Right away, the leather straps rubbed deeply into the tops of my feet, resulting in discomfort and a little blood. However, my feet are usually very sensitive at the start of flip flop season and I am hopeful that the leather will soften and my feet will toughen and that these will be as comfortable as my other Birks. I have these a 4 for style as they are relatively cute for Birkenstocks.

My shoe size varies between a 7-8 in US sizing so I tried the size 39. They were much too big and wide. I wish these were offered in a narrow width. Very attractive shoe though.

These shoes are painful to break in. The straps cut into my foot for days. I was determined to wear them because they were so expensive. Once the straps softened I really liked them. I felt my foot slides in them though like they are too long. But the arch support is fantastic.

Very aesthetically pleasing. Ran normal Birkenstock large. Unfortunately haven't gotten past the point of straps digging in as previous people commented. As a result I haven't been able to wear them more than a few blocks at a time.

I was kinda disappointing that this style of Birkenstock did not provide the amount of width support I have been accustomed to in Birks but it was silly of me to try and get that from a flip flop. KUDOS to Zappos' for letting me exchange them after owning them for 5 months and wearing them! Your Customer service is worth every penny!

This is my first pair and I have friends who swear by this brand! The toe post is very rigid and thick, it cut into my foot, still on the fence for a true rating. I am taking them to be altered a bit.

Not quite sure if I am keeping these yet...we've had so much snow this winter I'm not sure if it will ever warm up to wear sandals.Actually the fit is different b/c of the formed foot bed..may be too rigid for me. I need to walk on carpeted floors a little bit more to decide if I keep them.

Difficult to walk in, takes practice (which a shoe shouldn't require). They have a tendency to flip around and get caught up around the buckle, seem insecure on foot, straps really not enough to hold the foot in.

Wow, I wear flip flops all the time, but these really hurt. I wore them around the house for two days, but they showed no sign of "breaking in." The leather straps scrape on your foot, just way too uncomfortable. Too bad, they were cute. Birkies are my favorite thing, and I was looking forward to wearing a pair that looks a bit more feminine. Oh well, keep trying!

I usually love Birks but this particular style was very uncomfortable due to the thick and stiff toe thong. Couldn't stand that all summer long! Had to go back.

I've worn Birkenstocks for years, in various styles, and I'm also a big flip-flop wearer, so I figured that the reviewers who commented about the strap between the toes being uncomfortable were just super-sensitive, but wow, were they right! I wanted to love these shoes--they seemed like a combination of flip-flops and Birkenstocks, and what could be bad about that? But the way the straps join between the toes is really bizarre and caused the leather to dig into the tops of my feet, as well as between my toes, and I just wasn't willing to give it time to see if it would soften up. I wish these had worked, but I ended up going with another style of Birkenstocks instead. Maybe you'll have better luck.

After 3 years of only wearing these shoes inside in warm weather, both toe straps have come undone from the soul of the sandal. I'm surprised this happened with such minimal wear. I expect more from Birkenstock.

Ouch! Do not buy these shoes! I have worn Birkenstocks exclusively for years, and was excited to try these as they are such a cute style! I put them on and went to the grocery store and an hour later had deep cuts where the straps were! I had to go home and change shoes before continuing my day, and it is now 4 months later and I still have scars from the shoes!! After only wearing them for an hour or two! Absolutely ridiculous, horrible quality and not at all what I would expect from Birkenstock...returned these with an angry letter of course!

Love the sleek styling with the Birkenstock support. My other Birks except the Madrid are more clunky. My only complaint is going to be the break-in period on these. I tried them on, they fit well, started wearing them around the house for a while so they are not new as you can't wear them with socks easily. I quickly discovered the underside of the oiled leather is like sand paper on the top of my feet. I've applied leather conditioner. It softened it a bit but still very difficult to wear. I'm now trying to wear socks with them until they soften up. I don't remember this on other leather Birks I've had. I've rated them 1 star overall and one star on comfort. I'm trusting after the break-in period I would change the rating to a 4 or five.

I bought these shoes because I have loved Birkenstock sandals in the past. But, the leather cuts into the top of my feet and I cannot wear them. I have tried breaking them in and softening the leather but nothing works. I'm so disappointed.

I usually love Birkenstocks and have worn them for years, but this style is torture to my feet! The straps are so rough on the inside, they actually cut into the top of my foot. Obviously I'm returning them.

I have not owned Birenstocks before, but ordered two flip flop type Birkies...this one is SO uncomfortable. I like the other ones and can't wait to break them in.

Most uncomfortable pair of shoes I've ever owned. I've tried everything to "break in" these sandals but they are still not wearable. Really sorry I wasted my money on them!

I bought the Pink Patent UK 38 (North American size 7.5).It was my first pair of Birks. The size was true to my normal 7.5 but I tried on other birks in the mall in person just to be sure. As others have mentioned, yes the straps do dig in and cut a bit when you are breaking them in-but that only lasted about 2 weeks. I broke them inslowly wearing them only when I wouldn't be walking very long distances. I wore bandaids under the T-straps to prevent cuts. After they were broken in, they are great and no blisters or cuts from the straps. They are the most comfortable pair of sandals I own, and I wear them almost daily. I think that the new style and comfort are totally worth the breaking in period.
