I purchased four pair of these for me and my crew this winter for doing snow and ice removal from roofs in every condition and well below freezing to rain one day and we all love these boots because there not only warm and dry but the rubber sole does very well on steep roofs. I ordered the Baffin Control Max. When the box was delivered promptly, as always from Zappos, these boots were literally falling apart out of the box. Several spots on one of the boot tongues where the seam stitching was missed and wasn't even attached to the boot. What? How could you miss that? No quality control? The gap was big enough that I noticed it looked suspicious before the boot was even out of the box. I am sending these back and going back to Sorels.

These were a great boot but I chose the nearly identical snow monster over these because of the closed lacing system versus the open laces. As with any Baffin boot with removable insulation order a full size or size and a half larger if you are sitting at a half size. Very warm for idle feet aka ice fishing. Overkill for going for walks around town. If you have larger calves the tundras may be a good call for you in that they seem as warm but lighter than these or the snow monsters. The tundras do not have sealable top. For walking around town I would recommend the Baffin Summit, very, very light weigh and comfortable just not recommended for idle feet aka ice fishing. After many years out in the cold in Minnesota, I finally found the best boots ever. My feet had always gotten cold while working in the bobcat outside in the winter for hours. The lack of movement while driving an unheated skid steer is a test for any boot. They are by far, the warmest things I have ever had on my feet. The lining is soft and forms around everything, even all the way around my toes. The arch is in the right place, my heal stays in place and they don't seem too bulky. The style isn't smashing but then, I wouldn't expect it to be in a boot of this type. The laces could be a little longer and I don't understand what the eyelet on the top of the toe is for and I can't find an answer to that anywhere. They are very well made, fit very well, are comfortable to stand and walk in. I would recommend these boots to anyone looking for a very warm and high quality boot. By the way, I am a woman and the size chart comparison was right on the mark.

I bought these boots for my husband and he loves them. We snow machine a lot and they are warm and comfortable. I was also impressed with Zappos shipping, I got them the exact day they said I would.

Mr. man says the boot is toasty not felt in a winter boot before. Rugged but cozy at the same time, worn too frequently this season. Light to wear with heavy duty traction.

Very nice boot; not as large as the Shackleton of the same size but my feet were just as warm;I thought I had on wool socks but I just had regular cotton socks! (Shackletons have a larger footprint& compared next to each other the Shackletons looked huge). The fit is good (I wear an 11 Nike and a 9 New Balance); I went with a 10. I like these tie laces way better than the Shackletons with the lace lock; but miss the snow collar. These Control Max really cinch-up well to hold my heel in place. Better than any other boot I tried (i.e. the Kamik Oslo). They look great too! The stitching looked good, no problems with loose or missed stitches! I do like the worn brown better than the black. Also the description I saw on Zappos says 7-layer inner boot system but the tag, from Baffin, on the boots say 8-layer. I know that these are made in China but they are made well as far as I can see. I guess if you need to make them water resistant you could use a waterproof spray on the seam and leather or mink oil on the leather! Good boot for the price! I tried 3 different boots before I made my choice!

My husband loves these boots - says that his feet have never been warmer. It was GREAT to receive the boots so quickly! Would highly recommend these boots.

We had a huge winter in Southwest Colorado this year and my last pair of boots were falling apart. These were a total game changer for me. My feet were never cold or uncomfortable even when walking through wet slush for a couple miles. I highly recommend them.
