I recently received these boots and I love them! They are so cute. They have a nice height which is functional in deep snow, which we have a lot of here at 5,000 ft. in Idaho. They have a sort of worn, vintage appeal to them and the stitching makes them very unique. A great boot if you are looking for both style and function. I was a bit concerned at first because I have a rather thin foot and had a lot of heel slippage. I decided to take my chances and wore them out for a two hour snow-shoe adventure and they were very comfortable. I am a size 9, ordered the 9's and I would say they were true-to-size. I also tried on an 8 but it was too short in the toes. To deal with the heel-slip, I added an insole and a thin sock under my thicker socks and it worked great. These boots had everything I was looking for and I have been looking for the perfect pair for over a year now. They are so warm and toasty and kept my feet bone-dry in three feet of snow, yay!

Best boots I have ever bought. They are warm, comfortable, fit my freakishly large calves, well made and are totally adorable. I wear a size 8 - 9 (depending on the width) and the size 8 fit me perfectly. I wish I lived somewhere colder so I could wear them every day.

I love these boots. I was really torn between these and the shorter version without the fur, and I am so happy I chose these. First, they are incredibly warm! I wore them for several hours at a tailgate in Minneapolis over Thanksgiving weekend, and wasn't the slightest bit cold, and everyone else was complaining about how the cold was coming up through their boots. Second, because they are tall, they keep more of your leg warm. Third, they pull on and off with incredible ease. I wore them through airport security and had no trouble whatsoever. Fourth, they are so cute and extremely well made. The material is great. I am not looking forward to another Chicago winter, but I am happy that these boots will help ease my pain! Some of the reviews said to order down a side and I did. I usually wear something between a 10 and 11 and I got the 10. I think it's a little big still, but it's a mega boot so it doesn't really matter.

I bought these for my wife as a birthday gift, and now she can't wait for some "real" cold, mucky winter weather to go out tromping all around. They fit nicely, though I was worried, as they didn't have half-sizes. I ordered the next size up and they are perfect with a pair of warm socks. They have a high quality feel and if they perform at all like the pair of Sorel's I have had for years, they will make the difference between a slog in the snow and slush and a fun romp in a winter wonderland, and so stylishly at that!

These boots are great. They are super comfortable and the wide width makes them great to wear with thick socks. The removable felt liner is pretty cool too.

I'm a happy girl. I'm 5'11", size 11 foot, and 48 years old. I'm very active. Live in the Rocky Mountains in snow more than not. I've spent about 2 weeks researching which boot I wanted to buy. Reviews helped immensely. I've seen every single boot available on the Internet. I wanted a boot that was both functional and stylish - not $500 apre's. I wanted a furry top, but a truly waterproof shoe. I think to mention a couple specifically - I was not open to Uggs because many people here say they don't last in the snow. I did not want a Sorel because they are traditionally bulky and anything but stylish. They are great for a specific snow/cold purpose, not for casual wear. Yet, after my research, I ended up with the Cate. Originally, I only planned on spending less than this. I thought that was plenty but I'm glad I was flexible. Okay, the bread and butter of the review: this is hard because these are 'snow boots' first. They are not a shoe. So, for a snow boot, they are both true to size and width but if you are talking about a shoe, then they are slightly larger both length and width. Size - perfect. Maybe a 1/4 larger than most 11's. Let's say it felt generous. A welcomed change. Width - comfortable. Height - great for a tall person. Hits slightly above the largest part of my calf. Plenty wide even laced up as tight as possible. Quality - amazing. Leather is better than expected. Leather tongue tends to be slightly too bulky. Making lacing up tightly difficult but I don't plan to wear these in deep snow. These would be great for people who have huge calves. Laces are very flexible for size variances. The ankle area is roomy, not able to make snug. Therefore, it may rub after walking a long time. Yet, it might break in further. So far, I've not had any physical irritation by this and I've only worn a thin nylon knee sock. My feet are traditionally cold. I wore these in 12 degrees twice and my feet were comfortably warm. Sorel is waking up to style. I'm grateful.

These boots are the best of all worlds; they are stylish, comfy, and completely warm on those snowy winter days. Sorel is a trusted company for winter protection and functionality, and now they have added style to the mix. I will say, however, that the toe area has limited up and down wiggle room so I might recommend getting a size larger than you would normally get in order to accommodate the layering of thick socks. However the wool lining does NOT require additional sock layering. The boots are good to well below freezing weather.

These are funky boots! One of the unique things about these boots is one boot has a white stripe and white sole. The other boot has a black stripe and black sole. They are both funky and warm!

This is a great boot! Fit is true to size and so far I feel that it will be sufficient to withstand a Minnesota winter. The comfort is great. I was most worried that the height of the boot would be too high. I don't feel that way any longer. It is wide enough at the top to accommodate tucking heavier pants and yet too high for snow to sneak in.

I bought these boots for the cold MN winters. I have a pair of the classic, Sorel Caribou boots -- which are wonderful as well -- but too wide to fit easily into my snow shoes. These boots are much narrower, and should fit perfectly! Sorels have always been great, functional, warm boots, and this one's super cute too! I'm excited to test out this latest pair!

Although winter hasn't hit here yet, so far they're great. I love the fact that they're waterproof, and the lacing allows you to wear them as tight or as loose as you like. A big plus when it's -30 out and you need to go into a store for an hour, you can loosen them so you don't sweat to death. They're very stylish for a product that's extremely functional. It's hard to look good when there's snow on the ground for 5 months, and this helps! They're also extremely light for how big they are. I'm hoping they'll be great for snowshoeing with the added height. Not much arch support, and you can surprisingly feel the ground beneath your feet quite well. We'll see how that pans out for the winter.

I love these boots, they make me almost pray for snow. I love the gray color and the little bit of fur peeking out around the top and I know they are going to be super warm.

Oh yeah! This is my first pair of Sorel boots, and I'm so glad I invested. Although it's only September so I haven't been able to 'test drive' them yet in snow or rain, just wearing them indoors, my feet were toasty after a few minutes. I was surprised at how light and flexible they are! They look a bit heavy and clunky, but they're not at all! They fit my medium width size 12 feet perfectly. And even better, they're very cute! I'm so happy with my boots! So sorry for all you size 12 ladies that they're sold out - hopefully they'll get more in.

These boots are awesome! I originally purchased the Joan of Arctic boots, but I found that they were too wide and not tall enough for my liking. These are taller, narrower, and much more comfortable. I am a true 8.5 and the 8 fits fine with both regular or heavy socks. My only complaint is that the boot presses down on the top of your foot at the point where the rubber toe part meets the leather (by the top of the laces). I'm hoping that with more wear, the footbed will flatten down and won't bother the top of my foot as much. These kept me warm and dry during a blizzard, as well as cozy comfy when walking through slushy parking lots. They look awesome with jeans or leggings tucked in. I receive tons of compliments when I wear them.

I love these boots! I totally got the weird tightness on the top of my foot that another reviewer mentioned, so I sent them back and got the bigger size. These definitely feel a bit big, but 10.5 wasn't offered. But here's the important part - they fit my big fat calves! No, not "athletic," fat. And not just barely fit, but with pants tucked in! (All the big girls are smiling.) My calves are at least 16 inches around, these boots rock and are cute!

I just received my boots. I wore them once on a test run. I live in Chicago and it is cold here. I thought they were a little too bulky to justify wearing them without snow on the ground. However, they were very warm. I am just waiting on the snow to come so I can wear them out more. I like them a lot. I wear a 12 so they seem like they look big on me, per someone's previous message. During my test run I tried to see if other people were looking at me strangely in the grocery store and no one really looked at me weirdly. So I think they are keepers. They are worth the money.

I have to send these back. Although they fit well on my foot, they are so wide and the boot is so heavy that my foot slides almost completely out of the boot, so matter how tight I tied the laces. Just ordered the snow angel lace, hopefully those will work out better.

Loved the boot, but it's too small. I'm a 6 1/2 - and because of the reviews I ordered down, but should have ordered up. Much nicer looking than other snow boots, but the fit was tough for me. Zappos gets high marks though. When I called customer service, they didn't have size 7, but were willing to call other vendors to find it! I'll definitely shop with Zappos again.

I really like these boots and they keep me super warm. I still have a hard time believing they will be 100% waterproof like a pair of rainboots, so I avoid deep puddles and things when walking, but as far as I can tell, my feet never get wet in them. (Even through feet of crazy NYC snow!) I'm one of the unfortunates who had to really work to break the boots in. The ankle areas were particularly rough for me, but after a few weeks, they are now comfy and great! I also really like the lace-up style, as I can get a constant custom fit. It seems that the brown boots come a bit taller than the black. A friend of mine has the black boots and hers are significantly shorter. It could be a size discrepancy, as I ordered a 7 and she ordered a 6. Her boots measure about 13 inches and mine measure about 15 inches. These boots are definitely not as dainty as I thought they would be. They are a heavy-duty boot, much wider and more substantial than they may seem as pictured. That being said, they look very nice and well put together for a winter boot (when the other options are considered). They will keep you warm and dry and you'll look as stylish as possible while still getting all that done.

I was looking forward to upgrading my winter boots after decades of being in the same ones. I've been a Sorel boot fan for many decades, warm, keep you dry, able to trudge through deep snow. I was wanting something taller and a little more stylish than what I'd been wearing, and Cate the Great seemed to fit the bill. It is definitely a super warm, good looking functional boot. I love the look and have gotten many compliments on them. They are nice and high (over my calf) and with the winter we've been having in the northeast this year, I got them just in time. The foot is the good old trusted Sorel thick rubber that stays dry no matter what. It is extremely functional, but perhaps a bit clunky looking for the stylish upper. I am a size 9 shoe (solidly), so I got a size 9 boot. I tried them on and they fit fine, but I must say now that I've been wearing them a few weeks, I feel like they are just a tad oversized. they also don't lace very snugly at the base of the boot (where the suede meets the rubber) and as a result there is a bit of a sag in the heel that can irritate my heel if I'm out for a long walk. I wore them snowshoeing one day and was pretty uncomfortable in my upper heel by the time I got back. I've tried to lace them up good and tight to try to minimize this loose, sagging effect, but I can't seem to get those first couple of laces to tighten up. I do think I should have perhaps gone a half size smaller to try to eliminate this effect, but I'd already worn them outside and figured it's too late now. None of the reviews I'd read mentioned going a half size smaller, so I went with what I normally wear. They were expensive too, so I won't be replacing them any time soon. They'll keep me dry and warm, which is great, but I won't feel that cozy feeling when I put them on knowing I have to work on getting them laced just so to minimize the sagging upper heel to avoid irritating my heel. Too bad, because otherwise they're a great boot!

This is a really cute winter boot! I have been looking for a couple of years for something warm, comfortable, fairly stylish, and tall enough to be able to tuck my pants into to keep them dry. For the most part, this fits the bill. The laces provide a custom fit and are quite easy to lace. I wear a size 8, bought an 8, and it fits perfectly with different weights of socks. I tend to find shoes and boots slip too much but this one doesn't. I have worn the boot now in deep snow and my feet (and pants) stayed completely dry. Only complaint is that they aren't as warm as I had hoped, but I do have cold feet so I might be a hopeless case. One other downside is that you can't wear a pant leg over this boot, but the fur at the top was just too cute to resist. The leather upper is very flexible and I find I have full range of motion even though the boot is tall. Minor discomfort in the ankle area where the horizontal and vertical parts of the boot meet, but I have found this only when I am moving in somewhat awkward positions. Was torn between this and the Timberland EarthKeepers Mount Holly Tall Lace Duck boot -- the Timberland felt warmer in my house, was comfortable in my house, was a little shorter (could possible wear boot cut pants over the boot), but just didn't have the same style factor going for it. Overall Cate the Great is a great boot!
