Just what I was looking for! I wanted a purple tea kettle to coordinate with my Le Creuset Cassis-colored cookware. Very subtle color and the always excellent OXO ergonomic design. Blazing fast delivery by Zappos!

Over the years I have been repeatedly disappointed to see rust spots form in every stainless steel kettle I purchased, not realizing that this is to be expected. The tiny information paper that came with the OXO Good Grips kettle includes instructions for removing "rust and mineral deposits," as well as other useful care and cleaning advice. The design of the kettle is elegant, both in appearance and in ease of use. The spout cap does open automatically upon tilt, making pouring very easy. This is a great feature. The handle never gets too hot, although the instructions advise using a pot holder. My only complaint with this item is that the whistle is not very loud.

This is the second one we have owned. Easy to keep clean, easy to use, and has a nice modern look to it. We love the silicon handle. Hope they keep making them! We use it to boil water for a French Press, highly recommend this 2.0 Qt. size.

Very happy with teakettle. I have the stainless one in our second home and have never had a problem with it, bought this one because it brightened up my white kitchen. Of course, you can't beat Zappos for ease of ordering & speedy delivery!

Fabulous functional product, this little kettle has everything. I love the handle pouring release. I was worried about it at first but it seems very sturdy popping up and down with the lid. The kettle is also very easy to clean (The lid is an optical illusion. It only seems like there is a tiny hole at the top!) & I love the colors, the purple matches my kitchen fabulously!

This kettle has been great. Nice whistle, sturdy construction, no rust that I've seen yet (we didn't have that problem with previous kettle either - I wonder if the kind of water one has makes a difference?). I had kind of hoped that the whistle top would automatically descend into place each time (so husband couldn't melt this kettle like the last one!), but it's not quite that automatic. Still, I love the construction and the look and am really happy with this tea kettle!

I had never heard of Zappos but they were they only seller that had the teapot in the color we wanted. The price was competitive, the shipping was free and it was the fastest delivery I have ever gotten online. For me Zappos is now a "to go to place".

This is a kettle. It's heavy and nice; it's more than adequate. The paint is thick, so I don't think it will rust quickly if you empty it at night and dry the lid, per the instructions. It's probably going to last three or four years. I had this kettle for eight years and just replaced it. I never opened the lid or emptied and dried that one, and when I looked inside, it was all rusted/corroded. I'll take better care of this one. I ordered and returned four other stovetop kettles; this is the heaviest and best.

Generally very good teakettle, does what it is supposed to do - boil water. The angled fill opening limits the amount of water that it will hold, but no surprise there. My fiancée had trouble pulling off the lid, because the friction fit is very tight. However, grasping the main handle and then reaching into the lid handle with one or two fingers, it is easy to pull off the lid by just tightening your grip. The whistle is loud enough for us, the construction seems sturdy, and the insulated handle is easy to pick up and open the spout. We haven't had the teakettle long enough to know if there will be a problem with rusting or mechanical failure, though it seems these are minimal risks. The instructions specify not using full heat on it, but I am not sure why. So far we are satisfied with the performance, and like the style. The blue enamel is a great color, and seems well applied, with no rough or missing spots.

Good kettle. However, the handle becomes loose and it is hard for a man to get a hand in to tighten it. Also, we burned it on stove. Our fault. Can it be used now? All water burned out of it.

We love this tea kettle. You do need to take care of it and not have the heat go over the sides of the kettle and not overfill. It is 1.8 quarts, to be exact, rather than 2 quarts, so if you want a really large one I wouldn't pick this teakettle. The size is fine for our family of 6.

Love the color and look, however is inconsistent with whistling, which was one of the most important aspects for me!

Kettle is well constructed and so it is very heavy even without water. When the water is added it becomes too heavy for me (60 year old). So I'm sending it back for something lighter.

We loved this kettle - it is easy to use, does not have an annoying whistle, and is stylish looking. Unfortunately, after less than 2 years, the whistle popped out of the spout and the lid fell apart and is irreparable - all within a week! I would love another but feel it should not fall apart that quickly.

Kettle performs well; the capacity is plenty large enough for us, handsome in chrome - the but is, the whistle is so feeble that it can't even be heard across the kitchen (when it works), let alone in the next room. It could burn out for not being aware it is ready. I like the pot and hate to have to return it over the whistle; on the other hand, I wanted a whistling pot for its warning. What to do?

I looked around a while for a nice tea kettle, because I wanted one that would last a long time, function in a streamline & simple manner, and look nice/stylish on my stove. This does fit was I was hoping for very well. I love the 'butter' color and how the 'uplift' works when you pick up the tea kettle by the handle and the cover over the spout lifts up. I think the whistle when it is boiling is very nice; I think I read complaints about that by others, but I cannot find anything that is lacking. The handle does not get hot that I have noticed. I have used it almost daily for over a month and it seems like it will last a long time without rusting or eroding. I am careful to empty the water out and dry the inside after using it to avoid early wearing. Hope this is helpful, I enjoy it a lot and hopefully you will too!

T whistle works, if this tea kettle is filled no more than halfway. Otherwise, it will be burned to junk if the temperature is no more than medium of two extremes: Low and High. The handle is plastic on the middle metal cover, and if the heat is too high, the metal cover will melt down those plastic legs of a handle and there will be no way to open this Tea Kettle which is very tight even if is cool. For such a high price OXO was able to make this handle from stainless steel and to paint it in black for aesthetic and long lasting use to prevent melting. The design is very nice, but this item is overpriced compare to similar size Tea Kettles. In general, OXO products are well designed, but overpriced with no exceptions.

I love OXO products, and this teapot is wonderful. Handle doesn't get hot. Love the way that you just hold the handle, tip, and pour.

Great tea kettle! At first I was a little apprehensive to order this tea kettle as I was looking for a purple one. After internet research and reading various reviews I decided against a kettle with a paint or enamel finish (finish can chip or burn) and to select one which is stainless steel. (Also, if you go with stainless steel, you want the 18/8 stainless steel which this kettle is - bonus!) I was also apprehensive about the large rubberized handle I wanted the tea kettle to look classy. I ordered it anyways based on other reviews and I love it! So happy with my decision. It looks great, very shiny and professional. The rubber handle doesn't look cheap in person and doesn't get too hot either when the water is ready, although the manufacturer recommends using a pot holder. No issues with rust yet (I've only had it for 1 month so I would hope not! But, the manufacturer includes instructions on how to clean if necessary.) I also really love the up-lift feature of this kettle, another reason I purchased it I didn't want to have to push buttons or pull triggers to open the spout to avoid burning myself. My only complaint is the whistle is not as loud as I was hoping it would be. If you are only 1-2 rooms away, you should be fine, but I doubt you would hear it if on another level of a house/apartment/etc. I use this kettle 2 or 3 times a day and again, love it! I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

Love this Tea Kettle! The look and functionality are great. On the cold days here I use it two and three times. When the heat waves hit it admittedly lies untouched waiting on cooler weather. Over the last several weeks I have used this kettle probably 3-4 dozen times and absolutely love it. The one thing I would say is not my favorite is the whistle. It's a little warbly and not as strong as I would like. I will also say I originally bought the anniversary addition with the cork and it was just not for me. The look may be more aesthetically pleasing but it did not look in place in my black appliance kitchen. I also thought the spout lid was noisier opening and closing. Compared to the silicone handle and lid there is only moderate improvement on "clank" sound from the spout as the interior piece of the lid is also steel. Overall, love this kettle and very happy having it in a permanent place on my stove top.

I have had this tea kettle for about a year now & love it. The butter yellow color is beautiful. It has not rusted at all. The handle does not get hot. It is sturdy. It is easy to fill with water. I think it whistles very well and plenty loud, but not obnoxiously loud. My husband is very happy with it as well. Good value for the money. I researched quite a bit before buying a tea kettle and overall I am very happy with this one and would recommend it to others, definitely! Enjoy & hope this helps you make your decision!
