I love Birkenstocks. This is my first time trying a "cold weather shoe". I have this lovely new plantar fascitis and needed some better shoes and I've been happily wearing Earth Shoes but I love the way Birks look. I guess I'm a strange one who thinks they are fabulous- very "boho chic". Anyway, I love these! I have never tried the soft footbed and I really like it!! I was worried that they would be floppy but they are not. I wasn't sure if I should get the model w/ the buckle on top to tighten. I may try those next though! Anyway, I wear an 8 in women's. I guess I'm a smaller 8. Sometimes a 7.5 will fit me but usually an 8. I would buy a wide shoe if available so the width of the regular birks works great for me. I think if you do have a rather narrow foot I'd get the narrow so they are more secure. My issue is that if they were a half size bigger, they might work better with really thick winter socks but a 39 is way too big. All my Birk sandals are 38s and these are fine in 38. My heel is very close to the edge but its perfectly comfortable. I can wear socks, just not super thick ones. I trust that the heel will mold even better to my foot as I break them in. My feet are pain free in these!

Simple basic wool clog...I love Haflinger grizzly's. So I bought these to try Birkenstocks version of the wool clog. I have Haflinger and also Stegmann wool shoes but these have I believe a better insole. I just got them 3 days ago and I haven't taken them off yet! I will definitely buy these shoes again. Gotta love Birkenstocks!

I purchased the Birkenstock Amsterdam to wear as a slipper at home, and it is perfect for that. The 41 narrow is ideal for my size 10 narrow feet, and the support is excellent for my high arches. Recommended!

These are like wearing house slippers. My fifth toe got broken and did not heal. These are one of three pairs of shoes that don't hurt my toe.

Love them - true to size, true to width for Birks (a medium is wide), easy to slip on with or without socks to run an errand or walk the dog. They required very little breaking in.

These are the perfect solution to my favorite pair of shoes! My first Birkenstocks were Myrin sandals, the best pair of shoes I've ever owned. Podiatrist told me that they will be what saves my feet from beginning onset of plantar fasciitis. Last fall I bought a pair of Birki's as a Crocs substitute, they were nice but you have to wear socks with them or your feet get to hot and sweaty. So this year I got these in hopes of not having to don socks...and they are absolutely perfect! Warm but breathable, I wear them everywhere including in the house like slippers!

This is the best Birki I have ever had. Because of the upper material being felt, it is much lighter than the leather clogs or even sandals. You almost do not feel them at all.

Love. I bought these to wear around the house since I was suffering from chronic plantar fasciitis (I work from home and used to spend hours barefoot each day). They were amazingly comfortable right from the start, and (I believe) one of the main reasons why my feet improved after months and months of pain.

Crocs have ruined clogs. Unfortunately, although I love Birks and the fit and comfort was excellent, I just couldn't get over how much they look like crocs and/or house slippers. I guess I'll stick with my sandals.

Nice Birkenstock quality. Sole is a little different than the usual sole - the design seems a little shallower. Bought these with the intention of wearing them as slippers, but the narrow is too narrow and the wool seems a bit tight. Made in Germany.

Great Birkenstock comfort. Not as bulky in appearance as typical Birkenstock. Very lightweight. The only problem is that after a couple of weeks of use, the heels are already showing signs of wear. Doesn't seem to be the standard, hard-wearing Birkenstock sole that I'm accustomed to. So, I've been wearing them around the house only. Pretty expensive house shoe, but I'm keeping them anyway.

One of the better looking Birkenstock styles. I liked that it had a wool top instead of leather. Unfortunately, even though the length was fine, it twisted when I walked and fell off my (narrowish) feet, even though I would have thought my high arches would have taken up the slack. Disappointed. I think they were trying to make this a unisex shoe, but should have just let the guys order wide. Might work with socks, but I wanted to wear without. Also, the lining was puzzling, didn't feel like real suede to me.

The footbed gives very good support to counteract my plantar fasciitis, and the toe bar fits into exactly the right place for me. The shoe is not too hot despite the appearance of its upper. Note: I wear a B width but needed the narrow width here, and though I wear a size 6.5 shoe, I needed the Birkenstock size corresponding to 5-5.5.

I had to get a size larger (there are no half sizes), but fits well, a little wider than my normal, but there was not the choice, but since I am using it as an indoor slipper, it is fine. The soft bed/ leather top version of this stayed true to size and the width was better. Perhaps the felt changed things? No matter, it is great. I have really ouchy plantar fasciitis heels and feet. Wearing these inside really help, since barefoot is too sensitive/ouchy for me at this point. Birkenstock makes a great shoe, I recommend them.

I absolutely love this shoe. People are surprised to learn that it's a Birkenstock. I like it for wearing in the winter with a thick pair of socks. It's a winter sandal. My only problem with it has been that my foot slipped out of it while stepping down from my house into my garage and I had a big fall. For someone who is concerned about falling a slip on shoe with a wedge in the back to keep your foot in would be a better choice.

Best investment I ever made. I'm standing a lot in my work and needed a comfortable shoe. Easy to slip off and on. Just great comfort.

Comfortable and easy to slide into. Size was just great! So nice that I took them on a weekend trip with us...

Despite previous comments that this ran narrow, for my narrow feet it was way too wide.

I so badly wanted to love these shoes. I have plantar fasciitis in both of my feet and read reviews about how good Birkenstock shoes were for helping with this condition. Sadly, these shoes were so narrow I could hardly fit my foot into them. Granted I do have a wider foot, but the information listed for the shoe said that the "narrow" fit would accomodate both narrow and regular width feet. I think this is an exaggeration. If you have a normal or slightly wider width foot, these are definitely not the shoes for you.

I had just ordered Birkenstock open-toe buckle sandels in this size and they fit great. Granted, I did slide the buckle to the smallest available hole but loved the fit. These on the other hand left my feet feeling as if they were swimming in the shoes. So ordered a size down with fingers crossed.

the material used for these is not what i would call quality... it is synthetic wool. polyester. it doesn't breathe or feel good. the shoe reminded me of an art project when i first received them...as if the entire thing was made out of paper... the foot bed is not suede as i am used to,but rather a material that feels like many layers of very soft smoothed out cardboard. i am guessing these are what people are calling vegan birkenstock. they are not the quality of the original suede and leather.... i suppose liking them is a matter of personal taste.

These fit well, but the uppers and the insole are synthetic. They are very hard underfoot, and not nearly as comfortable as they are cute. I am returning them as I cannot imagine wearing them for any length of time.

I have foot problems. I love the Birkenstock line. However, this shoe, for some reason, does not have the same level of support that the sandals have. It seems the arch is not as high and as solid as in the sandals, so I admit I am disappointed. I cannot wear these shoes all day without experiencing pain in my feet. The sandals, on the other hand, I can wear all day and have no foot pain. On that basis, I cannot recommend this shoe for people in my situation. I really need a good Winter shoe and wish I could figure out which shoe that would be.

Bought my usual size and had to go up a size. Runs small! Attractive, though.
