My daughter loves this pack! It is the perfect size for college to carry her 15" laptop and still have room for a book or two. Well made and sturdy.

Patagonia products are great so when shopping for a backpack I was only looking at Patagonia. I chose this one because it's smaller and thought it would be handier for work. However, I ended up returning it and got the Refugio 28L instead. I did not like the large outside pocket that has no way of closing. It's deep, but I was afraid anything I put in there would fall out and/or get wet in the rain. The pencil (and other) organizing pockets are on the inside of main flap and while I thought this would be okay originally, it means that every time you open the pack, anything you have in those pockets will be in the way of getting your stuff out. The Refugios organizing pockets are in a completely separate compartment. The Refugio also has an across the chest strap which makes it more comfortable when carrying heavier loads. The size difference in the two packs (22 vs 28L) is not that noticeable, but the Yerba does have cleaner lines. Zappos service made is terrific to purchase both packs, see which one I preferred, and then send the other back.

I've only had it for a short time, and only time will tell if it will stand up over time. For now, though, I love it. It's compact, but roomy enough to store my 13-inch MacBook Pro with a few other books and peripherals. It's very water-resistant, and I love the deep pocket in the front of the bag. If you aren't into messenger bags and want a backpack for your computer, then I say "buy!"

This is a great backpack. I got it in black and use it to commute and transport my laptop and small purse. I like the big open pocket on the back -- easy to grab my cell phone or keys from there. And I like that I can reach into the two small side exterior pockets while wearing the pack. This suits my purposes wonderfully. At first, I was worried that shoulder straps were spaced too closely together. But after using it for a month or so, that hasn't been a problem at all. It isn't a huge backpack, but I like that it's not bulky. Truly a day pack.

Love it, just like my earlier larger P-pack.
One complaint is the strange outer pocket, holds a newspaper but seems like a waste -- I'd rather something that was stretchy and had closure (what happens in the rain?).
Small problem is just that the color is a little bold for casual professional use. But the design, weight and construction are terrific.

This Patagonia pack has a place for everything. It's perfect for carrying a textbook, binder, & planner during the week or camping supplies for the weekend. A definite thumbs up from me. Great pack at an unbeatable price.

This was a nice backpack overall. The color was just right and it was comfortable to wear. My only problem with it is that even though it was made to fit a 17" laptop, when I put in my laptop it was just a little tight and it was slightly difficult to zip it. Other than that, I was very satisfied with this backpack.

Love this backpack! I prefer daypacks as opposed to carrying a purse and totes and extra bags for my daily commute and this is just perfect -- fits everything, my necessities, workout wear, fitness shoes and my lunch...and it's not bulky! It's great for work and weekend/short travels as well. I love the sleek and classy (at least for a backpack!) style. I bought the black and love it. Inside you have enough secured compartments for your cards, cash, phone, etc., especially the little zip compartment at the very top. It's comfortable on my back and on my shoulders. Another great thing is the price. This is quality stuff -- the zippers, inside pockets and compartments and straps are sturdy.

Let me preface this review with some background info. I'm a medical student who needed a day pack to carry around my 15" laptop, a textbook or two, a water bottle, and a binder. I knew I didn't want a bulky bag. I decided on this Patagonia Yerba pack and I'm not disappointed. It comfortably fits everything I need it for. It makes what I carry actually feel lighter. Zappos was great, I received my book bag the next day even though I opted for regular shipping. Five stars all around.(If you're looking for a pack to carry much more than what I described I use it for I would opt for something a bit larger.)

This is a nice backpack, seems well-made, well-designed, with efficient use of space. Unfortunately it's too small for my purposes (travel and day hikes in cold climates), and the water-bottle pockets on the sides aren't secure enough for my tall bottles. Thanks to Zappos I was able to order a slightly bigger pack (the "Mate") and return this one.

Good Medium size choice, looks dressy and functions well as a mixed use pack. I've never regretted the purchase of a Patagonia product and this pack reinforces my faith in their product line.

This backpack rocks. It has tons of storage and places to put stuff, and is really comfortable. It has given me zero problems, and is really high quality. I will most likely be using it all four years of college. Definitely good value, quality, and cute too.

Bought this as a gift for my husband. A friend recommended Patagonia products as long lasting and very high quality. It is perfect for a day hike, has lots of pockets to put things like a water bottle, sun screen, and room for a light jacket if the air should turn chilly. The fabric feels strong, but the bag itself feels light.

The straps on this backpack are very supportive. They actually make what I'm carrying feel lighter. The only thing is I just wish that the backpack was a little larger.

Awesome backpack! I could tell that it was really well-made and durable. I did end up sending it back to get the Fuego, because it was smaller than I realized. I only had one little complaint about the placement of the organizer being where it was, because when I would open my backpack, the organizer part was heavy because of the things in it, and wanted to flop down, almost dumping the things out of the pockets. The Fuego doesn't have that problem, since it has a separate inside pocket for the organizer.

A high-quality pack, just like most Patagonia products. It has nice, thick cushioning on the straps, laptop pocket, and in a few other places. Comfortable, though the straps are slightly narrow. My last Patagonia pack had a laptop compartment that had openings on the bottom corners and let my laptop get scratched in the pack; this one has full stitched protection all around the compartment, a big improvement. The open front pocket is the most useful feature I've ever seen on a pack. Laptop compartment is lined in the same nylon as the rest of the pack, so it's not the softest surface, but the padding is thick. Very high quality pack; though on the small side. Comfortably fits a 13" MacBook, a few notebooks, and computer accessories. Water bottle pockets are the only negative...nice and flexible, but much too shallow; larger bottles like the Nalgene or Klean Kanteen 1-liters tend to fall out if the bag isn't upright (like when tossed in the back of my car). Deeper pockets next time!

I am not sure if the other buyers compared this bag to other laptop bags. I ordered five from Zappos and two from Amazon. This is a great style and had good pockets and storage areas, but the most important thing, is that it was not comfortable. The part where the two backpack straps connect to the top of the bag is too narrow, so when wearing it, it cuts into your neck and upper back area. It does not lie flat! If they made it wider I would take the bag. Good price point.

Love the bag. Good quality, subdued design. The only drawback is that there isn't a secure, zippered interior pocket. Not worthy of a star reduction though.

It is a great backpack for a college student such as myself. My Mac charger and a couple of pens fit perfectly in the top pocket. I like the front pocket because I can keep my smaller novels and planner in it for easy access. Overall this backpack is ideal for my lifestyle.

Very nice backpack. I've never used a backpack until I bought this one. I recently went back to school and needed something that would carry my purse stuff and my books to work. This bag is perfect for that. There is a deep pocket in the front that is hard to see in the pictures that comes in really handy. The side pockets are a good size too. The inside fits a couple of notebooks and books and my wallet and a lot of other miscellaneous things (hairbrush, make up, etc). It has a section for storage with different pockets to help organize things. I haven't tried fitting my laptop in there but I'm sure it would work but I would have to take out a book or notebook which is okay with me. I have a bad back and find this bag to be very comfortable. I had considered getting the Refugio but was afraid it would be too big. I'm 5'4 and this bag is just right. Zappos service was excellent as always. I hit the place order button and the bag flew in through my window. Just kidding. I'm pretty sure Zappos will figure out a way to do that one day though. Great bag, great service. Couldn't be happier. Thanks Zappos.

I bought this backpack for when I start college in the fall. I love the size of it (I am 5'4" and it is the perfect size) and the straps are really padded so that is a plus! It is really well made. I am very excited to start using it!

This is the best backpack I have ever owned. I am both a college student and a cyclist and this performs perfectly for both, it's great to lug everything I need around campus and it holds all the essentials for biking to the store. I wanted a backpack that was small and light enough to simply carry around the essentials and I managed to pack 5 notebooks, 2 books, my 15" laptop, a pen, 2 pencils, a highlighter, and an eraser into this beast of a backpack. I also have a water bottle in the side pouch and an umbrella in the front pouch. Definitely recommend.

I bought Patagonia Yerba Packs in black and orange for my two boys, after a long research. These backpacks are perfect for my elementary school aged kids (grades 3 and K). These back packs do not look too big, but have ample room (can fit a binder, 2 textbooks, 2-3 notebooks, pencil case and a lunch bag/jacket), have lots of divided compartments (IDs, wallets, glass cases) as well as closed straps if you want to clasp a lunch bag or jacket. It also has a nifty zipped compartment on top and an open pouch in the front for newspapers/books and etc. Most importantly, the bag provided a well padded straps for good back support and a handle if you want to carry it instead.
