Purchased this for my 11th grade daughter for school. So far working out really well to schlep her books binders and a laptop to school each day. The bottle holders on the side are working out as well. I know she'll use the outside bungee for jackets. Like the phone/wallet pocket at top. I stuffed a sandwich in the front pocket this AM as she headed out the door!

Amazed at how much I can carry in this backpack! I have a 15.6" laptop, a textbook, notebooks, binders, chargers, a kindle, and an assortment of pens and pencils in this backpack and it doesn't strain my back at all! The chest strap really helps secure it all when I'm out and about. I really like the color (Camp Green) and the red detailing for the zipper/logo. Would definitely recommend to a friend if they had the money.

I purchased a 32L chacabuco backpack in 2012 after much research. I was looking for a backpack to get me through law school, and this bag did. After three years of hauling large and heavy law textbooks, it shows nearly no signs of wear (the elastic on the side pockets are a little bit stretched, but that's because i would try to fit a large water bottle and a glass bottle of juice in there). I was impressed by how much space the main pocket provides, as it can fit several average sized text books, and a lap top. Overall, I highly recommend this for students.

Great bag for commuting or as a carry on in an airplane. I use it to tote my laptop and lunch back and forth to work. Very comfortable.

This bag is so abused by my high school daughter yet after a year still looks great and has held up. It's too far to walk to her locker so she carriers most of her books and a laptop in it all day. My husband recently borrowed it on an overseas trip to rural Asia and now wants one for himself, I bought his today. (Needless to say she was happy to have it back.) He's gone through a few briefcases and they're so heavy, this one holds more and is lighter weight.

Very good pack for daily use or travel. Slim profile for daily use but you can cram a ton of extra stuff for longer trips in the main pockets.

I am an engineer working in the oilfields, and I love this backpack! It is very roomy for everything I need to bring out to a rig including a computer, extra clothes, and all necessary items for my job. I find this very comfortable as well. Took no time at all to break in.

Best back pack ever. Love the sunglasses soft lined zippered pocket on top and the organization overall. Love the whistle built into the front snap. Ladies can always use a safety whistle. Love the hip belt that eases the weight of the pack on my back. I've had this pack for a year now, overstuffed it to death and it's still in like new shape.

Purchased for our son at college. Said it is "the best back pack in the world." Abundance of room and pockets.

I own this bag and I use it as my carry-on for air travel, in my RV, sail boat, hiking etc. I sometimes pack it so full during flights that you can't squeeze an extra item in and I carry all of the heavy stuff in it. So far it has not torn or stretched or anything, it's PERFECT! I love that I can tuck my coat easily under the bungee cord or under the bottom straps and all of the easy access pockets especially the no-scratch-sunglasses or electronic item pouch on top. It fits my lap top too. I did have my water bottle fall out of the side pocket once when I bent over, but I linked one of the side compression straps through the bottle lid and no more falling out. Overall this is the best organized and best quality backpack that I've ever seen plus it's super trendy and colorful.

Perfect backpack! Taken up a few mountains on day hikes so far. Fit is great. Size perfect. Love all the pockets, color and overall functionality. Ability to put Camelbak into inner pocket sleeve (laptop sleeve) and run through to front is so great. Well worth it!

I exchanged this backpack for a smaller Patagonia Refugio pack because I felt it was too big and cumbersome for what I wanted it for. If you are looking for a backpack that will fit a lot, a lot of stuff including your laptop, this is a good bag. I really liked the color and the material. Excited to see what the smaller pack is like and hope that one works out.

I purchased this as a gift for someone, and he loved it! The colors are true to the photos, and the design incorporates just enough zippers and handy pockets. The person I gave it to is about 6'3" and the size fits him well (although I wanted to keep it for myself and it'd fit me too even though I'm 5'5"). He will be using it for his upcoming junior year in college but also likes that it could be a travel/camping backpack. Overall, great buy! North Face and Patagonia are neck and neck for me as far as quality, but I like this backpack slightly better than my own 2010ish North Face Big Shot because it's not overdesigned.

First of all, let me tell you what my intent was for this backpack. I needed an organized day pack to carry clothes and necessities on a trip in Africa. I needed something comfortable, lightweight, durable, and expandable. With temps well above 100 degrees Fahrenheit, I couldn't get anything that would turn my back into a pool of sweat. This backpack fit my needs perfectly. And, really loved the look of this backpack. Also, I am 5'8", 160 lbs with a stocky build. Pros: 1. There is ample organization for all supplies -- big and small. 2. When you have a small load, the pack can be synched up. For a large load, the max capacity allows for anything you need on a day trip. 3. The small pockets on top are great for items that are frequently used. 4. The side pockets are very big. Perfect fit for a Nalgene bottle, but possibly too small for a snug fit with a regular water bottle. Con (only one): The straps are not made well. 1. They are much too close together at the neck line. With any medium to heavy weight, the straps are forced into your neck. If you have any semblance of traps on your shoulders, the pressure is even more uncomfortable. 2. The foam inside the straps is extremely stiff. It does not compact to accommodate extra weight, and it does not flex to contour to the anatomy of your neck line. Again, the more weight, the worse it is. 3. Most likely due to the above issues, the straps tend to roll outward because of the lack of elasticity. With any moderate weight, they dig into the shoulders on the outside edge of the straps, intensifying the level of discomfort. It is such a shame that many, many great features are rendered useless because of one extremely poor design aspect. I would not recommend buying this backpack. As a side note...I bought the North Face Borealis at the same time so I could compare them with various amounts of weight inside. Although the Borealis is more of a trendy school backpack, the comfort makes up for the lack of functionality. Hopefully Patagonia will take some notes.

I really wanted to like this bag. The colors are magnificent! The shoulder straps are too close together at the neck, however, which make it unbearably uncomfortable. I tried so hard to overlook the pinching neck, but like I need more stress in my life!

I really wanted to like this pack. But the shoulder straps were just so uncomfortable that I couldn't risk using it and hating it, especially not for a pack at this price. I tried to convince myself that the straps would become less stiff when the pack was stuffed, but even empty, my neck was extremely uncomfortable and chafed by the stiff and scratchy straps. I really expect more out of Patagonia. A better bet would be North Face, whose straps actually conform to your shoulders and neck. Very disappointed.

I tried 4 different Patagonia day packs and the straps are so uncomfortable on the neck area, it is unbearable. I've had a Patagonia pack for years and decided it was time for a new one. I don't know what has happened with the design but I don't see how anyone can say the straps don't rub your neck raw within 10 minutes. Very disappointed!
