These smelled SO UNBELIEVABLY BAD that I had to return them. They stank like they'd been marinated in Roundup. No clue what was wrong with them. I aired them out for 2 days but still could not stand the smell.

These shoes were not good. The laces bled black dye onto my hands when I tried to lace them up. The leather on the tongue is completely rough and unfinished. Really bad shoes.

These are cheaply made. Not worth the price. They have fallen apart with casual use in just 2 months.

These look terrific. Unfortunately, the odor is unacceptable. I left the box open in a ventilated area for several days but the smell persisted. Sadly, these will have to go back.

These boots were sent in the wrong size even though I ordered the correct size. This website has been compromised by phony shoes and inept fulfillment workers.

Although these shoes claim to come in wide they do not. I've ordered two pairs from two totally different places months apart and each pair arrived Medium width. The box says wide but I could instantly tell they were narrow and sure enough, each pair had 10 M stamped on the inside. If you are looking for a wide boot, these are not it. Since I ordered them from two different websites at different times I don't think this is an issue with zappos...but a problem with Steve Madden. What a disappointment.

I ordered this pair in 11W. The box said 11W, but I couldn't even get the boots on. I checked the label on the boots and both said 11M. I called explained and had a new pair shipped to me and the exact same thing happened. Box 11W - boots 11M. I don't know if they actually carry 11W in this style of shoe or if I just had bad luck twice in a row. I gave them to my mom, she's 10M and she said they fit perfectly, so even if they were wide they probably wouldn't have fit properly.

These boots are just plain crap. Cheap leather, cheap stitching and laughably, the tongue isn’t even leather! Bought on a whim and returning because they’re just awful. I’m sticking with my Fryes.

I love the style of these boots but, for this price, I would have expected to wear them for at least a few months! I could not wear them for more than 3 months for light walking (not everyday, though!) before the heel and sole broke! I am so disappointed at Steve Madden. The boots also look very cheaply made.

DON'T BUY THESE! The sole and the leather came apart at the seam of the shoe (where the leather meets the sole. There's no way to repair that. IT'S SO DISAPPOINTING.

I loved my first pair of Troopas. They lasted years even though I wore them all the time. Apparently they don't make that color anymore, so I went with the brown. They must not "make them liked they used to." These feel cheap. After just a few times of wearing them, they are already chipped and they look incredibly worn. And somehow what is even worse, is that they make this ominous squeak sound when I walk. Like, it sounds like a boat scraping up against a wooden dock, but not in a relaxing way, in a way that you feel like something really bad is about to happen. I'm pretty disappointed.

Dont bother. The heels wore out immediately and actually broke apart after average use. These are very cheaply made!

The shoes looked cheaply made. The stitching was misaligned, the material looked of inferior quality and the soles were thin. These were on sale and I'm still returning them.

I bought a pair of Troopas in late 2010 and loved them. Wore them every day for months for years! I ordered a replacement pair and they are NOT the same. The leather is thicker, stiffer, and darker. The soles are stiff and thick. The laces are cheaper. The toe is incredibly roomy and the shaft is wide but the bridge is very narrow. The only upshot is a better zipper. I loved that the old Troopas were delicate and soft, unlike traditional combat boots. Returning them, very sadly.

very cute combat boots, didn't give them to my granddaughter as a Birthday gift so I have no way of knowing about the fit. There is a very strong and awful CHEMICAL smell coming from the shoes...left the box open for days tried airing them out on my front porch. Its in there to stay....was making me nausous! have to return them, perhaps look for genuine leather boots.

The heel wore out in a few months and was the support cut into my foot and they were unwearable. Look good but too low quality.

Liked the photo of these, but they were weird in person; something about the leather and height of the boot. They also ran large.

I thought they were a good deal. They were awful. I gave them to Salvation Army. Purchased Rockport Cobb Hill Bethany instead. They are more expensive, but worth every penny!

I got a pair of these boots and within a month the sole fell off and there we're huge holes in the bottom of the boot. The boot was comfortable at first, but then I ended up getting many blisters. The boot was a waist of money and a complete rip-off.

I had a pair of these shoes in college, but unfortunately 3 years of ice, snow, and salt in chicago ruined them. Because they were my favorite shoes, I decided to order another pair. However, the second I opened the box, I knew something was off. The shoes looked the same, but the leather chemical smell was horrible. Just trying on the shoe made my socks and clothes reek. The room I left the shoes in overnight smelled horrible the next day as well. I'm currently airing out the shoes in my garage, but it's been about 3 weeks and there's not been any improvement. I'm considering returning them, which makes me sad because I really did love these shoes the first time I ordered them.

Now, don't get me wrong. I loved these boots and wore them nearly every day to my bar tending job and in my day to day life. Naturally, that can be hard on a pair of shoes but they were so comfortable and the more they got worn, the better they looked… And then it happened, the soles on both shoes cracked in half at the ball of my foot after 2 months. I tried to return them, and was denied from Steve Madden's website and it was explained to me that they were not covered for more than 30 days. I was obviously very upset but I loved the look of them, so I got another pair that looked almost exactly the same by Sketchers for half the price. Ive had them for a year now, and they are going strong. Needless to say, I will never buy Steve Madden products again.

The heel split in half the first time my daughter wore them. The heel is layered particle board so it cannot be repaired, a new heel must be put on. Bought them at Dillards 4 months prior thinking her others would wear out in the future. Took them to shoe repair shop and he was able to separate the other heel in half with his bare hand with minimal effort. Paying $20.00 to have a true leather heel replaced on both. First pair bought 1.5 years ago were of very good quality.

Bought these for my daughter's birthday in August for her to take on her semester abroad. When she came home in December, they were trashed. Scuffed up horribly, the soles worn through, etc. I did not take them back to Nordstrom because I was not sure how much she had worn them in Scotland. Now that I read all these other reviews, I wished I had. I was so disappointed in the quality.
