These boots are really well-made and very comfortable. The leather is nice, and I'm looking forward to getting that broken-in look. Some of the newer Frye's seem to be not as quality as the older ones, but these are definitely what you would expect from Frye.

I own four pairs of Frye boots (2x Engineer 12R, Billy Vintage, Veronica Combat), and none of them has ever disappointed me!!! Frye makes AWESOME boots!!! Didn't take long to break these in. They are very comfortable. The Black Stone Wash color is just AWESOME!!! Luv everything about this boot!

As a lifelong Frye girl, I wanted to add these to the collection, but felt guilty about another expensive purchase. I was lucky to get them on sale, and am so happy I made the splurge. Frye has given me happy feet, once again. They are well made, and feel great. I’m a hairstylist, and wear quality shoes and boots for long, healthy days on my feet. These will work with so many different styles.

I love these boots! At first, the leather was a little stiff but they fit like a glove. The more I wear them, the softer they get. They have not lost their shape and still look new.

Awesome shoe. Best of all they run narrow, and since I have narrow feet, here is a boot finally that I can wear as it is not too wide. (And yet it is still a medium for you ladies with a medium width foot). Beautifully made. Leather smells wonderful. I am wearing a medium thick sock with this. I did not have to buy a size smaller or larger, they are true to size. Maybe others needing a larger size may have a larger toe area or larger heels? I bought them in black in a 7 1/2. I may have to buy them in another color.

Well I read every review on these boots before buying them and the overall consensus was that they ran small. Some people went up a half size and others even a full size. I'm a true 8.5 so I went up a half size and bought the 9. They are a bit big. If you are going to wear them with just regular thin socks I would get your normal size. I am going to keep this pair of 9's but I will have to wear a thick pair of wool socks with them which is fine because it does get really cold in the Northeast during the winter months. I think they are just a bit too big for my regular thin socks. The quality is excellent. They are super comfortable right out of the box and will not require any break in period. I love the boots!

Just received these in the Black Stone Wash and they are beautiful! I am normally a 7 in Fryes (thin socks) and probably a 7.5 with regular socks. So I took my chances on an 8 based on another reviewer saying the 8 felt more like a 7. When I tried them on, they fit perfectly (with regular socks)! Even the length is good, which I was worried about. They do have a hug the foot fit. And while I can tell they aren't super comfy right off the bat, they will be. The leather is soft so I'm sure it will mold to my feet over time. Oh and mine are little bit more distressed then pictured in the image, but in a good way! Just the way I wanted them!

These boots have and continue to be my favorite shoes for about 2 years now. I'm just now getting to the point where I'm going to take them to a cobbler to be resoled. Everything has last exceptionally well. They fit true to size and can be tightened or worn more loosely depending on how tight you lace them. The leather is still doing great (I clean and oil them with saddle butter every few months). Especially considering that they are some of the less expensive Frye boots, they were worth every penny and then some! Highly recommended based on quality and aesthetics!

Comfy, cute, quirky. I gave only 4 stars for comfort because these are shoes that will need to be broken in. I only gave 4 for style because I wish the heel was just a tiny bit taller. I think the heel being taller would make them more feminine. These boots are worth the money. Even my husband looked them over and said they were worth the price. I think these will be permanent fixtures in my shoe wardrobe.

I was really impressed with how well this boot was made. Unbelievable quality for the price. However, it didn't work for me. My high instep made the lacing buckle going up toward the ankle. Had to return them.

Very cute, but I ended up returning these because the length of the shoe was right, but the toe box is extremely low so it irritated my toes when I wore them.

I have wanted this boot for years and I finally treated myself with them. I purchased the black soft vintage leather, in my normal size 8 and I felt like they fit true to size. They are very comfortable to wear - even without being broken in. However, I feel as though the leather isn't as supple as my other Frye boots and they feel somewhat cheaper. The boots I received are also not the same as pictured on the website. Zappos is a main seller of Frye boots and I've never questioned their authenticity until I ordered these boots. While they came in a Frye box, there was no Frye tag on the boot or in the box, the box had plain what tissue instead of the Frye branded tissue and the markings on the boot were different than those pictures - ie. the photos show a white tag sewn into the tongue of the boot, mine came in a printed "made in India". I contacted Zappos right away and the customer service rep was very helpful and offered to exchange them. Before we went through the trouble of doing that, I emailed Frye and asked about the markings and other details I felt were off. Frye did confirm they have updated this boot style. I talked to another customer rep a few days later to arrange my exchange and the rep came off as rude and unhelpful. I ended up with my exchange and these felt different - in a good way. The box came as it should with the all the proper tags and paper. So it would be great if Zappos updated their stock photos to show what boot you're really getting.

Good styling and well made like all Frye boots. The 'ankle leather' looked like it had some residual chemical (like subtle shiny flakes or scales) from whatever process they might have used to 'age' the leather - not noticeable enough to ruin look, but odd. I've seen other Frye boots with similar 'aged' leather that looked and felt great, but I didn't like the leather around the ankle of these boots. Rest of boot leather was fine. Fit: my feet run wide and I have a high arch (instep). I can wear size 7 Frye very comfortably, but this style seems to run narrow and way tight around the instep even with the lacing; my foot felt choked. The length was fine but I'm returning them. Love Frye boots though.

Have worn these shoes about 10 times. They look great with leggings/tights and a dress. My only complaint is that some of the stitching were the leather attaches is coming undone. For such a pricey well known brand I am surprised to see this happening so fast. Very comfortable and I love the way they look. I wear between an 8 1/2 and a 9. The 8 1/2 fits great with thin socks.

I dreamed about this boot as it was heading towards me through the mail. The reviews were a big selling point for me. These boots are not rugged or edgy enough for me. They are cut very feminine and narrow too. The scuffing on the toes are as pictured but as soon as I opened the box I knew they weren't what I had hoped. The toe box is cut too low and there is no way of putting even the slightest insole inside. I could feel it on my toes without the insole and I have small feet small toes . I wear a size 6 and I ordered the brown. I ordered Doc Martens Triumph 1914 and got exactly what I was wishing for.

I was so excited about these boots! I love Frye and own a few different pairs. But the quality with years has come down so much, especially since the company was sold out... This particular pair had a difference in the leather patterns which would be ok, BUT missing metal eyelet for the shoe lace is really not acceptable, especially for the company with such a good reputation like it USED TO BE... I'm returning this pair, of course!!!

I'm am extremely disappointed in the quality of Chocolate Veronica combat boots I have received over the last 10 days. I ratings I had to choose for this boot can't be applicable in the case of the Chocolate boots received. I've ordered the same boot twice in search of a decent pair. Both I received should've been rejected from Frye before leaving the factory. The first pair has a right upper shaft sewn twisted to forefoot, and the second pair are total disasters, buckled in forefoot from shaft sewn wrong to entire tongue-forefoot. I'm wondering if Frye uses the same cutting die and fixture for all Veronica boots. maybe an issue exists with production fixture used to sew the boots or it's repetitive operator error over long production run with no quality control working. Zappos looks at the boots they repackage after returns, so they should've definitely seen an issue with the second pair I received. I'm just terribly disappointed. Zappos did send out the second pair wicked fast to try and rectify quality with first pair, so I can't fault that. I'll call customer service first chance, with it being 12-23-2019. FYI, I own this Veronica combat in the black leather size 10, as well. It was and still is amazing. Mist comfortable boot I own. The black fit perfect Christmas of 2018 right out the box no break in period...walked for miles.

i hate to say this, but frye has let me down this time. i have four other pairs of fryes, and they are all stellar: well made, long-lasting (i walk A LOT), beautiful and stylish. not these boots. if i were to see these on the shelf and didn't know they were fryes, i would guess that they cost around $60. like, it's an okay boot - the leather is nice, the sole looks sturdy, but otherwise, it looks like a potato on your foot. no shaping, just a nice, fat oval sticking out of the bottom of the shaft. the pictures looked so nice!!! i know it's been a few years since these have been out, and it looks like they've made some changes: ~ there is no white frye label stitched onto the tongue. ~ no gold embossed label inside the heel. ~ no stamped brand on the outside of the tongue. ~ the logo on the sole is different. ~ there is no size marked anywhere, inside or outside; there was a cardboard inspection tag floating around in one boot with the size on it. ~ and finally, in the other boot, there was a cardboard label, with the logo for "ad-tec work boots". what??? and for those wondering about size, i know a lot of people said these run small but mine were too big. too long, and for my narrow foot, too wide. these are going back. i haven't given up on frye, but this was a real disappointment.

I really wanted red boots and already had these in black so I knew they would fit. I was so instantly disappointed when I opened the box and saw these pretty brown boots. They are not red. They're very pretty, but more brown than red. Now I realize what red clay looks like though.

Loved the look of the boots. Although they look more old than distressed. First day in boots caused horrible painful blisters. They were the right size. Maybe my socks were too thin. Idk. But I returned them immediately.

I should’ve known, only 1 pair left in stock and I knew immediately these had been worn and returned and not just once, these were worn, scuffed and broken in. Zappos, please don’t send out worn used shoes as new, especially when they cost $200. Thank you.

I wanted to not like these shoes, because they’re expensive and they look like military dress boots. But I couldn’t help it, I love them so I’m keeping them. They smell amazing so I know the leather is excellent quality, and they’re soft but tough. They shoes themselves are very comfortable and I like how they look with the laces only done up halfway and tied around the ankle.
