My go to travel bag. It's durable, stylish, and holds all I need for a 3-7 day trip. I have never had any problem fitting this into the overhead storage bin of a passenger jet. If my bag was really loaded down, I could put this under my seat as well. I love the option to wear this as a backpack. It is much easier, in my opinion, to dragging a roller bag through a crowded airport.
I would suggest one small tweak. Add the option for a removable shoulder strap to give a person the option to carry the bag that way. To be able to throw a strap over my shoulder would give me the ability to keep hands free, but also to access a pocket in the bag without having to set the bag down.
All in all, I really like this bag and it looks like it is constructed for years of use.

This bag is solid. I compared it to the North Face Base Camp Duffel before making my decision and the construction on the Patagonia was much better. The zippers are solid and the bag should be very water resistant as long as the storm flap is facing up. Also the four daisy chains make it easy to strap down to a roof rack or other mode of transportation.
I'll be using this 50/50 for outdoor recreation usage and travel and it'll be used as a check in bag over this Christmas holiday. I appreciate the removable (and nicely padded) shoulder straps as it eliminates one way bags get destroyed on the luggage carousels.
My only qualm is that the color I ordered wasn't accurately depicted (though I don't think this is a fault of Zappos). I ordered the 'Copper Ore' color expecting a cherry red bag with yellow trim; in actuality this bag is much more of a rust color and the trim is a pastel orange. Not a complete deal breaker to me but I wish I wasn't semi catfish-ed by the photo.
I'd also recommend:
Arc'teryx, North Face, Marmot

The duffel appears to be just what I want but I haven't had a chance to see if it meets airline "carry-on" specifications (although many of the reviews indicated that it shouldn't be a problem). My only complaint is that the color I ordered - black - was not the one that arrived. It wasn't a big enough deal to go through the process of returning it.

Got this in Purple, hoping to use it as a carry-on and weekend pack for weekend trips while I am studying in Italy. The shoulder straps are padded and really comfortable, and I love that I don't have to lug this thing around with one arm, and especially not on two wheels over those cobblestones over there. This is not a big suitcase, but it looks like a standard-sized carry-on bag, which is perfect for three or four days, depending on how much stuff you like to bring. I am a cross-body bag type of girl, so I am a bit disappointed that it doesn't have a long strap, but I will figure something out. A very light bag, which I much prefer to the rolling bags that weigh 10 pounds before you even put your toothbrush in it. I'm happy with my purchase. Exactly what I was looking for.
