These are awesome boots! They are very stylish and gets lots of compliments. They are great with tights and dresses.

I've had these boots for about a day. One major problem that was obvious immediately: The plastic cap inside the toe of the shoe extended much too far. I can't bend my foot where it naturally bends when I walk because the plastic inside comes at least a centimeter past it. I'm not sure if this trait is prevalent for all sizes of the shoe or just for the smaller sizes, or if my feet are disproportional, but it is a problem. When I wear them the plastic edge is constantly digging into my foot. Maybe if I wear them enough, the plastic will get weakened enough so that it will hurt less. But don't count on it. The quality of the leather is nice, and the boots are very cute. I would have given them five stars if not for that one problem.

Love these boots. I ordered them along with a pair of very similar Sam Edelmans, knowing that I'd return whichever I liked least. Needless to say, these won out. It was a combination of the cute details, the easy fit, and the side zip for convenient on/off. These would be great for anyone with thick ankles or calves too, because of the wide tongue and the multiple lacing options. Hope I won't have any trouble with sole cracks, as in other reviews! For now, my only complaint is that they're a bit stiff, but I'm sure that they'll loosen soon enough.

Bought these for my teenage daughter. She loved them. The free return policy is the main reason I got them through Zappos, because you never know how shoes are going to fit & I hate paying for shipping twice. It all worked out great - no need to return!

I got these boots a month ago in black. It's really cute and comfortable but material feels really cheap not worth the price. I could have bought a no name brand for under 30 bucks. Overall, I like it. But if it goes on sale I will probably buy another pair in congac.

I ordered the tan leather in a size 7. I really love this style of combat boot. I get a ton of compliments and they go with everything and look great with skinny jeans and a loose top. But I will inform you the soles wear a little quickly.

The Troopa Boot is great! Had an issue with the zippers on both boots, but otherwise a great value. Real leather, not pleather.

Runs small. I ordered the black, in my usual size, and couldn't even get my foot all the way in. I exchanged them for a half size up, and they are still too small. They are cute, and give you the look of laces with the convenience of a zipper. They seem like they'd be comfortable if I went another round of sizing up, but I'm going to a different boot.

These shoes are super cute and stylish! I loved the lace up feature, which can be worn all kinds of ways. And the zipper on the side made it easy to slip them on and off. The width of the shoes felt a little more snug than I expected so I will not be able to wear thick wool socks with them during the winter. But other than that, I am happy with these boots. They are pretty versatile and so far, they feel great to walk in every day.

I loved these boots when they came in. The style is exactly what I was looking for. Too bad they're too small! I normally wear a 10 but had to return them and get them from the Steve Madden website because they were the only one I could find that carried an 11. They are very narrow and with socks on too small. Otherwise, Zappos rocks. I got them in 2 days.

Love these boots. They are comfortable (I can wear them all day at work) and great looking. They even make my feet look smaller!

Tried on these boots in the store. In cognac, the boot has a good non-skid sole. But in black, the sole is as smooth and slick as marble -- no grip whatsoever. So if slipping concerns you, avoid black.

Really awesome shoes. Look super old fashion but have a great sole so you don't slip, I live in icy Chicago. And comfy! And they were my exact size. Didn't have to worry if they would fit. Zappos is awesome too. You get your stuff fast and they are so nice and helpful on the phone!

I really love the way this boot looks. I ordered it a little too big but it still is snug around the ankle and calf, which is perfect. I was surprised at how slippery the soles are! I never slip outside, but when I'm indoors at school or shopping, I have slipped more than once. The soles also get beat up pretty easily. Be nice to these boots!

Awesome boot! I have been searching for the perfect pair of brown boots that are not like everybody else's (calf height, suede and/or just plain), and I found them. I love this combat look and it is unique (for now). I just got them today and was pleasantly surprised when I took them out of the box. They look exactly like the picture; they fit (slightly narrow across toe area but then again I have big feet - 10), and they are comfortable. I love the look of these boots; I might just have to buy another pair. The only possible downside that I foresee is the tread - or lack of. I live in Wisconsin and it is now winter; I am thinking I will need to be a bit more careful outdoors - but they are still a definite "do".

Love these boots with leggings! I have big feet, a size 9, but these shoes don't make them look man-ish. I wouldn't wear them with jeans bit on dresses, leggings, and skirts they're fabulous. Sole is very slippery though and I've fallen in them before.

First - Zappos rocks. You just can't beat free shipping! These boots are very good looking - true to size. One bummer. Though there is a zipper on the side, the laces still need to be somewhat loosened in order to get the foot inside the boot. This is an extra step I could do without. Otherwise, a handsome boot.

Just got these boots in the mail today - as usual, the shipping was super fast (ordered on Thursday, got them the next day). It is a beautiful boot, but just not quite the style I was looking for. All leather, inside and out, and true to size (I wear a 9, ordered a 9 and it fit perfect). Sole was definitely a little slick, and there is not much padding in the inside. But overall a really cute boot. Would be great for steampunk or vintage type styles.

Great boot! Love the vintage looking style (got the cognac/brown). Cute with dresses and tights. I love that it zips (as well as has the laces) which makes taking on & off easy. My only issue is the quality of the sole. I wore them once and the sole is already worn down because it is so thin & soft! I'm going to have to spend on taking them to a cobbler, which is a major bummer.

Surprisingly comfy. I've been wearing them with my skinny jeans folded over and tucked inside, and they bring just the right amount of edge to an otherwise boring black t-shirt and jeans. I only lace them halfway up so they gain a little extra shape (and fit over my pants). They're also cute with big socks and bare legs/tights. I just wish the sole had a teensy bit of tread.

Great boot. I like that the laces are fully functional, and it zips too. You can lace it halfway, and cinch it around the ankle, and let the very generous tongue open up. The only drawback is that the sole is not too thick, and I think I will have to add a rubber scuff or else it will wear down too quickly.

So previously purchase this same boot in brown but a size 8 and they are at least one size bigger and because they are bigger they have become quite ugly so when I purchase them in black I thought to buy a 7.5. Well they are too small for me and unfortunately I wore them and can't send them back. I also purchased these same boots like 5 years ago in brown and had to go up to a size 9 because they were to small in my regular size of 7.5. I guess it depends on the year and color in connection to their sizes.

Fit and size were spot on, and the boot was exactly what I was looking for. Gave only 3 stars because they wore out very quickly, soles are already falling apart and the finish on the leather comes off with the lightest scrapes.

I purchased these boots recently because they looked very cute online. I got them in the brown leather, and I was really pleased with how they looked in person. However, when I put the shoes on, they did not live up to my expectations. First, the footbed is very flat, hard, and cheaply made. These are not good shoes to buy if you do not have flat feet. I put a cushion insert in and that helped a lot. However, the second problem is that the heel cup is so hard and stiff that it rubs on the back of your heel when you try to walk, even if you are wearing thick socks. I would think that boots that looked so nice on the outside would be just as nice on the inside, or at least have a little padding around the heel. I will have to take these boots back because they are uncomfortable.
