This is my second pair and I've now worn them about 12 hours, including a quick jaunt up the Horsetooth Mountain Trail in Colorado. Shifting production from Italy to Romania doesn't seem to have hurt quality. Maybe the opposite: the odd feeling in the first pair that the sole and upper were slightly misaligned has gone away. (I'm pretty sure I read that about Romania somewhere, though I can't find an origin label in the boot. It certainly doesn't say Made in Italy anymore.) Ankle support remains excellent. I would only caution a buyer to be sure you've got good socks because there isn't any ventilation in these boots: once your feet are in, they're committed.

I am recovering from an ankle injury and walked 6 miles with no pain, so I can vouch for the ankle support. Oddly the entire shoe feels about a millimeter off-kilter and I can feel the inner edge of the insole on my instep. Perhaps this will clear up with breaking-in. But overall I am happy to find a moderately priced Italian boot to replace the 25-year-old Italian boots that I did not want to give up.

The shoe in the photo looks lighter in color than what we received.

Great first impression. However, after a few days of wear I began to have a regular pain on the bottom of my heel. I eventually discovered these shoes have a hard plastic rivet-type connector (2 flat plastic heads inside the shoe approx 1cm in diameter) that must help connect the shoe to its sole. These are placed in bad spots - at the heel and ball of your foot. Bummer...thought they were going to be great shoes for my skinny feet.
