Very durable, my dog likes them. As some reviews say the boots do slip around sometimes. My dogs paws are a bit smaller in the back than the front, but they don't slip that often. Sometimes it is because I don't get them tight enough. Boots can start to stink just like people shoes since dogs sweat through their paws. Maybe the socks will help? I have other basic winter boots for my dog but these are much more durable and breathable then those. My dog also has allergies and licks her feet a lot so her wearing shoes helps us both keep our sanity.

Read the sizing chart and you won't have any problems. A well-made shoe, water-resistant with Vibram soles. These shoes were for our 95lb. Golden...have your video cam rolling when you first put them on your dog-it's hilarious! 2 drawbacks: they tend to get twisted around on the paw when hiking, and if they run full-tilt, get used to hunting for them. Other than that, they are fine for hiking, hot pavement, and recovering from a paw wound. All in all, I'd recommend these for the 3 above uses.

I really wanted to like these boots, and stop having to use the disposable rubber booties to keep my dog's feet safe from salt and snow. Unfortunately, even though I tried a couple of sizes and bought doggie boot liner socks, they chafed little raw spots on his paws every time. I think the materials are just too stiff to accommodate a dog's natural paw movement. Too bad - they are well made and durable, but not usable.

These seem to be very well made, durable shoes but they looked really uncomfortable on my dog. Even though the sizing is correct the top of the shoe bunches a lot - I could tell it was really folding into her feet when she was standing. The upper material is pretty thick and unwieldy, too.

Yo - what happened to the size? Though as I type my big male Great Dane is wearing an XL Ruffwear pair I purchased a few years ago, this new XL pair which by the way came right away from trusty Zappos, is itty bitty and doesn't even fit my smaller (150 lb) girl Dane. They are marked XL as are our old ones but they won't even go past the toes of my girl. How disappointing! They have been very helpful in healing my boy's torn foot pad. The design is far from perfect. They turn around so the cloth is on the bottom at times, but still are the most protective and best boots I have been able to find. Temple Grandin, will you please design some good dog boots? I'm grateful for Zappos' return label I'll unfortunately be using. If only the product were as good as Zappos' service!

Despite measuring my dog's paws, the boots were way too large and didn't stay tight around his legs. I tried to tighten them without making him uncomfortable, but unfortunately the boots kept slipping down so I'm returning them.
