar North Face styles. I ordered four different jackets from Zappos to try on at home. All were The North Face and all were the same exact size. This one was significantly smaller than the others. Narrow in the shoulders, bust and hips. Too bad - it was the sleekest of them all. The others I tried on were Arctic Parka, Avenue and Tremaya. Avenue is a very similar style and seems to have a little more ease in the cut.

Beware if you have a chest! This coat is one of the North Face coats (like the East Village I think they are discontinuing) that does not follow the size chart. The cut is super slim so size up! However, this coat also has the pattern stitching that creates a strange arc up and over the chest that exacerbates the slim cut and just looked ridiculous on me and did nothing for my chest. The shiny fabric, the stitching, the slim cut...I looked like I was wearing an old-school jogbra. I'm a 36C and even the LG was oddly unflattering (and still tight with heavy sweater) across the chest. I also echo another reviewer's comments that the coat seemed "cheaply" made. I looked at a lot of coats and other coats in the $300 range feel more substantial and/or have more features. By the way, I went with the North Face East Village coat (couldn't find it online but turned up locally). I ended up choosing on style/ warmth/ lightweight and gave up a few features (hood, inner zip pocket, etc.) Good luck in your quest!

Despite the very nice features on this jacket - not bulky at all and great fit and warmth - the hood which is attached (didn't realize this) looks like a cheap shower cap. It's a very distracting feature for such a nice fashionable parka. So it is being returned.

I am so disappointed with this coat. First let me say the fit was wonderful. It was very form fitting and flattering compared to the other down coats out there (I am 5'6", 128 lbs, 32" bust, 25" waist, 36" hips and ordered a small). I really liked the longer arms as well. The problem is that this coat is not warm at all. Standing outside on a 32 degree day the wind went right through this coat. Although it is 700 fill down it is not lined, so every seam is open to the elements. When I held this coat up to the window the light comes pouring through every seam. The North Face should definitely know better! I'm hoping they get their act together and fix this coat for next winter!

I wanted to like this jacket but for me the arms were too long and the arm holes too tight. I had to return.

I was so excited to get this coat after reviewing coats for months. I got it yesterday, and I was quite amazed. I ordered a small, because I am normally an extra small, and based on reviews, it runs small. I am 105 pounds, 5'1". The coat is definitely too large. It is quite loose in the waist and chest. My reason for giving this coat a low rating is not the fit but the thickness of the coat, and the warmth. I am astounded that people found this coat warm. It is about ¼ to ½" thick. It is a very thin and light weight coat. For the weight, it is probably relatively warm. However, I want a puffy, comfortable, sleeping bag like experience I can sink into, and be toasty. I wore this coat outside for 10 minutes and I I could feel the cold seep in on the backs of my arms and my lower back. If you are always cold, this will not be the one for you. I guess the people reviewing this coat were exercising while wearing it or a little more naturally insulated than me. I was very disappointed and now I am sending it back.

Per other reviewers I sized up to a large instead of my usual medium. I found the large to fit well (I am size 8). This is a beautiful jacket, but I wore it outside today for the first time (it was 23F) and the back of my arms were freezing right away. I could feel the cold right through the arms above the elbows. I examined the coat and found that there was no down fill in the sleeves in that area - it had shifted to the front of the sleeves. Several other areas of the coat were fabric only as the down had shifted. That does not work out for me - this jacket is going back. Also, the sleeves are super tight and my arms hurt in the inner elbow area when I bent them.

I love, love, love this coat. It has a very feminine fit and it very flattering to the female shape. It is not bulky at all, quite thin. I read reviews before purchasing and bought a Large (while I owned a Med NF Transit jacket that fit great and a Large Metropolis coat was too big) and the fit was perfect. I am 5'3 150 lbs, I wear an 8/10. My shoulders are a little broad and I have D cup boobs so frequently I need to get large tops to accommodate. I have not had a chance to wear the coat, as I bought this out of season, but I can't wait to wear it! It looks great!
