Easiest and safest can opener. Love knowing that dirt or foreign particles can't fall into the can and the edge is safe enough you could let your dog lick it out.

After I injured my right arm I found I couldn't use a regular can opener and tried this one from OXO. I love the opener, it's been helpful, but OXO needs to rethink its product packaging. The opener was encased in hard plastic (for protection in shipping) but I could not cut the plastic open due to my injury, and had to get someone to open the package for me. Once I started using this opener I wondered how I ever used the old style can opener...there's no going back.

Awesome can opener. Why didn't I get this sooner. Now I need a project to use those can tops.

This style took some getting used to. It is nice the lids cannot fall inside the can you're opening, but you also cannot easily use the lid to hold in the contents if you are draining the liquid portion (for me at least). Works great though, I like the pincher on the side to grab the lid so you don't have to touch it

I love this can opener! It works well and does not leave sharp edges or get messy from can contents. I won't go back to a traditional can opener after using this one.

It works way better than my old one. One complaint I have about it is that you have to turn the handle a whole lot of times (like 15) to get the can open. I think if I had to buy another one I would buy an electric one, or one with longer handle (for more torque) and a different gear ratio so I have to turn it less times.

I was at my brother's house and used his. It was so easy to use, afterward we could actually put the top back on if needed. I've used one like this but never worked this easy. I had to buy him his own. Guess what he's getting on Father's Day.

Not a great can opener to be quite honest. Once it's done a full rotation, the lid has to be jostled off.

We got one of these as a wedding gift. It only lasted about 3 years before the metal parts were so worn that they couldn't cut through the rim of a can anymore. I expected better quality and longer life from OXO, particularly given the price. I would not buy another.

I bought this, and after a year the blade is dull: cannot open anything. Very frustrating. I had to pry things open. I went and bought a cheapie at the general store to hold me over. Really not satisfied!
I'd also recommend:
Don"t know still looking.

This can opener has changed my life! I'm never going back to traditional ones. There are absolutely *no* sharp edges. The lid doesn't fall into the can and get dirty, making the lid quicker to rinse off and keeping the can's contents free from dust and other stuff. Once opened the can top will not fit inside of the can as it does with traditional openers, but it is still possible to use the lid to drain the liquid with some strategic placement (albeit sans "smooshing" action... no more smooshing to drain the can of tuna). The can opener itself doesn't get dirty like traditional ones since the blade does not go into the can and touch the liquid contents. Once used, it does take more elbow-grease to get the top off the can than with a traditional opener, but that's what the little pliers on the side are for. I've never had a problem and I generally consider myself pretty weak. And bonus... with the can firmly on the counter when you remove the top, there's no spillage from fishing the lid out with a fork or doing that awkward thing where you leave the last bit attached and pull the top up. Also, the pliers stay clean and grip very well so I can toss the top directly from the can into the sink / trash without making a mess or getting my hands dirty at all. All of the above are generally true, I believe, of any smooth-edge can-opener. As for this particular style from Oxo... I find it much easier to use than other styles I've seen. (A friend has another, smaller, smooth-edge concept and I can never figure out where and how I'm supposed to put it on the can). I like the big handle on this one with Oxo's standard rubbery-feel material -- it makes it easy to grip. I've had mine about 2 years now under what I would consider "normal" use, and it doesn't seem to have dulled that I've noticed.... I suppose time will tell. As mentioned above, it's also not dirty in the slightest after 2 years' of use since there's never any can spillage during use. I love it so much I bought another as a present and even use it on cans that already have the "pull-tab" top so I don't cut myself.

I got this as a gift (I asked for it!) and have used it for several years. I gave away an electric because this is the only one I want to use. The opener releases the seal. The top still has adhesive between it and the can. I find it very easy to hold the top with my fingertips and wiggle it, and lift it up off the can. I do hold the can steady with my opposite hand. (You might see some strands of adhesive as you lift the lid off.) I love this opener and will definitely replace it if anything ever happens to it.

I LOVE this opener! Highly recommend it. So easy to open and it cuts the lid so that it isn't sharp and can be replaced on the can to store the contents if you don't use everything in it.

I adore it. I had an accident that resulted in nerve injury to my right hand. That made using an manual can-opener a real pain, no pun intended. I swapped to this product on a friend's recommendation and I have not gone back. It is a little bulky in the drawer, which is why I mark down for style. But in a way that is good too, I never have to look for it since it is large enough it all but leaps out at me. It does what it is designed to do and leaves a perfectly safe edge on the can and the lid. I have found the lids to the can also fit back on for pretty handy storage when there is extra servings or for something I only needed to use a portion of (tomato sauce etc) for whatever I am cooking. Turns easily enough that I can manage, leaves clean, safe edges and seems pretty durable. I had mine for three years and it still works like new.

This is the best can opener of all. Just like all others, some cans don't open cleanly, and there are some designed in such a way to make it very hard to open, but for the 90% that work nicely, this is great. Not only do you get a clean opening that is not sharp, but since the cut is clean you can use the lid to seal the can again if you use only part of the contents.

The product performs as claimed. I am unable to grip it because of arthritis in both hands. My daughter was happy to get it. I will order a different kind. Zappos service is the best!

I love this product! No hang ups with a can that has a slight dent. Just what I wanted as many cans here in the VI arrive slightly dented. The free shipping is fabulous! The attitude of the employees of Zappos is contagious and makes me want to deal with this company. Thank you
