I have worn Arizonas for about 15 years. These are my new favorite Birks. Great new design. I bought a second pair after trying them on.

I have worn Birkenstock for years a house slippers because of my Plantar Fascia and my feet do not bother me. I purchased this Birki for my husband because he complained of tired feet he love them and wear them everywhere. A great shoe.

Very comfortable sandals, especially after a few days of break-in. As a guy, I like their masculine look. I'm using my Birkenstock Riva's exclusively for house wear and not as outside sandals. My place has wall to wall carpeting, with tile in kitchen and bathrooms. The sandals grip fine on carpet and dry tile, but I found out the hard way they're like wearing a pair of ice skates on wet or even slightly damp tile. Almost fell on my derriere the first time they encountered wet tile. The grip does not appear to be improving with time either. That's the only complaint I have about these otherwise nicely styled and comfortable sandals. Not a deal breaker, but I concentrate on moving slow and cautiously while walking on wet or damp non-carpeted surfaces. Outside...probably be great on sunny, dry days but would definitely be careful in the rain and try to avoid wet pavement, plus spills or freshly mopped floors in commercial establishments.

Received these as a gift from my wife to replace a pair of Arizona's that I loved. Great shoe, really comfortable once it gets worn in. Only issue is that the top "tongue" part of the shoe is really stiff at first. Have to make an effort to wear them to get them worn in and pliable. I am a size 12A and the narrow really fits me well. I'm a big fan of Birkenstocks (have been since my first pair of Arizona's in 1992); was a little surprised by the initial comfort issues, but I know I will wear this shoe, like my other one, for another 20 years.

After always having a pair of Arizona style Birkenstocks on hand for the past 20 years, I chose the Riva for something different. The Riva retains the fundamental support and comfort that I love about Birkenstocks. It has the familiarity and ease of wear of the Arizona. However, my main complaint with the Riva is that the connecting tongue takes some time to soften. Initially, the edges of it are a little sharp and may leave marks until it is broken in. Also, the Riva creates a more Praetorian appearance than I prefer, but I am getting used to them. All of that comes along with trying something different.

I really like the looks of these Birks. The added leather piece between the toe strap and ankle strap looks good and provides quite a bit more support. The footbed is a Birk footbed so you get the well known great support. The only drawback has been the leather connector strap's inner edge seems to land right on my foot's big toe ridge and puts a bit of uncomfortable pressure on that part of my foot. If I loosen the strap where it doesn't hurt, then the shoe is too loose on my foot. I'm hoping that leather will soften up with use.

These sandals are great for tired feet. I have a personal aversion to flip-flops, so I needed a good pair of sandals. It takes a couple of days to break Birkenstocks in, but so worth it.

I've been wearing Birkenstocks almost exclusively for 7 years, my Arizona's have bitten the dust, finally worn the straps out and can't have them resoled anymore so bought these on sale. However, the tops hit and rub the tops of my toes so badly I will have to wear socks with them. I basically walked around two blocks and am now missing skin from the tops of my toes. I think this is a fine shoe if you wear socks...I hate wearing socks, just another thing to wash. So these are a total waste of money.
