I've never bought Frye boots before, and boy was I surprised when I received these. I bought the red and black. The quality is outstanding, the heel is just right without breaking your neck, and they were exactly what I was looking for. They're made in the USA to boot. How refreshing. I went with other reviewers on the size. I bought an 8 and an 8.5. I'd say they are a 1/2 size too large. I could wear both the 8 and 8.5, but I choose the 8 because the ankle was smaller and didn't stick out where I couldn't get a pair of straight leg jeans over them. They are narrow, but from merely wearing them around for 20 minutes, they're already stretched out. I was anxious about the foot width on the black pair because darker leathers tend to be smaller. They didn't stretch out as easily at the red pair, but I'm sure with some wear, they'll be just fine. I recommend buying your normal size, and a half size down. They will both fit you, but you're surely like one more than the other. I do not recommend these for people with wider feet. But hey, with free return shipping, what's there to lose? My personal con to these boots is the weird discoloration on the red leather. I don't care for it. But, it's not a deal breaker for me. You'd be surprised by how hard it is to find a simple lace up boot without a bunch of zippers and buckles. The quality alone speaks for the price.

Finally tried some Frye's - wasn't sure about making the investment but don't regret it at all. These boots are amazing, so comfy from the first wear. The perfect heel for a little height but all-day wearable. Beautiful color and goes with just about anything. Well worth it!

This boot is a beautiful color. Was looking for a summer time boot and this fit the bill. Being petite, I always need something with a bit of heel, and this has that plus total comfort. Frye products are quality made with a sense of hand craftsmanship. This soles are rubber which helps with the rain/puddles and is grooved for good support when walking about. Ties can be cumbersome but you get use to them for the style of the boot. They are also a tad heavy but that could also be because I am 8 months pregnant!

There aren't any downside to these boots other than not being able to wear them in the summer. It's amazing that what is really a work boot is this comfortable and looks so sexy at the same time. They are made of beautiful leather, inside and out and smell wonderful. There is nothing like the smell of good quality leather. The heel height at 2 1/4" is offset by the front platform that takes the heel height down to 1 3/4" which when coupled with the stable heel, is perfect for spending the day wandering around in comfort. I bought a size 8, which was the correct size with a thin weight sock or a pair of tights. There is ample room for my foot to spread out in, even after walking all day. I have both high arches and a high instep and have broken an ankle. All of that can make even a lace up boot a problem to fit. These boots have been engineered so well that my problem feet have none. I'm getting a second pair in black. I love these boots. I've owned Frye boots almost all of my life and I know that with normal care a Frye boot can live to be 20 years old and show little of it's age. It makes the price of these boots well worth the money. I also love that these boots are made in the USA.

I love these boots! I'm normally a size 6.5 or 7, I have narrow feet and these fit great. I originally purchased this boot in 2012 and the quality is so great, they still look cool! I walked the streets of San Francisco on a trip (all day), I was fine. Just enough edge but still a classic boot to dress up or down! I ordered a 6.5 in the saddle.

Love, love, love these boots, they are all I've been looking for and they're made in the U.S.A.! So well made and comfortable, especially since I have problem feet, I wear these without my orthotics.

I absolutely love these! They are beautifully crafted and high quality! They go with jeans, pants, leggings, skirts. You cannot go wrong! The saddle color is gorgeous!

Gorgeous boots. I first tried these in a size 9 (the size I wear for all Frye boots), and they were too tight. I then tried a 9.5, which were a tad loose, with not much cushioning. So I slipped an insert in and heaven! I usually can't wear heels this high, but these are extremely comfortable and walkable. Also, made in the USA. Just be sure you order up a half-size and use an insert (I used the Ariat boot inserts). I bought them in the burnt red: a subdued red, not at all flashy. Really nice boots. :)

When shopping Frye boots, you know it will last you a decade. These shoes are solid! Great fit, easy to break in, very comfortable. I am now winter ready.

I recently admired a woman in a coffee shop wearing lace up boots with a medium stacked heel. My search was on. These might be the exact pair. While they are just what I was after, the heel is a teensy higher than what I usually wear (will I get used to that?) and I find that I might be a little too lazy to embrace the lacing. Every day. Pull. Adjust. Pull. Adjust. Pull. Adjust. Tie. Maybe I need the kind of boots that look like lace-up but have a zipper at the back? In any case, I found them to be true-to-size, of exceptional quality, and cute. They were exactly what I was looking for.

Thank you Zappos for your patience and fantastic return policy. It took about 6 tries with different styles and brands until I found this match made in heaven. Beautiful boot, comfortable and well made. I love the burnt red color. I am a 7.5/8. This is my 3rd pair of Fryes and I find an 8 to work best for me. I might have been able to go down to a 7.5 but chances are then this boot would be too tight. And since the Red was not available in a 7.5 it was an easy decision.

These boots are worth the money. Beautiful leather and except for an arch that feels a little high, very comfortable out of the box.

These boots are extremely comfortable. The toebox is roomy even for a foot with Morton's Neuroma. The leather is supple and soft. The look is rugged & contemporary. They work well with skinny leg jeans.

Very happy with these. They are a lot more comfortable than I expected! The stitching is perfect. The leather is the highest quality. They are ruggedly, functionally sexy (as in, do you like women with muscles?) and make your feet look good. You could wear them all day. What more do you need!?

The boots are beautiful leather and excellent craftsmanship. I have not had the opportunity to wear them much yet, but already have received compliments. Love the heel height and the thick soles.

I tried on these boots several months ago and had to send them back because the fit was very weird on my feet: the arch support did not line up with my arches, and there was also not enough cushioning for me. Having said that, I also realize that my feet are tough to fit, so I gave these boots five stars because they are truly beautiful boots, and very well made. They are also true-to-size: if you normally wear a 9 in Frye, a 9 in these would fit, as well. My suggestion is to try them out: if they fit, you will never regret purchasing them. They are really that nice.

I don't think you can go wrong with anything Frye. I have these in "Tan" and they are a lovely, gradiating color fading from a light brown to a darker brown. They smell like quality, thick leater. The fit is true to size. I normally order a size 8 in all of my Frye shoes/boots except my two pairs of Carmen Harness, which are a size 9.
