Great Basic Boot - I wanted to love these boots, too. I had perfect outfits in mind before they even arrived. They are a timeless classic, for sure. But the boot is way big in the calf for me. I'm almost 5'9" and the height is great for me, but I have much more slack in the shaft than I should have for a boot with the circumference that is listed. I think these must be larger around than described. Foot part fit great, and ankles are a little roomy, but don't buckle or anything. Not flattering on me overall. Looked horrible with the skirts I tried on. Sadly, they go back.

Love the style of the boot. The two tone makes it that much more versatile. Bought it for skinny pants and it just makes the look at that more sophisticated. The fact that it has a rubber sole means that it can go the distance for a day in the city. A great way to get a look without spending a ton of money.

When I received these boots and I opened the box my initial instinct was that I didn't like them. I bought the black/brown two-tone, and although I like the idea (color isn't the issue) the shape of the boot itself is the problem. Here's the deal: they are just okay. I know you don't want to read that, I didn't either when I read the reviews, but it's the truth. I paid $114 sale price for them, and the price is great, but you get what you pay for. There's nothing wrong with the boot, but there's nothing great either and when a boot is the biggest part of the outfit (usually riding boots are b/c we tuck in our jeans or wear leggings) the boot needs to be beautiful since it's making such a statement. Before I sent them back, I tried them on a few more times with different outfits, took a few pictures and came to the same conclusion that a higher quality and style boot is needed. I hope this review is helpful, and of course this is just my opinion, but it's an honest (and stylish) one!

I liked the looks of the boots, the shaft of the boot was comfortable, the length of foot felt true to size, but they were too narrow for my foot so I am going to return them.

Just not my type - I thought these would be the perfect pair of black boots to wear over jeans but they just look like plastic rain boots when I put them on. I thought I wanted something very plain but these didn't look great when I put them on. They are going back to Zappos.

Cute, but smaller than advertised. The shoe size is true, but the calf of a size 8 is actually 14" on the outside (it was supposed to be 15"). It was just too tight and I have to return them.

I was obsessed with these boots when I first saw them - they looked absolutely perfect. I really, really wanted to love them, but they were nothing like I thought they’d be. They fit like rain boots and got really bunchy around the ankle. The footbed was true to size and comfortable, but the extreme bunching and sagging in the ankle was disgusting. I have larger calves than most of my friends and this boot was big even on me. It didn’t fit like a riding boot should and was really awkward to walk in. For this price, you can do better.

I wanted to love these boots. Unfortunately, they fit like rain boots- way to wide at the ankles- It looked like I had cankles. On the plus side, the leather is excellent and they are easy to wear with jeans tucked in. I like a sleeker look to my boots. \r\n\r\nOne last gripe- a note for the long legged gals, (I\'m a leggy 5\'9") this boot comes up to an inch or 2 below my knee. They really should have extended sizes vertically as well as width wise. ok, griping done.

They are just not my style. The top part of the boot is way too wide (and I have some calves). They did look very plain and not interesting. The feel was like I had rain boots on. They go back to Zappos. Sorry, I so wish I would keep them since I got them on sale.

Two words: RAIN BOOTS! I've been looking for the perfect equestrian/riding boot, but these don't cut it. I've also tried the Etienne Vira boot and had a similar problem. These boots are NOT made for petite girls with skinny calves. The circumference at the top and at the ankles, which is now obvious to me, is too big. I got the Stara in black, and the uniformity did not help lessen the rain boot effect. It was just unflattering in general for me. Perhaps on taller women with medium size calves these might work. Unfortunately for me, these had to be returned. My search continues...
