These are great boots...if you have wide feet. As for us narrow-footed folks, I've worn other brands that are much more comfortable.
I'd also recommend:

Rubs the back of my Achilles’ tendon, and ankles a little bit, may keep and wear in house for a few days, as I really need hiking sneaks, these are superbly comfortable otherwise, really hoping they aren’t blister makers on the back of my foot/leg! Very supportive without being intrusive

Bought these about 6 months ago and the fake leather around the toe is now pealing off and my feet now get wet while working also the rubber toe kick guard thing is also become detached. I loved the shoe just wish it was all leather I hate to be throwing away the shoes when all the real leather is still in great shape it's just the fake material around the toe that is terrible. Does not stand up to heavy use.

I purchased my third pair size 12 D after wearing out my previous ones. This pair is much too wide. I didn't realize it at first. But now they are broke in and not comfortable because they are so wide. My foot is a 12 D, borderline EE. These boots are so wide I cannot lace them tight enough. Not happy because these shoes were a waste of money. No D wide shoe should be this wide.

I spend 5 years and over 2000 miles hiking in the Smoky Mountains wearing these boots. They never let me down. I've worn many other brands before, none have performed like these. From rocky trails, to water crossings, these boots where made to go hiking. The only limitation for these is snow and ice. The tread is not made for those trails. After 5 years and hiking almost every trail in the Smoky Mountain National Park, I'm wondering when, or if, they ever fail.

I am a big guy (6', 260 pounds) and after almost three years of constant use, logging three to five miles a day per shift, I finally need another pair. They fit perfectly (11½W) and required absolutely no break-in and I would recommend these boots to anyone. My only problem is; you can buy them online directly from Ariat for less. So why are they more expensive from Zappos? I am a long time VIP Zappos customer.

My husband is a professional horse trainer. He's always worn Ariats (our whole family does) and switched to the Terrain after a knee surgery when his other favorite Ariats hurt his knee. This is at least his 5th pair of Terrains. They always last at least a year under his normal use and care (leather conditioner, etc.). But the last pair he had only lasted 10 months. Now his current pair isn't even 3 months old and literally falling apart! The black toe cap is ripping/ peeling off on both boots, both the inside and outside of the boot. They look like they're 10 years old! They must have changed the material they are using for the toe reinforcement. So disappointing. He's afraid to order another pair and is looking at other brands. Ariat has always been top quality, but clearly not anymore as I see other commenters having the same issues. I've attached pictures along with a picture of the tread that shows these are new boots...there's not even any wear on the soles!

Bought these boots less than two months ago and the seam around the toe has split apart on both of them. Regular, indoor use. No water exposure. Looking at reviews, this seems to be a known issue that has not been fixed. Outside the return window, so money wasted. I've owned three pair of Ariat western boots that have lasted years. These boots were not nearly the same quality.

I purchased a pair of these boots years ago, they lasted 15 years, I loved them. Purchased a new pair and within a month the material at the top was peeling off. So disappointed. What has happened to ariat's quality??? I will never purchase ariats again. Not well I recommend them.

Great pair of boots. Fit well and look great. Upgraded foot bed due to foot issues. Easy on and off. Lace up very quickly and breathe well. Bought these boots based on other reviews and happy with my decision. Very good construction real sturdy and not real heavy. Would recommend purchasing.

They restored my faith in this company, as they stood behind their products. I had a pair of boots that showed signs of strange wear and I contacted the company, regarding the possible defect in materials. They replaced the boots and these do not show any of the troubles I was having with the other pair. I hope these last as long as my first pair, that I still have, I will be donating them to goodwill, as they are in good condition.

I have purchased a lot of lace up boots to be not happy with the purchase. The Ariat Terrain is a light weight comfortable boot out of the box. I have enjoyed wearing these boots and would say they are the best lace up boots I have ever had. Fit is true to size of what you would wear in your normal pull on Ariat boots.

These are the most comfortable hiking boots I have ever worn. They are cushioned in all the right places and still support everywhere they need to. Even though I did not get waterproof or insulated they have kept my feet dry and comfortable while shoveling snow and walking my husky in the snow. When these wear out I will be buying another pair.

My wife likes how these look on me. I will be wearing them when we go out to dinner or just shopping at the grocery store. They feel comfortable and very supportive. They are much lighter than the waterproof ones I used to buy for work. I will probably buy these again and again.

I love the Terrain boots! I have both the regular & the waterproof versions. I have had several pairs over the years. I do a lot of trail work & I love a boot that is as comfortable to hike in as it is to ride in. I even keep a small pair of bumper spurs on them. Never lost one. I mostly use the regular ones as they breath better than the waterproof ones but it is nice to have the WP when I need them.

It seems like you have made some changes in the construction of the Terrain boots. I think they will last longer.
