The day my Atacama pack arrived, I needed it as a carry-on for a 5 day trip. I loaded my 16 inch laptop into the laptop sleeve, then dropped my very large toiletries bag into the bottom, along with my laptop charger, phone charger, iPad, wireless mouse, deodorant, various pens and other small items, a pair of sunglasses in the microfiber-lined pocket, and an 800-page book. I still had a little room to spare. It ended up pouring on me as I was walking downtown Chicago that night. The water-resistant pack was Seriously water-resistant; nothing got wet at all and the rain just beaded up on the fabric and wiped right off. The sternum and belt straps really helped to distribute the weight of the pack (it was about 30 pounds) evenly across my shoulders and back, so that made it a lot easier to carry over a number of hours. I bought the ginkgo green color, and it looks exactly as pictured on Zappos. Very bright and colorful. Oh yeah, last thing. I ordered it at 6:30 pm central time, and it arrived on my doorstep at 3 pm the next day. Incredible.

The backpack is awesome. The straps keeps it nice and tight as possible. And the size is perfect, around the mid range side: not too big not too small.

Bought for a college senior. Recently took it on a music festival camping trip where it rained the entire time. He told me he was the only one with everything in the backpack completely dry after three days of wearing it in the rain.

I love this backpack. It had everything I was looking for, the dual water holders on the side were a must for me. There are lots of little storage areas.

I'm headed to Macchu Pichu and needed a day bag. I was also looking at Dakine bags too but decided on this one. It was lighter, held a lot more stuff, the external side pockets fit my water bottle. Also the shoulder straps and backing of the pack are mesh and therefore more breathable as I sweat on the hike. Plus I like the color combo.

Great Backpack. Plenty of space and great pockets for organization. Padded straps help keep pressure off your shoulders.

My Grandson, for whom I bought this backpack, really loves it. He says it is so versatile and truly comfortable to wear because of its unique straps.

This bag is super light so you don't feel like you're hauling more than you need. This pack could use one more pocket on the outside for better organizing. If you use the outer pocket as intended (to separate wet gear), anything like a wallet just needs to get dumped into the main pocket. Trade offs, though, and I appreciate the light weight more than the missing pocket.

Very roomy, exactly as described by other users. The only thing I would change about it is to make the side pockets a bit tighter. It feels like my umbrella is going to fall out.

This pack is great. I camp, hike and I'm about to start grad school, so I was looking for a very versatile backpack. I live in Michigan so I use the outside straps to strap my large coat or whatever else I don't feel like wearing to my pack so I don't have to worry about it while in class. There are two large side pockets for water bottles, but I can easily store my gloves, hat and scarf in just one. One problem is that the dry bag storage fills inward instead of outward and takes up space instead of adding it, which can make it hard to access some of those items in the larger pocket if the dry bag is full. Overall though, I love it.

I love this back pack. The picture looks exactly like the actual backpack. It has plenty of pockets to store all my nick nacks and has ample space for books and my computer. The only down side is that the belt strap is always in my way or rubbing on my legs.

Overall good pack, pretty versatile but would have liked more pockets. I bike in SF so needed a waterproof pack! It's a nice design overall and somewhat stylish.

I've used this backpack for camping trips and school, and it makes the transition wonderfully. The integrated wet-pocket for damp clothes and swimwear has been a much used feature, a bit surprisingly. After taking it to the beach and on hikes, it is one of those things you never realized you needed. Aside from the waterproof pocket, the pack is a perfect size for the day, and has enough pockets for water bottles, a phone, wallet, keys, and laptop/tablet. I use the straps across the front to secure my flip flops, and a couple of carabiners add extra functionality. Great backpack, will buy Patagonia again.

Great little bag, I should note that while it's probably great in the outdoors I primarily use it in the urban arena. It has all the features you'd expect, the waterproof front pocket is great for swim trunks after the gym. The center pocket with organizer is large and well thought out. My only complaint is the top pocket for sunglasses (microfiber lined and everything) while a fantastic idea has now led to the breakage of 2 pairs of glasses... The positioning of the pocket is right on top of the center compartment and when you lay the pack down anything in there slides straight up into the sunglasses pocket. A great idea that just doesn't quite work, my glasses remain in my coat pocket.

I bought this as a gift, to replace another broken strapped backpack. While browsing online for something with a laptop holder, with a day-pack look, this particular style really stood out. Patagonia is an amazing brand, and while I had some initial worry about the placement of the small inner pockets, I was completely reassured once the package arrived. Needless to say, the gift was a success! I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good hiking pack, or for school supplies. Light, comfortable, and stylish.

A nice bag. Computer compartment is a little difficult to use, but if you're not worried about quick access it's not a problem.

I'm a big fan of this pack. Bought it to carry my 15 in. work laptop - there is even some leftover space in the computer sleeve after the laptop is in. I also like the small interior pockets in the computer compartment - perfect for my wallet, a PDA, pens, and headphones. The outer main pocket is also great - waterproofing between that pocket and the computer pocket, but also vented to the outside to allow a rain jacket to dry. My one complaint is that the waist belt is slightly too small for me. I have a 36 in. waistline, and the strap does not come around all the way...the chest strap does, however (just barely). The water bottle pockets are well-sized for 1 L bottles. Overall, I would recommend the pack, and would suggest similarly-sized people look into a larger option.

I tried 4 different Patagonia day packs and the straps are so uncomfortable on the neck area, it is unbearable. I've had a Patagonia pack for years and decided it was time for a new one. I don't know what has happened with the design but I don't see how anyone can say the straps don't rub your neck raw within 10 minutes. Very disappointed!
