These are the same soles as the Merrell Barefoot Trail Glove with every other feature matched. The difference is the upper material and styling. Note that one of the negative reviewers (Jonathan B) admitted to a "traditional" running style and seems not to have taken the correct approach.

Great shoe. I am using it for Crossfit super for lifting, box jumps, jump ropes and burpees.

I have purchased 3 pair of barefoot shoes for me, and convinced my husband to try a pair. He loves his and has a hard time finding comfortable shoes with a protruding bone on top of his foot. Wonderful design and fit!

Out of the box these shoes were exactly what I was looking for. They are light, durable and tactfully reserved in design. One area lacking in design though is the heel, which initially causes some minor skin irritation when worn without socks.

I haven't run in these yet, but wear them a lot. Once you get them laced properly, most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. I could see them working just fine for running.

Excellent feel, great to run in, ended up returning for a half size smaller than I usually wear.

These shoes have the potential to be some of the most comfortable shoes you'll ever wear. The trick is being able to wear them long enough to get to that point. In my case, these shoes dug into my achilles heel something fierce during the first week or so of use. I tried wearing them with socks as has been suggested by some other Zappos reviewers, but even still, these shoes had dug in so hard that it tore through two layers of skin and left me with bloody spots on my socks and not a small amount of pain. I put bandages on the wounds and wore my other shoes for a few days to give myself time to heal. Then I tried again, with bandages and socks. Things went a lot better. The shoes were quite comfortable and I just had to adjust to walking differently. My achilles heels are now healed and the shoes are broken in. And now, I absolutely adore these shoes. I've worn them enough that I've adjusted the way I walk and jog, which makes wearing my old shoes feel awkward and almost uncomfortable. Maybe not everyone will have this same experience. Depending on the exact fit of the shoe and the shape of the buyer's heel, I imagine a lot of people won't have the issue at all. But I would recommend to anyone buying these shoes to wear socks and even bandages (or some other material between the sock and the skin) at the point where the top of the shoe meets the achilles heel during the breaking in period. I would also recommend checking Merrell's website for measurements as the generic ones used by Zappos are off by somewhere between half a size and a full size. This type of shoe more than any other needs a good fit, so don't take any chances.

Lightweight shoe, fits comfortably with lots of toe room for the foot to spread out when running. Somewhat slippery on wet concrete sidewalks and the back by the pull-loop is a hard material which digs into my Achilles tendon, causing discomfort on some days. Good for playing soccer, hiking and running. Laces are a bit short as well.

Very nice shoe and worth every penny! It takes a little bit to break them in because they have a very tough vibram sole on them but once you do you're golden.

Great product as are all Merrell shoes. I should also mentioned that Zappos must have shipped these within the hour of my ordering because they were here in 2 days after I ordered. Great service.

These are great shoes. They are just what is advertised a minimal shoe with a good sole and traction enough for the trail. They are wearing great and seem to be well made. They are a very true fit which is great. They lose stars on comfort just because I would only recommend them to someone with use to using muscle in their feet that others do not know exist.

I was on a hunt to find a good pair of shoes for parkour and free running, so I looked on a website which recommended those types of shoes. One of the shoes on there were 5-Fingers, but those, in my opinion, look ridiculous and very difficult to put on so I went to my local Mountain High Outfitters and tried these bad boys on because they are built similar to the 5-Fingers but don't look absurd. All I have to say is wow. I have been thoroughly impressed with their performance. They are very lightweight and allow me to feel what I'm balancing on, like rails or bars, but still give me enough cushion from a big jump so I don't kill me feet. So from parkour, to white water rafting, to chilling, these shoes are lavenous.

When they say barefoot, they provide an accurate description. The shoes conform so closely to the shape of the foot that you feel barefoot. Very comfortable!

I'm not one to write a shoe review normally, but these shoes are absolutely fantastic. I wear them no matter what I do whether it is hiking, running, or just casual day to day walking these have been a blessing. It took me no time at all to get used to and I won't ever buy another pair of Nikes ever again!

I have become a convert to the zero-drop movement in shoe design. I wore the True Gloves on a 100 mile/5-day backpacking trip and found them comfortable and tough. I have been wearing barefoot style shoes for months for hiking, running and everyday activities - and would suggest that those new to barefoot-style shoes ease into wearing them for strenuous activities.

The shoes are extremely comfortable and provide arch support through the narrow width from the heal up to the mid foot. The toe box is wide enough to support minimalist running to truly let your foot spread out and absorb impact. The shoes do not absorb any odors and haven't picked up any smells after a week of usual wear without any socks. Overall, I would purchase again.

I wasn't sure about the fit of these out of the box (seemed a bit roomy in the toe box at first), but I have quickly grown to love them. They seem true to size. sufficient padding but still has a pseudo-barefoot feel (not as much so as Five-Fingers). I really like this shoe a lot and would recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable, minimalist shoe.

These were my first pair of barefoot-style shoes and I've been very happy with their performance. Comfortable to run in out of the box, look pretty much like normal shoes, have held up well over the past month. Sizing was a little tricky - I initially tried my normal shoe size but the area with the laces felt too tight on the top of my feet. Going up 1/2 sized solved the problem.

I haven't worn these on a long walk yet, which will be the real test. But so far they're incredibly comfortable, and a nice alternative to sandals for people who like their feet to be covered.

I was looking for a lightweight breathable shoe for workouts at the gym and this one is perfect. I personally would not use it for a running/walking shoe because it does not provide enough support.

These shoes pretty much rock! Very comfortable in any condition, they will change your mind about support and comfort. It's like being barefoot, with shoes! Wear them for whatever, then throw them in the washing machine to clean! Sizing is a little odd, I found that I needed at least a half size smaller than normal, some might need a full size smaller.
