I bought these boots to take to Ireland. I haven't gone on my trip yet, but these boots will be perfect. They are not real heavy like some boots. I did order a half size larger and that was a wise idea since I needed more room with socks. They are waterproof and don't look so masculine.

I love my new boots! They are so comfortable and very stylish. I bought the size I usually take in boots which is 1/2 size up. The toe box is wide enough for my foot.

Love them! These boots are light, sturdy, excellent arch support. I love the styling and the color selection. I bought the red mahogany, and they look and feel great. Even thought they are solid boots, they don't look "clunky". I bought size 11M, which is the size I usually get and the fit was perfect.

I have wide, low volume feet with narrow heels. Add in some bunions and high arches, and it is very hard for me to find any shoes that fit. So when I needed boots to go on a 5 day backpack adventure in Norway on the Hardangarvidda, I was resolved to just being in pain. Enter the Ahnu Montara. First, I got purple - how cool is that. Second, I quickly found that these boots are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn - really, ever. I would wear them with an evening gown if I could. No break-in period, they just felt good. I wear them with my orthotics and SmartWool socks. On the hike they were fantastic. I crossed streams, walked through muddy marshes, traversed snow fields - my feet were dry and warm the whole time. They shed water like a duck as one reviewer noted. Not even a hint of a blister. Totally comfy. Buy them. (Note: I also bought the Sugarpine boots, but the Sugarpine was too narrow in the toe-box. I was surprised that the fit between the boots was so different.)

Very comfortable. Very lightweight. Very high quality. Beautiful boots. Money well-spent. I am so lucky I got the pairs of size 5!

This is such a wonderful boot. I was hoping it would be wide enough for my feet that sometimes need a wide and sometimes don't. Sadly, they were not. They offer great support and run true to length but are a little narrow. If these came in a wide width. I would buy 3 pairs.

SUMMARY of my review: Get 1/2 size bigger, no break-in period, good for warm weather-feet won't overheat, Zappos ships fast and it was free to ship the first pair back to them for an exchange :) REVIEW: I ordered a size 8.5 in the Ahnu Montara Boot for my daughter. In some shoes she wears an 8 and some she wears an 8.5. I should have ordered a 9 in the first place, knowing that 1/2 size bigger for a boot is necessary to account for swelling feet while hiking. I was worried because she had signed up for a big hiking trip with her college and I wanted to make sure she had time to break in the boots. We had a camping trip to Sequoia planned first and I thought that easy going family trip would be the perfect time to break in the boots before her big trip to the Appalachian trail. I was able to order the size 9's and Zappos shipped them before I even put the size 8.5 pair in the mail. It was awesome that they didn't have to receive the first pair back before shipping the replacement. We got the size 9's within 3 days just in time for our family vacation! My daughter wore them around camp and said they were super comfortable. Then she tested them on a nine mile hike and they were perfectly comfortable. We were concerned they might be too hot in the California sun, but they weren't! I'm glad she will also be able to use them in the snow back east this winter since they are water resistant sorry I can't write a review about cold weather yet. BTW, my daughter has flat feet and they supported and cradled her feet perfectly. They are the best boots I want a pair for myself now!

After reading that others thought these boots were 1/2 size smaller than marked, I followed suit. I am glad I followed the advice of others. I was looking for a waterproof and lightweight hiker. These boots fit the bill. As other's have mentioned they are very comfortable right out of the box. I am very happy with my purchase. Today we hiked in beautiful Colorado. I was happy to be wearing my new awesome boots!

These boots withstood some serious walking and hiking. I went on a 21 day hike doing approximately 20-30 km a day. I wore two pairs of socks but suffered from extensive blisters. I received these shoes 6 months prior to the hike so they were broken in; however, right out of the box they were by far the most comfortable shoe I've ever had on my feet. I will chalk the blisters up to just a ridiculous amount of walking with no rest in between.

I loved these boots but I had to return them as they did not fit right with my orthodontics. The boot was just too tight. They were amazingly comfortable otherwise.

I really like these boots. My feet are finicky about shoes probably because I have flat feet. I usually wear a 10 but I bought the 10½ because I wear super thick wool socks with it. They fit great! I am very happy with my purchase.

These are the best boots in the whole wide world. If there were boots being sold in the galaxy, I'd say these would take top honors. I've bought boots before. All kinds. But none have fit right out of the box the way these have. They have grip to go up and down steep terrain. They stabilize my ankles like nobody's business. They're just so darn comfortable! Totally 100% worth the price! I got the reddish colored ones. And they are just nice. Sweet! Love them. I have flat wide feet and I always have to search high and low for the best reviews, well, I read the reviews for these boots and thought, okay, I'll give them a try. And so glad that I did. They're spendy but worth it!

I wanted a pair of day hikers, with ankle coverage, solid soles, not bulky and not too loud. These more than filled the bill because they're wonderfully comfortable with no break-in period required.

I tried a number of boots on. None felt right. As soon as I tried these, it was an easy decision. They're supportive but not so supportive they're stiff. I had wanted an all-leather pair but ended up really liking/wanting the purple! I've only worn them twice for average length hikes. They never got too hot or anything. They're not too heavy either.

I ordered several hiking boots from Zappos to try and these were by far the most comfortable and seem stylish to me, almost like a punk rock space boot. The black makes them go with everything and I've been wearing them for long walks as well as hiking, so I wanted something that looked nice. The shoes are super comfy and padded, the most comfortable out of the box and keep my feet from hurting much better than regular shoes. My feet are medium to wide and I feel there is plenty of room for my feet. The sole is removable too so if you need your own orthodox you can easily put them in, but I haven't needed to since they're so comfy! I've worn them once in the rain as well and noticed no wet feet. Probably couldn't stand in a puddle but I don't plan on that. They also seem not too heavy to walk in and my feet haven't gotten hot and sweaty despite walking in hot weather. Try these.

Best hiking boots I've ever had! Toe box is roomy enough, and can go more than 5-6 miles without any painful spot developing, as has always happened before. I put a very slim extra cushioning layer in (my feet are princess and pea about comfort). I know about eight other women who own this boot, and all of us are over the moon for it. The blue color gets dusty after a little use, but is very cool looking.

These boots are exactly what I wanted them to be. I regularly hike a strenuous trail and all of my previous hiking boots and shoes slipped all over the place and it really slowed me down. The traction on these is great and I found myself using footholds that wouldn't have been an option before. They re also incredibly comfortable, I didn't have to break them in at all. Honestly I'd consider wearing them all the time because of that. On top of it all, the style is great, and I'm so happy to have found pair of comfortable black hiking boots.

Love these boots. They were perfect for cold weather, snowy and muddy hiking. I purchased these in 8.5, I'm usually an 8. I wanted the extra room for thick socks and when feet swell on longer hikes. They are exactly a half size bigger. So I rated them "true to size."

I can't give these boots too much praise -- I love them! They cradle my wide feet in comfort -- no pinched toes anywhere! They feel true to size (I wear 9.5) I took them for a spin on a very steep trail near my home in the Colorado mountains to see how they would do going up and coming back down. They are delightfully lightweight (my old boots felt like lugging bowling balls). The tread gripped well, and they're flexible across the toe. Because these boots are tall, I was worried they might rub my ankle bones, but no problems there either--the soft, padded leather lining felt great. Going downhill, I could feel my toes touching the front, but no painful crunching, and this was a very steep downhill trail. These boots are super comfy, and adorable! My only teeny tiny beef is with the ridiculously flimsy foam insoles which I immediately replaced with gel insoles, and now I'm walking around in perfect heaven!

soft, light, and comfortable fit with rugged disposition, quality features, and protective style. cuff is comfy, laces pull tight, bottoms have good traction. a lil slippery on smooth wet surfaces, but helped me thru the wicked northeast snow storms. light enough, I'm considering wearing year round for rain storms.

Love. These. Boots. Found Ahnu on Zappos search and so glad I did. I needed something for an 8+ hour day of walking that is waterproof and multi-seasonal. These fit the bill! They are very light and they look great. My flat feet are happy.

These boots have gotten me to hike further that I ever thought I would. I have been using them for 1.5 years now and just ordered a backup pair so that I can continue to enjoy hiking comfortably. I love the light weight, the fact that they fit my wide feet and that they are waterproof. I followed others' recommendations and ordered a half size up (I am usually a 9) and that was perfect.

I bought these boots for when I walk my dog in the winter. They have performed perfectly. The fit is great and they look very nice (my feet look small and cute!) They keep my feet warm while walking on snow and ice and provide great support, especially for my ankles. I only wish they had a little more arch support, but they aren't really meant for running in either!

Love these boots! I bought them for a "forced march into the jungle" and I could not have been more pleased. I took the advice of many other reviewers and wore them everywhere for the two weeks preceding the Big Hike but I could have taken them out of the box the day of and still been completely comfortable. They are lightweight but durable and maybe most importantly there are no seams or bits inside to rub or press or otherwise cause discomfort. Ordered up a half size as also recommended by many hikers and while the smaller size fit, the larger size was perfect and allowed for a heavier sock. Five stars.
